four >>> escape

A light slowly creeps into the room, invading my vision. Quickly, my arm flies up laying over my eyes. The light is no longer a problem but when I hear a bit of a rough, unnecessary voice, that's when I groan shaking my head.Β

"Get up or I have to force you-" Nik's voice pauses, then continues. "You won't be happy with the force."Β

A sigh escapes my lips as I remove my arm from my eyes. There I blink repeatedly, not expecting it to be that bright. It's as if a really big light was in the center of the room, lighting up everything. Thankfully, however, my eyes adjust and just as they do I hear the door shut. I jump and quickly snap my head that way finding that Nik had left.Β

I roll my eyes tossing the fur blanket off of me, glancing down at my body. The same clothes I've had for days now, stay attached to me, but what am I to do with that? Ask for clothing? Well, that would probably be the thing to do, but I don't really want to dress like the grounders. I'm happy with the clothes on my back, for the most part...With that said I slide my legs over the side of the bed and stand. I run my hands through my hair a couple times before eventually just giving up. I don't even know what I look like right now, but it doesn't really matter.Β

"You ready?" I hear a knock before hearing Nik's voice. I nod my head and quickly look around the room. Before too long my eyes land on my bag and I immediately run to it. I open it, surprised I left it unzipped, but thrilled to see everything inside that needs to be, except my pencil. Sadly. But I zip it up, swinging it over my shoulder. It doesn't take long before I hear the door open as I slip on my shoes.Β

My eyes flick to the door, spitting Nik glaring at me. I'm not entirely sure why, but it does make me hurry to put on my other boot and hurry towards the door, following him out. We walk down the halls before soon making it down to the bottom level. Not many grounders were around which I suppose is a good thing but I don't know...

Nik opens the big doors causing a bright light to appear in front of me. I lift up my hand, covering my eyes a bit, stepping forwards, following Nik out. Eventually, I put my hand down beginning to feel a lot of eyes on me as I follow behind Nik. My eyes trail around locking eyes with a lot of grounders. My teeth sink into my bottom lip and I glance to the ground quickening my pace to walk side by side with Nik.Β

"Why is everyone staring at me?" I ask looking to the grounder. He keeps his eyes straight ahead, continuing to walk.Β

"You are Skaikru," he says, simply. I nod slowly, tearing my eyes away looking to the ground. I watch my feet and pay attention to the gravel, racking my brain for something but I don't get anything. I'm sure the grounders hate seeing me, especially just roaming around. I'm sure they want me dead just like they want my people dead, but I can't do much about that, can I?

"This is the market. Roam freely but stay where I can see you," Nik said. I pick up my head already seeing the grounder walking away from me. A soft sigh escapes my lips as I take a swift look around. The place I was, was extremely busy. It reminds me of the cafe on the Arc or when we had dances. I never really participated at the dances but the drawings, the sketches I got were amazing to say the least. But I think this Market is way more people. MY eyes look in every direction, standing in the mist of it all. Throughout look I spot a fight break out between someone grabbing something and handing it to someone else. The clerk selling shouts loudly and begins getting louder and louder. Everyone had stopped what they were doing, paying attention to the scene and that's when the two customers take off running. The split up, one ran away from where I stood, the other running right towards me.Β

My eyes widen. I have no idea what to do. IΒ  begin looking in all directions hearing the clerk shout and that's when I look straight ahead seeing the grounder run towards me at a faster rate. And without a second thought I step off to the side sticking out my foot. Within moments the thief hits my leg, stumbling down to the ground. I back up facing the grounder thief as two grounders walk up to him beginning to kick and punch him.Β

Everyone watches for a split second before continuing on with what they were doing. I look around at all of them then focus on the scene in front of me. I can't believe they're just...just letting this happen. Like this is normal? It's not. Arrest them, not torture him!

Quickly, I take a step forward ready to strike one of the grounders when I feel a hand grab my bag and pull me back, pushing me behind them. I look up to see the back of Nik. He doesn't turn to look at me, instead he steps in on the action along with another random grounder. I sink my teeth into my lip shaking my head from side to side, before taking a look around. No ones really paying attention. Wait... My eyes shift to Nik who is...Honestly I don't know if he's trying to help or get in on it. Either way this is a perfect opportunity to get the hell out of here...

