Haruhi's POV

Hikaru and I ran after Kaoru, he explained to me that Kaoru's always had issues with people taking Hikaru away from him. Last time Hikaru got jealous of my friend, he got unbelievable angry, but when Kaoru gets upset like this, he sometimes starts question his own importance and self-value.

We finally caught up to him at the edge of a cliff.

"Kaoru stop!"

"Why?!" Kaoru screamed back without turning around. "It's not like you actually want me!" His voice was shaking.

"Kaoru please, you don't understand".

Hikaru walked closer to him, and gestured for me to go hide.

"Kaoru, I know you heard what I said to Haruhi, but I don't think you understand".

"I understand perfectly fine Hikaru. You love her. You need her....and you don't need me anymore".

"Kaoru that's not true!" Hikaru took a few steps closer. "I could never live without you! Please don't jump off this....wait". Hikaru looked down, then turned to Kaoru with a confused facial expression. "This isn't....a cliff".

"Sure it is, there's just....water at the bottom".

"So you, weren't going to kill yourself".

"No. You scheduled cliff diving before dinner, that's why I'm here".

"Oh..."

"But the crying and running off, that was from what you said".

"Oh. Well, Kaoru, I love you and Haruhi in different ways, and I know you understand that. And yes, I can't live without her, but I can't live without you either".

"I know, I just got, jealous is all".

"Kaoru, our lives, what we've been through, no one can just come in and take that all away. No matter what happens, you're my brother, and I may love Haruhi, but even she can't change that.

I decided that if I wanted to say anything, now would be the time to do it.

"Kaoru, I'm sorry I made you feel like I was taking your place. I know that I could never replace you".

"Thank you Haruhi, but I know that Hikaru loves you, maybe even more than he loves me".

"That's not true! Hikaru loves you more!"

"No he love you more!"

"No you!"

"No-"

"STOP!" We both turned to Hikaru. "Enough! I love both of you! I need both of you! I can't live without either of you! And that's that!"

There was nothing else to say after that, the three of us walked back to the house, with Hikaru's arm over Kaoru's shoulder, and his other hand holding mine.
