IT was now midnight and Amor was settled inside the bakery. The lights are dimmed and Amor sat on the stool as she frosted the chocolate cake.

Just as Amor stood up to grab herself a plate, a knock was heard at the door. Amor looks up and takes sight of Evie.

Amor felt her bones tighten. "Hi," she replies dryly.

"Carlos wanted me to find him some chocolate, you know, like the kind that was in the limo this morning," Evie chuckles. "Do you happen to know where any of it is?"

Amor held tightly to the fork in her hand, "what kind?β€”chocolate, what kind of chocolate?" Amor embarrassingly stuttered over her words.

Evie's eyes fall down to the fork in her hand, Amor's knuckles were white. Her smile falters slightly, "He says it was a combination of chocolate and peanut butter, I think, I wasn't paying very close attention."

Amor doesn't say a word and simply walks over to the cabinet, grabbing some Reese's Pieces chocolate. "This should be good." Amor hands her the bag.

Evie takes the bag and watches as Amor begins cleaning up the kitchen. "Are you leaving?"

Amor snaps her eyes back at her for a quick second before continuing her task, "yeah, I don't wanna stay up too late or else I'll sleep through an entire class period."

Evie smiles lightly, "Oh. You seem a little...nervous."

Amor forces her laugh. "What?"

"Nervous," Evie crosses her arms, squinting, "your grabbing that fork pretty tightly and you can't even look me in the eye."

Amor shrugs, "I should probably get going." She tries to walk away, but Evie was quick enough to grab her arm.

"You never told me your name?" Evie reminds her.

"It's Amor." She wiggles her arm out of Evie's grip.

Evie adverts her eyes to the ground. "Nice talking to you, Amor."

Amor nods, "mhm." She coughed, quickly speeding away, her heart thumping against her chest

..

THE WARM SUN PEEKS THROUGH THE curtains of Amor's bedroom, hitting her caramel skin which causes her to sigh. She covers her eyes, praying that it'll be night again when she removes the blankets from over her eyes.

When she finally does, she comes in contact with the same beaming sun. Amor sits up on the side of her bed, staring at the wall for a good 5 minutes before actually completing her usual routine.

Amor was headed to the class that made her have to clench her teeth, chemistry, knowing she was going to be called out once her foot hit the floors of the classroom.

"Miss Rose, you're late again...I'm tired of having to repeat myself," Mr. Deley says, not surprised by her tardiness.

Amor mumbles an apology, still feeling the exhaustion eating in her body.

"Evie, Perhaps this is just a review for you so can you tell me what is the average atomic weight of silver." Mr. Deley looks over at the blueberry haired girl.

Amor captures the slightest cocky grin on Mr. Deley's lips.

Just the sight was enough to make Amor's eyes turn to slits, he was trying to embarrass her in front of this entire class.

"Atomic weight? Uh well, not very muchβ€”I mean, it's an atom, right?" Evie gives an uneasy smile to the teacher.

He waved her to the board, causing her to frown.

Amor contemplated her decision for a moment. She shouldn't help the villain kid, she's a villain kid for gods sake!

Yet, Amor was still surprised when she scrubbed down the answer on a piece of paper and held it up for Evie to see.

Evie's flyers lit up at the unexpected gesture.

"The um..." Evie glanced at the paper and then at the teacher, "the atomic weight of silver would be 107.9 amu.

Amor felt her chest fall in relief as she crumbled up the piece of paper. Her head slowly leaned back as she came to terms that she'd just helped the person she's suppose to hate.

Evie spared a small glance at her before turning around.

..

Β  "OKAY, CARLOS, WE'RE GOING TO DO some sprints! You ready?" Ben questions, the clipboard in his right hand and the time left in his left.

"Why do you need me here again?" Amor frowned, wondering why she had to be in the hot sun instead of her cool and comfortable dorm room.

"Since you're a part of the track team I thought you could help," he responds.

Amor's reply was cut off with Carlos screaming bloody murder. She gasps, her eyes turning to the boy only to see him racing down the lacrosse field.Β

Right behind Carlos, you see Dude, the school dog.

Amor tilted her head in slight amusement, "Is he running fromβ€”"

"Yes...yes he is." Ben snaps his pin back in, running after Carlos.

Amor thought it was slightly ironic, seeing Cruella De Vil's son is afraid of dogs, who knew.

"Hurry! Get on the tree before he attacks you!" Carlos says in a panic as he hugs the tree, not long after, Ben appears.

Amor smiles.

"That thing is a killer! He's gonna chase me down and rip out my throat. This is a vicious, rapid pack animal," he points down at Dude who Amor had retrieved in her arms.

Ben asks carefully. "Who told you that?"

"My mother. She's a dog expert. A dog yellerer." His eyes land on the monster in Amor's arms, "Amor, put that thing down! He's going to attack you!" Carlos squeals.

Amor shared a smile with Ben, "Carlos have you ever actually held a dog before?" she asks in curiosity.

"Wellβ€”no of course not," he says softly, appearing to be calming down once he noticed the dog not attacking any of them.

"This is our campus mutt, his name is Dude." Amor introduces the dog with a warm smile.

"He doesn't look like a vicious rapid pack animal." Carlos mumbles.

"Hes not," Amor felt a light smile tugging on her lip, "He's very adorable and fun to pet. Here,"

Carlos had slowly but Shirley gotten down from the tree, still cautious as he made his way closer.

Dude gif perfectly in Carlos's arm and he hesitantly accepts the dog, a smile forming on his lips.

"I guess you guys have it pretty rough on the island." Ben assumes, feeling bad for Carlos.

"Yeah, let's just say we don't get a lot of belly rubs." Carlos chuckles, making Amor's eyes soften.

Amor trialed her eyes down to her nails, "I should probably get to practice, it was nice seeing you, Carlos, good job today."

"Thanks, Amor." Carlos smiles.

For a small moment, Amor thought that maybe because of her interactions with Carlos, that villain kids aren't always as bad as people say they are.

..

β€”

AMOR RUNS HER LAST LAP, FEELING THE last ounce of energy leave her body as she takes a seat on the bleachers, not wasting any time to bring the cool ounce of water to her lips.

"Hey, Amor." she heard a voice call her name.

Amor recognized that voice from last night.

Evie hesitantly walked Amor's way, not wanting to freak her out like she did last night. "Hi."

"High." Amor lended her a tight smile.

Evie had her arms crossed behind her back, "soβ€”um, last night I saw that you were making one of those dessert thingsβ€”a uh..." Evie tries to find the word for the unfamiliar food.

"Chocolate cake?" Amor frowns.

"Yes, that." Evie nods, "I was wondering ifβ€”well..if you could show me how to make something like that. I've never eaten one before."

Amor felt her brows raise and her mouth part. It taken her a couple of seconds to respond.

They're not all the same. A voice in Amor's head said again.

"Yeahβ€”is love too." Amor accepts.

"Great, we can do it tonight." Evie gives a wide smile. "Hey, Do you maybe wanna come to hang out in my dorm room with Mal and me?"

Malificents daughter.

Amor contemplated the thought, she was a whole different can of beans.

But would Amor ever really say no?

She swallows the lump in her throat, "Sure, but I'll have to go to my dorm room first to get changed," Amor explains.

"Alright, just come whenever you're ready, oh, and thanks for the answer today in class." She winks, waving goodbye as she walks away.

Amor blinksβ€”did Evie just wink at her?
