REAL LIFE

The paddock was practically empty when Amelia and Lando walked away from it. The final sprint qualifying was over and Lando was finally done with all the long debriefs. It had been a good sprint qualifying for him, and he could start in P5 tomorrow. He could really use this good result as the last few weekends have not been his strongest races. It kept him from being quite himself, but today the old Lando was definitely back.

That probably also had to do with the fact that today is his birthday. First of all, he was showered with birthday kisses from Lia this morning, which cheered him up anyway. The kisses were followed by some presents from Lia. The necklace she'd bought for him hung around his neck right now, and he couldn't wait to put on his new jumper when they got home tonight. The gifts, in turn, were continued with a steamy shower session. Since they had to sleep on time tonight, there wasn't really time for... you know.

When they arrived in the garage this morning, Taylor Swift's song "22" was loudly playing through the speakers. Lando couldn't help but laugh. Chuckling, he walked out where his team was waiting with a golf cake in front of him. The whole team plus some fans in the stands sang 'Happy Birthday' to him before they actually got to work. Lando had had a great day so far, but according to Amelia it was going to be even more fun. Lando had no idea what she had planned for him, but he couldn't wait.

He found it remarkable that the paddock was so empty. Normally there were a few other drivers present around this time, but they didn't meet anyone.

"Where is everyone?" he asks, more to himself than to Amelia. Amelia shrugs, but he can tell by her eyes that she knows more about the current situation. Still, he decides not to ask any further, as he knows he won't get it out of her. The two of them and Jon walk down the paddock to the parking lot. There they get into the car that is waiting for them and they drive to the rented villa they have this weekend.

When they arrive, the lights in the house are all out. Strange, Lando thought to himself. You would say that Carlos and Isa would be back by now. The three get out of the car and pack their things before the driver takes off again.

"Are Carlos and Isa still not back?" Lando asks Jon, who had come to stand next to him in the meantime.

"I don't know, mate," Jon grins at him and walks ahead of him towards the front door. Now it's Amelia standing next to Lando.

"What's going on here?" Lando gives her a questioning look. Amelia tries her best to keep a poker face, but it's hard.

"What do you mean?" She tries to say it as innocently as possible, but the twinkle in her eye betrays her. Before Lando can respond to her, she continues.

"Come on, let's go get something to eat!" She calls to him and stands next to Jon, who in the meantime unlocks the front door. Confused, Lando follows the duo in front of him and follows them inside. The lights in the living room are off and he can't see a thing. All Lando hears is Amelia and Jon dropping their bags on the floor.

Then the light suddenly flashes, and different people appear from all kinds of places.

"Surprise!" They all shout in unison and "Happy Birthday" comes through the speakers loudly. Lando looks around the room in amazement at all the people standing there. Max, Carlos, Daniel, George, Charles, Kelly, Isa, Mia, Carmen, Charlotte and a couple of people from his team are all singing for him.

As they sing, Amelia comes to stand next to him and wraps her arm around his waist. When they're all done singing, Lando looks at his girlfriend with a big smile. "Thank you," he whispers, pressing his lips to hers for a long time.

"Yes, yes, that's enough lovebirds," Max laughs after a few seconds, breaking the kiss.

"Okay guys, all drinks are alcohol-free at Jon's request," Amelia says, giving Lando's trainer a wink. "And we'll go on until midnight tonight. Most people here still have a race tomorrow."

The music kicks up a notch as two guys from the team hand out drinks to everyone. Amelia wants to join the group, but Lando stops her by wrapping both arms around her waist. To prevent her from hitting him hard, she puts her hands on his chest.

"What?" She chuckles and looks into his eyes.

"Nothing, I just love you so much. Thank you for making this the best birthday," he says and kisses her again, this time much more lovingly than the first time. After a while they both withdraw.

"No problem," she smiles at him and presses one more small kiss to his nose before they both blend in with the rest of the group.

This already promised to be a very good evening.

Guys what a race weekend!

First of all, Max his Q3 lap was pure magic. I think you could hear my heart crack when he hit the wall.

Then the race... I made some notes, here you go:

- Genius gamble from Red Bull during the first red Flag! I laughed so hard at Lewis complaining about Max changing tires

- Saudi Arabia is not good for my heart

- Nice thing from the FIA to offer a solution for the turn 1 incident without any penalty's

- Start number 3 from Max 😱😱

- Norris starting last during restart 2 :((

- Lovely battle between Max and Lewis

- We can't race one lap without a VSC 😅

- WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON BETWEEN MAX AND LEWIS OMG THIS CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE

- Max brakes to give place back bc race control order. Ham drives into him while braking along with Max. Idk what to think man! CHAOSSSSSS

- TIME PENALTY FOR GAINING IN ADVANTAGE?!!! WHAT?!!! I DON'T GET FIA ANYMORE.

- FIA IS BULLSHIT. GET YOUR SHIT STRAIGHT MAN FOR REAL. Be clear about your orders, otherwise you get collisions like this one. Both drivers don't know what to do

- Okay so Max slows down to give the place back, Hamilton brakes along with Max and drives into Max. Max gives place back couple laps later and overtakes again and gets a time penalty?! Is that what happened? I don't get it anymore can someone explain?!

- Noooo Ocon doesn't get a podium 😭

- Lando P10 :(( can't seem to get good points since Sochi, don't know what he did to get such bad luck...

- Going into the final race with equal points. 100% faith in Max he's gonna fight for it like a champ and hopefully he'll win it.

- Max DOTD interview was a huge BURN to the FIA and other people in the F1 world LOL 😂👏

- Next week we'll know who the 2021 champ is...
