REAL LIFE

1 year, 12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days. It's a long time period that can go by very quickly when you're having fun. That's how Amelia felt when she woke up that Tuesday morning in her Monaco apartment and realised she and Lando had been together for exactly one year. A year full of his annoying ass, his catchy laugh and his adorable dimps. It was a year filled with love, laughter, and heartbreaks, but she wouldn't change it for a bit.

She stretched herself and looked to her right, only to see an empty side of the bed. Then the realisation hit her. Lando wasn't here on their anniversary. He was still in Miami because his flight got cancelled, and he would only be in Monaco by tomorrow. And because he would be on the flight home for the entire day, they couldn't FaceTime as well. Amelia thought it sucked because she had planned a great day for the two of them. But Lando promised he would make it up to her tomorrow and give her the best anniversary she could wish for.

It took her some motivation to get out of her bed since she wasn't looking forward to this day at all now that Lando wasn't here. She decided to get her mind off it by going on a run along the coastline of Monte Carlo. When she got back to their apartment, she took a shower and made herself a delicious breakfast, which she ate while sitting on the balcony, enjoying the gorgeous view over the harbour.

Amelia had just laid her cutlery down on her plate when she heard the doorbell ring. A little confused, she stood up from her chair and walked to the front door camera. She answered and saw Kelly, Mia, Charlotte and Amber standing on her doorstep.

"Hi, what are you doing here?" She asked surprised through the intercom.

"Can you just let us in before asking questions? My feet are hurting from all the walking," Amber complained a little impatient, letting Amelia chuckle a little before letting her friends inside. It took a minute or two before the girls were on the right floor and stood before her front door. Amelia let them in, and they took place in the living room.

"I appreciate y'all being here, but why?" Amelia asked her friends again. She was glad she could spend this day with her friends, don't get her wrong, but she really wanted Lando to be there with her.

"Lando texted us about his flight and asked us to keep you company for today to take your mind off it for a bit," Charlotte explained as she laid her arm around Amelia's shoulder to comfort her a little. A haze of love washed over her body from the presence of her friends. What had she done to deserve these girls?

"We thought it would be a great idea to take you out shopping and go for dinner later in the evening," Kelly said and stood up from the sofa. "So, are you ready?" She handed her hand out to Amelia and pulled her up from the couch.

"I guess I don't have much of a choice, do I?" Amelia laughed at them, and all shook their heads. She got her stuff together and walked out of her apartment together with the greatest friends of all time. This wasn't the anniversary she had in mind, but the presence of her closest friends made this day at least a little better.

A day shopping with her friends was exactly what Amelia needed after hearing the bad news from her boyfriend. It got her distracted from the sadness she had felt the entire morning and allowed her to have a laugh today. The shopping also became useful as she managed to score a new outfit for tomorrow—a 'special' outfit, to be exact. Something red as that was the colour her boyfriend liked the most on her.

It was the beginning of the evening when they got back to hers and Lando's apartment to drop off their bags before they went to dinner at Amelia's favourite restaurant. Because Lando felt terrible about his flight being cancelled, he had told the girls to have dinner on his account. When they got to their building, Amelia immediately noticed the black Ferrari with white and red stripes and a small '16' on the side.

"Char, what is your boyfriend doing here?" She asked when she turned around to the Monegasque behind her. Charlotte shrugged, but her face said something completely different. She didn't say anything further, so Amelia entered the building without asking any follow-up questions. When she got to her apartment door, she saw Charles Leclerc standing in front of it, his arms crossed while he waited for the group of girls to arrive.

"Hey, girls," Charles smiled at the group and pushed himself off the wall. He walked over to Charlotte and pressed his lips shortly to hers. He whispered something French to his girlfriend, causing her to giggle, before turning towards Amelia.

"You have twenty minutes to get dressed into something classy and meet me outside," he pointed at her, not giving any more details as he walked away from them. Amelia looked at him surprised as he left the hallway and turned to her friends.

"What the hell was that?" She asked them, knowing they knew more about this situation. She wasn't dumb.

"You heard the man. Change!" Amber exclaimed and pushed her friend towards the front door of her apartment. Amelia listened carefully to the orders of her friends and did as they asked. She entered her apartment, followed by the girls, and walked straight to the bedroom to pick out an outfit with the help of her friends. She ended up with a short white dress with a very low v-cut in the front. She put on some sheer heels and found a matching purse to carry with her tonight.

Exactly twenty minutes later, she stood outside next to Charles, together with her friends. The girls hugged her and wished her a lot of fun with whatever she was going to do. Amelia had absolutely no idea. Lando had set this up; she knew that. But would he be at the end of this surprise trip? She didn't have a clue. No one was planning on telling her anything, so she just had to wait and see.

