Chapter XXV | League Finale

Atlas' POV

In front of me stood Eclipse, one of the few people who made my journey an experience to remember.

All my training - it came down to this final battle in Kanto before I was off to the next region with Ace and Inferno.

Eclipse and I hadn't really battled before, except for the double battle back with Luna and him.

Now, I couldn't lose. All my Pokémon were counting on me. We came so far and refuse to give in.

"I hope you're ready, Eclipse," I mutter. He was smiling, as was I. This wasn't a battle between enemies.

It was a battle between two rivals who were both experienced in battle, which is why we both made it to the finals.

"Ready as I'll ever be," he replied. I drew a Pokéball and sent out my first Pokémon - the one who began my journey with me.

"Beedrill, here we go!" I shout. "Alright Slowbro, we've got this!" Eclipse exclaimed.

After using string shot a few times, Beedrill was down. At least he'd poisoned Slowbro first.

"C'mon out, Golbat!" I shout. I didn't have a single move to beat Eclipse's Slowbro.

Well, all except for Golbat's leech life, since I was saving Sneasel. "Use fly!"

Golbat flew into the air, preparing to dive bomb Slowbro, but was unfortunately countered by Slowbro's tail.

"Leech life!" I shout. "Use curse, followed by rest!" Eclipse shouted. Thankfully, me and Golbat did have a combo.

"Drain the life of others, immobilizing everything which stands in our way!" I chant.

A greenish aura surrounded Golbat. Eclipse's eyes widened, as if he knew what was happening. He looked rather shocked, more than confused.

"Hidden Art: Lifestealing Fang!" I shout. Golbat's teeth start shining a bright lime green color as he strikes Slowbro with the attack.

Orbs of green floated into Golbat, restoring his health and taking down Eclipse's main wall Pokémon.

"Go, Star!" Eclipse exclaimed. "Leech life, now!" I shout. Starmie avoids the attack and does something unexpected.

Without doing any incantation or similar thing, Starmie begins to glow. "Aquatic Rage: Storm Rush!" Eclipse shouts.

Water begins surrounding Starmie's body and electricity surges through the shield-like form.

Then, Starmie move faster than the speed of sound and smashes into Golbat. On contact, a lightning bolt strikes him down.

Does Eclipse know about those moves, too? I wondered. "Go, Pidgeot!" I call. "Hurricane!"

Starmie avoids the attack easily, then uses thunderbolt to knockout Pidgeot in a single hit.

"Let's go, Nidoking!" I exclaim. "Shake the ground; infect thy enemy and allow them to suffer!" I chant. "Toxic Arc: Venomquake!"

Finally, Eclipse's second Pokémon went down and now Alakazam came out.

It may have been a six against six battle, but neither of us had that many, so they allowed us to use any amount.

We've won, Nidoking can damage Alakazam just a bit, then Sneasel can finish him! I had thought.

Just then, Alakazam took out Nidoking with one psybeam.

"Sneasel, let's go!" I shout. "Energy ball!" Eclipse shouted.

Sneasel didn't dodge the attack, though. Instead, he decided to confuse Alakazam by taking it head on.

At the last second, Sneasel cut the attack in two with metal claw raising his attack.

"Incredible!" The Broadcaster exclaimed into the microphone. "Sneasel has used an attack on energy ball to boost his own damage!"

"Sneasel, ice claw!" I shout. Eclipse grinned at that moment. "Use psychic on the ice shard and redirect it!" he commanded.

Alakazam was about to do as told, but found Sneasel had vanished. "Night slash!" I call. Alakazam turned and found Sneasel behind him.

Just as night slash landed, Alakazam teleported away. "Keep it up!" I call.

Sneasel shot a barrage of ice shards towards Alakazam to get his focus off himself.

Sneasel landed another night slash before Alakazam teleported. "Ice claw one more time!" I shout. "Teleport behind Sneasel!" Eclipse exclaimed in panic.

My plan all along had been to pressure Alakazam and Eclipse to the point he'd panic. "Now turn around and slash!" I shout.

Sneasel hit Alakazam hard this time, knocking him down. "Let the cold within freeze those who oppose us; allow the darkness of our sins repel our enemies," I chant.

"Alakazam, teleport!" Eclipse shouted. Alakazam wasn't moving, just barely getting up, still stunned by the slash attack.

"Arctic Helix: Black Frost Swipe!" I shout. Sneasel's claws begun glowing a darker blue than before.

"What's this?" The Announcer questioned.

A huge flash of light filled the arena and when it went away, Alakazam was lying face-first in the ground near a wall which had a crater in it.

Sneasel's attack had literally thrown Alakazam into the wall so hard it cracked. "The Indigo League champion is Atlas Soul!" A microphone sounded off.

"Alakazam, you okay?" Eclipse asked his partner. It slowly stood up, still weak. "Take a good rest, you fought hard."

As the judges and other people who I don't know what to call them walked up to me, I refused the offer.

"I can't stay here as a champion, I wanna explore more regions, but I'd gladly give someone else the title," I mutter.

I felt a tap on the back. As I turn, I see Sola there grinning. "I'll cover for ya, if you want," Sola grinned.

"Sure thing," I nod. I headed off from the League after the group who were all going to the Pokémon Centre.

As I entered the building, with most of my team fainted I was congratulated by the group, but I couldn't find Luna or Eclipse anywhere.

"They said something about airport, I don't know," Inferno mumbled. "They told me to tell ya." "What?!" I exclaim.

...

I rushed up to the airport and saw Luna and Eclipse waiting near a door, but Eclipse was nagging her.

When I got close enough I heard their conversation. "Please, just a bit longer!" Luna cried. "No! We're gonna miss out flight!" Eclipse replied.

"What's up?" I ask, approaching them. "Phew, thank goodness," Eclipse muttered. "Luna insisted she said bye before we left."

"You two going to Johto as well, right?" I ask. Luna seemed to be near tears. "A-Actually, we have to go to Hoenn," she sniffled.

Eclipse shrugged. "What's the big deal? You two have enough time together as it is."

"Hey!" Luna yelled as her cheeks turned red. "What are you saying?"

"Please, you two think I'm so oblivious," Eclipse frowns. "I've known the whole time. And I have nothing against you two."

I was still confused. "Then, why are you leaving to Hoenn?" I ask. Eclipse sighs, as the line slowly began to shorten.

"Well, we aren't sure, but when you get to the fourth gym in Johto, train up a bit and don't leave," Eclipse suggested.

"The fifth gym is a real struggle, and you might wanna take your time." I was confused even more. "You've been to Johto?" I ask.

Eclipse shakes his head and shrugs. "My dad just had said that," Eclipse mumbled.

I was about to ask who his dad was, but I could tell he wanted me to shut up about that topic.

"You should hurry and catch you plane, too," Eclipse sighed. I nodded and waved goodbye, but felt the collar of my shirt being tugged.

I turned to see Luna there with sad eyes. I took a breath so I didn't start crying, too.

"Yea?" Is all I could manage to say before Luna wrapped her arms tightly around me and kissed me.

I hugged her back and melted into the kiss, happily.

A minute later, she pulled away, tears were streaming down her cheeks, but she was smiling.

"I hope to see ya in the near future, Atlas," Luna smiled. "Yeah, same to you," I reply.

She headed off to Eclipse who had a...red nose? I thought nosebleeds only happened in animated cartoons...

I ran after Inferno and Ace, got my plane ticket and said goodbye to Kanto.

I looked back towards Eclipse and Luna who were waving to us.

Until we meet again, I thought. I saw them off with a smile and soon was in the air. Someday, that is...

The End~
