"James if you bother Lily this year I will find a way to hex you" Marlene said pushing her cart next to James. "Hey I can't help that we are meant to be" James said with a mischievous smile. "What are you thinking about" Marlene said in a concerned voice with her nose scrunched up, James looked at Marlene confused not understanding what she was talking about. "James you have that mischievous smile you get when you think of something bad" Marlene said with her eyebrows raised now. "So that is how you know when I am planning a prank" James said looking at Marlene in shock. "Yes, wait.... your telling me you did not know you did that" Marlene started laughing at the end at James. "Oh wow" James said in shock.

Later when James and Marlene got to the platform James forced Marlene to stay with him till they got onto the train. "Hey Sirius" James said walking up to him with Marlene following him. "Hey James, hey McKinnon" Sirius said peeking around James so he could see Marlene when saying hi, while Marlene did a quick fake smile and then rolled her eyes. "Hey Marlene" Lily said first loud then quiet when noticing James and Sirius were right there. "Why are you with James" Lily whispered. "I told him I would stay with him till we got on the train" Marlene muttered under her breath. "Marlene me and Sirius just had the best idea ever" James said excitedly. "Okay what is it" Marlene said curious but also worried about what James was going to say. "You and your friends Alice, Mary, Lily of course, and your new friend Dorcas can sit a few compartments away from me, Sirius, Peter, Lupin" James said with a big smile on his face. I looked at Lily then responded "Fine but only if we can come into your compartment and you can't come into ours" Marlene said with a stern look. "That is n-" James was about to finish but Marlene cut him off. "It is that or nothing at all" Marlene said with a threatening voice. "I will take none" Sirius said leaning on James shoulder. "Ok then" Lily said raising her eyebrows. "What the heel Sirius" James said hitting his shoulder. "They said they won't sit close to us but did not say we could not come and sit with them" Sirius said with a grin on his face. "Mate I am so lucky I have a friend as clever as you" James said smirking.

  Half way threw the train ride the marauders walked to the other side of the train till they came upon the girls sitting in there own compartment. "Hello ladies" James said as he gestured for Dorcas to move away from Lily. James sat next to Lily, Sirius sat next to Marlene. "Why are you guys here" Marlene said looking back and forth at James and Sirius. "Well you said if you sit a few compartment away we could not come and sit with you" Sirius said with a grin on his face when he saw Marlene face palm. "You are to bloody clever for your own good Sirius" Marlene said as she chuckled at the thought. "Quite he was the one to come up with the plan" James said with a grin also on his face as he looked at Sirius."Marlene it is not funny" Lily said with a frustrated face. "Yes it is" Marlene said laughing at her now.

When we got to the castle we took our sets in the great hall. James sat across from Lily, Lily insisted on Marlene switching spots but Marlene did not budge. Marlene sat next to Lily with Sirius across from her. And the rest on there left. When the new first years came in Sirius winked at a one of them witch looked like a little version of him. "Is that a little Sirius" Marlene said shutting and opening her eyes as tho she thought she was seeing things. "Marlene" Sirius fussed, "He is my little brother, your not seeing things" Sirius said now laughing at Marlene who had a confused face. "You have a little brother" Marlene said with a screeching voice, and her eyes widened open. "Yes" Sirius said with his eyebrows scrunched. "Are your parents mad, wouldn't you think they would have enough problems taking care of you, oh no Hogwarts is going to go down in flames with the Black brothers in the middle of it" Marlene said putting her hands to her head with her eyes wide open. "Bloody hell Marlene I am not that bad am I" Sirius said happy but not as happy as he normally sounded. "Regulus Black" Professor McGonagall said, calling for Sirius brother. "Aww that is such a cute name" Marlene said laughing. "I call him Reg" Sirius said with a grin on his face, reaching his hand out as far as it could go. "That is sort of adorable" Marlene said looking at Sirius with a smile on her face. "Slytherin" the sorting hat interrupted, which made Sirius and Marlene look to the front, when Regulus walked up to the Slytherins table only, the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff clapped also, but the Gryffindor table only had few clapping, which included James, Peter, Remus, Sirius, and Marlene, and Lily when she noticed Marlene was, which led to the rest of the girls clapping.

When it was twelve am the next morning Marlene headed downstairs to the common room with her painting set, and decided to paint what came to mind, and could not sleep duo to her not taking her sleeping medicine. Sirius came down a hour later also unable to sleep but duo to the fact of his parents. "Why. Are you down here" Sirius asked confused that Marlene why up, which made Marlene jump and mess up her painting. "Dang it you made me mess up" Marlene fussed thinking it was James. "Sorry McKinnon, wait what did I make you mess up this time" Sirius said confused not knowing she was painting. "Oh my g-" Marlene said as she sat her painting kit on the side of the couch so Sirius could not see. "What was that" Sirius said with a smirk on his face. "Nothing you need to worry about" Marlene said looking at him with her eyebrows raised. Then Sirius sat down on the opposite side of the couch from were Marlene was sitting, there was a calming silence between the two as they watched fire, before Sirius broke the silence. "You know McKinnon I don't know you that well" Sirius said looking over at Marlene who was fiddling with her hair. "Hmm like you don't know my name" Marlene said looking back at Sirius trying not to laugh, while Sirius just gave her a annoyed look. "I know your name Marlene the question is do you know mine" Sirius said raising his eyebrows. "Bloody hell Sirius of course I do" Marlene said with her eyebrows scrunched up. "Ah you do, what about my middle name" Sirius said with his eyes wide as he chuckled. "Sirius. Orion. Black" Marlene said mocking Sirius, "Now what is mine" she said with a big smile on her face. "Oh" Sirius said thinking, he knew James had told him, just could not recall. "Come on Sirius cat got ya tongue" Marlene said with a smirk on her face and her eyebrows raised. "Bloody hell James told me and now I don't know" Sirius said with his eyes wide open and a smile on his face as he jumped a little bit off the couch. "My full name is Marlene. Grace. McKinnon" Marlene said smiling at Sirius somewhat embarrassed at the fact that her name was so plan and simple his was elegant and pretty. "What a lovely name" Sirius said smiling.
