"Shut the fuck up, Steve. Gosh, why do you breathe so loud?"

"So, you want me to just stop breathing?-"

"Shhh!"

It was Aurora's birthday and Steve, Nat, Clint and Sam were currently picking the lock of her apartment to 'surprise her'. It wasn't going so well because someone wouldn't shut up.

Unbeknownst to them, Bucky and Aurora were sat on the other side of the door, leaning against each other as they tried to stifle their laughs as they both listened to the hushed arguing.

"Okay, what are we going to do when we actually get in there?"

"Shout 'surprise'?" The confused whisper of Steve filtered through the door.

"You're forgetting a literal assassin lives with her!" Sam whisper-shouted.

"Bucky's harmless!" Steve defended.

"Armless, you mean." Sam and Clint both began cackling, momentarily forgetting they were supposed to be quiet.

"Sam, I don't find you funny." Steve retorted.

"I do." Clint piped up.

"Clinton." Nat warned.

"Shutting up."

By the time he had actually shut up, the lock clicked and the door slowly opened.

"Surprise!" They all chanted in unison before screaming as they came face-to-face with a red-faced Aurora who's body was shaking as she held in her laughs and Bucky Barnes who was grinning madly as he held her up.

"Oh my god! Have you been stood there the entire time?" Nat asked in disbelief.

Aurora opened her mouth to answer but all that came out was a snort.

And that was all it took for the whole room to explode in laughter.

"I have to go to work on my birthday? That's like...illegal."

"No, Rory. It's not."

She pouted.

The four of them- Nat, Clint, Steve and Aurora- made their way into S.H.I.E.L.D only an hour after they had broken into her apartment. Aurora barely had time to open any of her gifts when Fury called them in for an 'important mission'.

"Maybe Fury will go easy on me." She said hopefully.

"Don't count on it." Fury's voice boomed from beside her. She jumped, holding a hand to her heart as she glared at him.

"Holy shit-"

"Get your ass into the conference room."

They complied and shuffled into the room, locking the door behind them.

There was a tense silence for a second before Aurora, as usual, broke it.

"So, what's so important that you had to call me in on my birthday, eyepatch."

He sighed.

"I need you all to go undercover."

"You have got to be shitting me."

"I'm sorry, what?" Aurora stuttered.

"It has to be done, Agent Amedeo." Fury stated blankly.

"I am not fake dating Aurora!" Nat exclaimed.

Aurora gasped.

"Am I too ugly for you, Agent Romanoff?"

"That's not what I meant-"

"Too late. Feelings are hurt."

"Fine. I will fake date you but, only if I get to pick our backstory."

"Deal. So, are we thinking enemies to lovers or-" She began rambling quickly.

"Rory. Slow down."

"Right, okay." She nodded, clasping her hands together so she doesn't fidget with them. Though, her entire body was buzzing with excitement and she began to let off a faint silver glow.

The others stared at her with a raised brow. Since she had revealed her powers, they noticed that whenever she was overly happy or excited, she glowed.

It first happened when she took Bucky to the park. It was a stupid little thing that she had forced him into after he had offhandedly mentioned that he hadn't been to one since Coney Island with Steve.

She dragged him all the way there with a giddy smile and practically forced him on a swing. He was horrible at it and she had to push him but, he was too heavy so, she just used her powers that he claimed 'tickled'. Then, she forced him onto the slide. He was horrible at that, too- he fell on his ass and she laughed so hard that she began to glow. Bucky got so scared and she laughed even harder and glowed brighter.

She hadn't glowed like that since she was a kid...

"Sorry." She whispered and forced her glow away.
