Haruhi's POV

As soon as Tamaki kissed me, I tried pushing him off of me, but I couldn't.

"GET OFF OF ME!"

"Haruhi..."

"Tamaki what the hell are you doing?!"

"I'm sorry." He held my shoulders tightly so that I couldn't run away. "I don't know what's gotten into me. I just really wish you loved me as much as you love Hikaru".

I finally was able to grab both his arms and turn him away from me so that I could run. As I sprinted through the halls I could hear running footsteps behind me.

"Haruhi!" I could hear him yelling. "Wait!" He was out of breath and too tired to run anymore, but I kept going.

I needed to find Hikaru and tell him.

After a few minutes of looking around I finally found Hikaru sitting in the corner of one of the school's libraries.

"Hikaru," I walked around him so that I could see his face. He looked up at me angrily.

"Haruhi," I saw him grit his teeth. "What the hell was going on with you and Tamaki?"

"What..?"

"I saw. I saw you two kiss". He stood up and looked right at me. "Why did you do that?!"

Everyone in the library turned and stared at us.

"Hikaru it's not what you think".

"It's not what I think? Really?! Well, I think I saw you and Tamaki kissing! Right?"

"Well yes but-"

"No! No buts!" He slammed his fist hard against a table. "I've made it pretty damn clear that you're mine! And I thought you said that we'd be together forever! But clearly you didn't really mean that!"

"Hikaru that's not what happened, Tamaki just went and kissed me and-" Hikaru didn't care to listen and tried walking away but I stood in front of him and blocked him.

"Hikaru please wait!"

Just as Hikaru was about to start walking out, Tamaki walked in looking for me.

"Haruhi? Are you here?" He hadn't noticed Hikaru and me yet.

"Please don't Hikaru, I can explain this".

"I don't need an explanation".

Hikaru walked over to Tamaki.

"Oh, hello Hikaru".

Before Tamaki could say anything else, Hikaru punched him in the face.

"What the hell do you think you were doing with Haruhi huh?"

"Hikaru I-" Tamaki was cut off by a punch to the stomach.

"She chose me Tamaki! Not you! And you told me that you could live with that, and I trusted you!" Hikaru shoved Tamaki into a wall, making him fall to the floor.

"I'm sorry Hikaru, but I was....I was...." Tamaki looked around at everyone watching them. "I need to tell you something, but not here".

"Why not here? Why not in front of everyone so that they can all see how horrible you are!"

"I can't. Not here".

"Well if it's not here, and not now, then I'm leaving!"

Hikaru stormed off, and I went over to help Tamaki up.

"Thank you Haruhi".

He shouldn't have thanked me yet. I slapped him across the face and said, "Why would you do that?!"

"Listen Haruhi!" He put his hands up in front of his face as defense. "I'm really sorry but let's not talk here, please!"

"Fine".

We walked out of the library and slowly Tamaki explained everything.

"My family is broke. We lost everything. Our business, our home, all of our money has been given away to repay long-due debts. My entire family is a mess. We've never been poor before so everyone's freaking out. I tried so hard to help them. I used some of the things you taught me about a commoners life to make them realize that it wasn't so bad, but they wouldn't listen. My father started drinking, and he hasn't been able to do anything but sit and wait for some miracle that's never going to happen. He said that I should join him in his wallowing and stop going to school so that we will have a bit more money. I told him I would figure something out, but he said there was no way I could do anything. I didn't know, but every morning he would put a little vodka in my water, thinking that it would make me less worried about our financial situation, and this morning, I was so tired that I didn't notice him give me a bottle of his alcohol and I drank it. All of it. Eventually I realized I was drunk, but I still decided to go to school, and that's why...I did what I did. And I am so, so sorry Haruhi".

"Tamaki, how long has it been since your family lost everything?"

"About a month".

"Why didn't you tell me? Or anyone else?"

"Well I told Kyoya and he tried to help me. He offered me a lot of money to help us get back on our feet".

"And you didn't take it?"

"No, I didn't want him to have to give up part of his fortune to help me".

"You do know that he could give you a million dollars and not notice the difference right?"

"Yes I know but still. I wanted to figure this out by myself, get a job, buy commoners' clothes, live in a little cozy house..."

"You really want to live that kind of life?"

"Well no, eventually I'd make those millions back! But you know, I wanted to do it myself and be proud of my work, instead of just sit around and use the money that I was given by everyone else".

"Tamaki, I understand".

"You do?"

"Ya, if you wanted to give me a million dollars, I'd take it, but I would be happier if I earned the money. But still, we are going to tell everyone in the club and you are going to take atleast some of their money".

"Alright, but first we both need to talk to Hikaru".

We walked into the host club's room, but something was different. The atmosphere was almost grim.

Hikaru and Kaoru were missing.

"Guys, were are Hikaru and Kaoru?"

Honey was crying and being comforted by Mori, who for once actually showed emotion.

"Hika-chan and Kao-chan aren't here".

Kyoya gestured Tamaki towards him. Tamaki walked over and Kyoya whispered something in his ear.

For a moment Tamaki was just frozen, his eyes wide in either fear or shock, maybe both. He turned to me, opened his mouth and tried to say something, but even without saying anything, I knew that something had definetly gone horribly wrong.