After saying goodbye to the girls, Charles held the passenger door open for her to get in his Ferrari. He kissed his girlfriend goodbye before getting behind the wheel and driving off the apartment.

"You look amazing, Lia," he complimented the girl next to him, who was full of nerves because she didn't know what to expect.

"Do you know what I'm going to do?" She asked him, hoping for an answer from him. He only nodded as his eyes were focused on the road. "Am I going to like it?"

"You'll love it, Lia. Don't worry," he assured her and turned left to follow the road out of Monte Carlo. They drove up the hill as Monte Carlo disappeared behind them. After 15 minutes, Charles stopped his car at the entrance of some park Amelia had never been to before. Under the gate entrance of the park, she saw two guys standing. They were Max V and Daniel, who were chatting until Charles stopped his car in front of them. The two friends laughed quickly about something before Daniel walked over to the Ferrari and opened the passenger door for Amelia.

"Have fun, Lia," Charles said before Amelia grabbed Daniel's hand and got out of the car.

"Welcome, miss Norris," Daniel smirked at her and guided her towards the gate where Max was standing.

"Don't let George hear that," Max joked and gave Amelia a wink. She looked at both guys bewildered. What were they doing here? If Max and Daniel were in Monaco, that meant Lando was here too, right? She knew Lando often flew on Air Max, as he called Max's private jet.

"Are you coming with us?" Daniel asked as he hooked his arm in hers. The three of them walked over the park's main path and took a right turn to step on some side path. In the distance, Amelia saw several lights flickering, and she wondered what awaited her. Daniel and Max remained silent all the way toward the lights and stopped before the start of a path of flickering candles.

"Enjoy," Max said and nudged her a little forward. Amelia turned to the two friends and looked at them questioningly.

"Go!" Daniel demanded her laughingly and waved his hand further down the path. Amelia shook her head at the boys and turned away from them to follow the lights. Several trees stood next to the trail of candles. Amelia could see pictures of her and Lando from the past year glued to each tree. Man, there were so many. Most were made in the paddock, where they spent most of their relationship. But also photos of their several holidays together hung in between.

At the end of the path, she stumbled upon a table for two. It stood in a small open field that had a view over the whole of Monte Carlo. Around the table, more candles shaped a heart together. A massive smile formed around her lips as she walked toward the table. It was set with her favourite bites and drinks and some flower petals. But no one appeared to be there besides herself. She looked around her, searching the bushes to see if she saw something that looked like Lando's shadow. He had to be here somewhere, right?

Amelia walked further to the edge of the field and looked at the view she had of the city below her. She enjoyed the silence as she watched the lights of the cars that drove over the roads until she heard some footsteps behind her.

"Wow, you look absolutely gorgeous," a familiar voice said behind her. With the biggest smile she could have, she turned around and faced the boy she had missed dearly today. Dressed in a nice black suit, Lando stood next to the table with a bouquet of white roses in his hands. Even though she secretly knew he would show up tonight, she was surprised to see him standing there. She kept staring at him in total disbelief as she didn't know what to say.

"What? Aren't you going to give me a kiss?" Lando laughed at her. She walked over to him to quickly wrapped her arms around his shoulders, and pressed her lips firmly to his. Lando dropped the bouquet on the table so he could lay his hands on her hips, pulling her closer to him. He had missed the feeling of her lips against his, and he was already desperate for more after seeing her in that outfit that made her look absolutely stunning and sexy.

"I can't believe you're here," Amelia said out of breath after their lips had separated. Lando grinned at her and rested his hand on her cheek.

"Well, I'm full of surprises," he said cheeky and picked her lips again.

"I thought your flight was cancelled," she said and finally let go of him.

"I had to make you cancel those plans of yours some way without spilling anything about my ideas," he answered. "I'm surprised you didn't check if I was telling the truth or not."

"Well, I trust you, so I didn't have the need to do so," she winked before taking another look at the table next to them. "This is perfect, love. I couldn't have come up with anything better myself."

"I'm glad you love it, darling," Lando mumbled against the skin of her cheek as he pressed his lips against it. "Happy anniversary, babe."

Amelia turned her head towards him and looked him into his blue eyes, which had this glitter in them because of the candles surrounding them. She smiled in a way only she could do at him. It was a smile filled with love that she would carry with her for many more years.

"Happy anniversary, Lan."

GUYS WHAT THE FRICK?!!

We hit 500k reads on this book and I can't thank you enough for it!! I did NOT expect this when I made my comeback to Wattpad with this book. Like I promised you in the 'thank you' chapter, I would give you bonus chapters. Here's the first one :) Definitely expect more coming soon, since I realised how much I missed Lando and Amelia while I was writing this. But also check out 'Desire' if you haven't already.