I turn on my heels quickly and take off to where the other thief grounder had taken off. I run fast. My shoes hitting the gravel pretty hard, but that doesn't stop me. The air is cool against my face. Something I haven't felt for a while...Since I was running behind Raven after Jasper began shouting about the grounders in the trees. Man...Do I miss that dork.Β

I make a right turn after a moment,Β  beginning to run behind some buildings. I'm running for quite a bit not really seeing anybody. Which is great but I have no bloody clue how to get out of this place. That's when I slow down, coming to a stop for a moment. My eyes glance behind me, finding no one. That's when I begin walking in front of me. One step at a time making sure to be as careful as I can. Nik has got to know I'm gone by now. It's only a matter of time-

A scream escapes my lips as I feel an arm wrap around my waist and a hand cup over my mouth. Everything sort of flashes in front of me before I feel my back against a wall and my eyes meet desperate brown ones. I stop struggling finally hearing the person's voice in front of me.Β

"I'm going to remove my hand now," Kane's voice said as his eyes look back and forth between mine. Slowly I nod my head up and down feeling his hand remove from my mouth. I stare at him in shock, not able to process him truly being in front of me. Last time I seen this dude was when he was arresting me for such a bullshit reason. But that was the Arc for you. But him being in grounder territory...Does that mean he snuck in and there's more of them? Or is he a prisoner trying to escape?Β

"Y/N," he said a bit loud grabbing my shoulders giving them a tight squeeze. My eyes blink focusing on the man before me, watching his eyes look back and forth between mine. "Are you okay? Did they hurt you?"Β

"I-I'm fine," I answer, shrugging his hands off of me. His hands drop to his sides, but his brown eyes never leave mine.Β

"How'd you get here?"Β

"I-I could ask you the same thing."Β

Kane nods, running his hand through his hair, taking a step back. I look away from him looking around, watching out for the grounders.Β

"I came here to make peace with the commander," Kane speaks. This brings my eyes right back to him, tilting my head to the side waiting. "I've been held prisoner for a while and seen you walking around here. How long have you been here?"Β

"I don't know..." I drop my head, closing my eyes a second but quickly open them back up and look to the guardsman. "But I h-haven't gotten killed yet."Β

"Well that is a good thing-" He pauses shifting where he stood. "You weren't in the holding cell. Where have they put you."Β

"In the large tower with the commander."Β

"With the commander? Hmm..." He finally tears his eyes away from me. I do the same, looking around once more. "Tell you what...I take it you're trying to get out of here. I'll make a distraction and you run as fast as you can to our people."Β

I nod my head up and down slowly as Kane turns on his heels. But before he can go anywhere I take a step forward grabbing his hand. He stops and turns, our eyes lock and I sink my teeth into my lip feeling a bit like a burden as he stares back at me.Β

"Kane...I have n-no idea where I am. L-Let alone how to get o-out of here and b-back to our p-people."Β

The brown eyed man looks down, his eyes shutting. I watch him, feeling a bit bad, but what do I do? I mean I had to tell him right? Or I could've just went with it. Try and find a way out. A soft sigh escapes my lips as I glance down at my shoes.Β

"Clarke mentioned that," Kane whispers. I pick up my head, meeting Kane's eyes. He moves his hand away from mine as I was holding it. He places that hand on my shoulder looking directly into my eyes. "Alright...Follow behind these buildings. There's got to be an exit sooner than later. I'll distract the grounders as much as I can."Β

I slowly nod my head feeling him squeeze my shoulder before releasing and pushing me gentle passed him. I glance to him once as he gestures his hands for me to go on. A soft, barely audible sigh escapes my lips, my head nodding once turning back around. My legs begin taking me quicker as my hands grip the straps of my bag, feeling something in my stomach twist. But I ignore it, continuing on seeing an opening up ahead. And without a second thought I drop my hands from my bag and take off running, heading straight for the exist.Β

<<<<>>>>

Sticks and leaves crack and break beneath my feet as I run fast. I haven't even bothered to look behind me. It's probably best to just keep my eyes straight ahead and to continue running as fast as I can. As fast as my legs will carry me. With birds chirping around me and strange noises all around as I begin taking multiple twists and turns.Β

