Chapter XXIV | Indigo Plateau

Ace's POV

Yesterday we made it through Victory Road and entered the Kanto League.

Guess which one of us was lucky enough to fight Eclipse? Me, of course.

And that's sarcasm, because I know I can't beat him. I guess I'll have to try anyways.

"Let's go, Slowbro!" Eclipse shouted. I was sweating already, remembering the start of our journey.

I knew I had to win this, for my team. They helped me alongside me this whole time.

Now I had to repay them. "Let's go, Vileplume!" I shout. It was a two against two match, so this could go either way.

Vileplume is weak to psychic, but Slowbro is weak to grass. "Petal Dance!"

Slowbro dodged the attack narrowly and began to bulk itself up. "Curse," Eclipse called. "Sleep powder!" I shout.

"Use sleep talk," Eclipse calls. Suddenly, Slowbro uses confusion in its sleep, damaging Vileplume.

"Petal dance!" I call. "Block it with your tail," Eclipse demands.

Using sleep talk, Slowbro blocks the petal dance attack using the shell on his tail.

"Slowbro, confusion!" Eclipse shouted. With that, Vileplume was unable to battle, leaving me left with Arcanine.

"Let's go, Arcanine," I call. After three bite attacks, Slowbro was down, but it had damaged Arcanine.

"Alakazam, let's end this," Eclipse muttered, tossing his Pokéball. "Psybeam, then teleport behind him."

Alakazam fired a pulse of kinetic energy towards Arcanine, making contact, but Arcanine was expecting the teleport.

"Use bite, then set yourself on fire with flamethrower!" I shout. After that attack, Alakazam teleported away and finished Arcanine off with psybeam.

So, that was all for me in the Kanto League. Right now, I'm pretty sure Atlas or Eclipse will win.

The next round was Inferno against Luna, meaning Atlas was up against some random person who I don't need to narrate.

...

Basically, Inferno sent out Blaze and swept Luna's entire team, Crystal lost to a random person, Atlas won his match.

In round two, those people we don't know fought against Eclipse and Inferno and lost and Atlas beat another person, leaving four people left.

Finally, it was down to Inferno against Eclipse and Atlas beat the other guy who we didn't know, so yeah.

Now it was down to Eclipse and Atlas, except I had forgotten two others.

One I recognized, the other was unknown to me. Frostbite and some guy with a black jacket and cyan coloured eyes.

Now it was Frostbite against Eclipse and Atlas was going to fight this mysterious trainer...

Atlas' POV

Before me stood Inferno's childhood friend, or rival you could say.

Scissor had a team of three Pokémon, but they were trained hard.

"Let's go, Sandslash!" Scissor exclaimed. "Alright, Golbat, c'mon out!" I call.

Golbat was a great counter to Sandslash, being immune to ground-type moves.

"Sand attack," Scissor muttered. Before the attack could land, Golbat avoided the move and used fly.

"Use poison fang after you use fly!" I shout up to Golbat.

My partner comes speeding down above Sandslash preparing to land a heavy blow, but is countered by fury swipes.

"Sand attack!" Scissor called. Golbat was blinded by the attack and struggled to damage Sandslash. Another fury swipes attack fainted him.

"C'mon out Pidgeot!" I shout. "Hurricane!" Sandslash dodged the attack and countered with rapid spin.

Scissor only had three Pokémon, but all the fights were three against three, meaning I was going to lose.

"Pidgeot, use hurricane again!" I shout. This time the move landed, flinging Sandslash into the air.

"Use peck!" I call. "Sandslash, curl up into a ball and spin around!" Scisor commanded.

Sandslash created a spiky barrier around itself to block the peck attack, then dug into the ground.

"Leap up and use sand attack!" Scisor shouted. Pidgeot's ability prevents it from losing accuracy, I thought.

Sandslash jumped up from behind Pidgeot and flung sand into its eye, but it has no effect. "Hurricane!" I shout.

Sandslash was flung upwards in the air and fainted when it made contact with the ground.

"Alright, here we go Fearow!" Scisor called.

Fearow and Pidgeot were known as rivals in the Pokémon world, so it might've been a close match, but Pidgeot had been damaged.

"Pidgeot, use hurricane then aerial ace!" I call.

After the combo and decent amount of damage Fearow had taken, Pidgeot was down by a drill peck.

"Sneasel, let's finish this!" I exclaim. Out came my partner, with his arms crossed.

Sneasel was the Pokémon I instantly took a liking to especially for its typing of dark-ice.

It reflected my emotions, and now we were about to win this match together.

"Sneasel, ice claw!" I shout. "That ain't a move," Scissor muttered.

Little did he know, it was our combo of ice shard and metal claw.

Sneasel fired the projectile at Fearow dealing damage then raised its attack with metal claw.

"Use slash, then ice shard!" I shout. "Drill peck!" Scissor exclaims.

Sneasel evaded the attack and finished off Fearow still with full health.

"Scyther, let's go!" Scissor shouted. We can do this, Sneasel, I thought. Together - let's win this thing.

Sneasel crossed his arms again, waiting for Scyther to attack. "Use X-Scissor!" Scissor shouted.

"Wait for it...," I mutter. Before Scyther landed its attack, Sneasel ducked under its claws and used slash from behind.

"Ice shard!" I call. "Struggle bug!" Scissor panicked. Both attacks landed, leaving the Pokémon weakened.

"End it with cut!" Scissor cried. Connect through the mindscape, allow us to become one, I thought. Sneasel uncrossed his arms and avoided the attack.

"Let the cold within freeze those who oppose us; allow the darkness of our sins repel our enemies," I chant.

Sneasel's claws began to glow a bright blue color and he was surrounded by a bright aura. "Arctic Helix: Black Frost Swipe!"

Sneasel sped forwards with an additional ice shard and uppercutted Scyther, dealing major damage.

"Night slash!" I shout. With that, Scyther was down and unable to battle. I turned to see Eclipse celebrating with the group.

He'd beaten Frostbite with his team of psychic-types. So now it was just us two competing for the trophy.

I won't lose, Eclipse. You can count on that...