My head becomes blank. Every part of me focusing on running and finding my people. But as I run my eyes scan the area. Everything surrounding me looked the same. It was all just trees. A heavy sigh escapes my lips as I come to a sudden stop, bending over a moment. I place my hands on my knees looking to the ground. I close my eyes a moment, taking deep breathes to try and catch my breathe from all the running. And it's not long before I stand back up, opening my eyes slowly. But as fast as I do that I instantly felt something hit me in the back of the head.Β

I fall forwards feeling my body hit the ground. My eyes close for a split second, opening moments later finding someone up close to my face. Black paint was smeared against his face as he tilted his head to the side. I close my eyes after a moment then reopen hearing talking in grounder language. Shit.Β Quickly, or well to the best of my ability I pick up my head but as soon as I do I feel myself become dizzy. I drop my head a second, closing my eyes when I hear a voice. A familiar voice but I don't think it belonged to the grounders.Β

"Keep fighting,"Β the voice spoke once more. I open my eyes, picking up my head gently. From there I see in front of me and slowly begin crawling placing one arm in front then the next, dragging my body and legs along. Laughter fills my ears as I feel a strong heavy boot kick the side of me sending me flying over, gasping for some type of air. Words are spoken, but I can't make them out as I stare up at the sky. Within a few seconds I feel hands on me, prying the bag off of my back. I let them at this point before feeling kick after kick and punch after punch to my sides, stomach and face. And with each attack the more I felt my body becoming more numb than before. That's when my brain begins to question everything and saying goodbye to everyone I've ever known inside of my head...I close my eyes thinking of Clarke first. She took care of me a lot after my parents were floated. Even visited me when they arrested me...Then there's Clarke's mom. Abby. She's a good mom and took me in really...Raven. I miss that mechanic. I really do and her sense of humor... Jasper. I miss that dork and his constant worriness...Monty. God he was such a damn genius. Bet he'd of escaped the grounders...Octavia. A powerful woman who does whatever the hell she wants. I miss her...Bellamy. He's a jerk and an asshat, yet I miss his curly hair and the way him and Clarke led us...Finn. I miss his carefree energy. We never really got to talk...Murphy. I never really knew how I felt about him, but I miss his stupid little comments...

"Hey, Heda said not to harm her," a voice spoke interrupting my thoughts. That's when I felt everything. My whole body ached. I open my eyes for a brief moment but I can't even keep them open. Quickly I shut them rolling onto my side, wrapping my arms around my stomach. I curl into a ball hearing more talking in grounder language before hearing perfect English.Β

"Head said so what's needed-" the grounder pauses, then continues. "I think we had to do what we had to-"

"She's not going to be happy about this," another spoke, followed by rustling leaves.Β

"Too late now. Gus tie the girl up."Β

Within a few moments I feel hands grab my wrists pulling them behind my back. A loud, blood piercing scream escapes my lips. I could hear birds in the distant fly away from the places in the trees. My eyes remain closed feeling stinging, aching pains all over as the grounder loosens my hands. There's talk between some of them as I try to curl back into a ball, but I can't. Gus' hands wrap around my wrist pulling them behind my back once more. Another blood piercing scream echoes from my lips just as a hand cups over them quickly. From there I feel rope tied tightly around my wrist and pulled together. I can feel the knot he ties and when I try to move I feel the rope tighten. My eyes squeeze together tightly. The hand against my mouth removes itself but is replaced by a cloth. They shove it into my mouth, tying it off behind my head.

I don't bother to open my eyes. I stay still trying to contain the throbbing of my head and stomach and my sides. I've never experienced so much pain and honestly...I wish they would've just killed me...

"We should go!" A grounder speaks out. "Grab the girl. Let's get her back to Polis and to the commander."Β

And just like that I feel someone pick me up followed by another. Slowly, I barely open my eyes looking around. My eyes open and close repeatedly but what I can see is a grounder on a horse riding in front of us. Two grounders are on either side of me. Dragging me across the ground. I don't even bother to fight it. I can't. Everything feels way too bad. So, I close my eyes and drop my head. I can't even think of what Lexa would do once we're back...Β
