A week had passed since your first day at PK academy. As expected, you ended up growing closer to the strange, yet kind classmates that helped you settle in on your first day. Whether it was walking home together, getting ramen or going to the arcade, you did a lot with these guys. It made you feel like a real part of the group.

Despite getting along really well with Kaidou, Kuboyasu, and unexpectedly- even Nendou, there was still one person who was practically a stranger to you:

Saiki Kusuo.

It had already been a week, but you knew practically nothing about this guy. Well, apart from his love for desserts. Being an empath, getting to know someone had never been this difficult before. Through just understanding people's emotions, you could learn a lot about them, whether it was something they enjoyed doing or the people they liked to spend time with. But even after a week, you hadn't sensed a singular emotion from Saiki. Not knowing if it was your powers at fault or just him, you made it your mission to make him feel an intense enough emotion for you to pick up on.

The weekend had arrived and you were beginning to get low on food and other basic supplies, so you headed out to a nearby convenience store. Leaving the house by yourself left you feeling anxious, having to go shopping made it even worse. That's why you'd come to the decision that you'd only shop at small convenience stores that were unlikely to even have another soul in there at the same time as you.

But it wasn't soon after your arrival you noticed a familiar pink head. Saiki was intensely analyzing the coffee jelly on the shelves, trying to decide which brand he should purchase. You walked up to him from behind and lightly tapped him on the shoulder, "Hi, Saiki." He jumped at your sudden appearance, furrowing his brows and turning to face you. He gave you a small nod. Saiki was often taken by surprise by you, which left you puzzled. If only I knew why...

Saiki's POV: Good grief, she scared me. I'm not used to people being able to sneak up behind me. I was hoping I wouldn't run into anyone I know today as I want to spend my precious weekend in peace... that's why I purposely decided to shop at this store.

You weren't expecting to run into anyone you knew today. In most situations, if you spotted someone you knew you'd go out of your way to avoid them, even if it meant going to a completely different store to do your shopping. For some reason, you felt compelled to talk to Saiki, even if neither of you had much to say.

"I'm here for some shopping since I'm starting to run low on things. Ah, I guess that's already a given haha." You nervously let out a small laugh, of course, no response from Saiki. The fact that you've barely heard him talk over the past week actually didn't bother you much. "Well.. I'll leave you to do what you're doing and I'll go on with my shopping.. see you later, Saiki!" You gave him a quick wave goodbye and walked to a different aisle so it'd be less awkward for both you and him.

10 minutes passed and you were done, you checked your messily written shopping list to confirm you had everything and walked up to the counter to pay. As the man scanned your items you looked over your shoulder to see what Saiki was up to. He's still deciding between the two pack and the four pack of coffee jelly..?

Just as the man was adding up the total costs, you noticed someone walk through the door.

A face mask, cap, sunglasses, dark baggy clothes, hunched posture... that's definitely a criminal, right?? Is he gonna rob the store? Should I run?! This is bad this is bad this is bad...!

Before having a nervous breakdown, you noticed this guy wasn't a threat at all by reading his emotions. They were completely pure, in fact, he gave off a very kind, caring vibe. Sorry for suspecting you, random stranger. Ha ha, I can't believe I thought the store was gonna be robbed. That'd be too cliche and exciting for a simple convenience store...

Just as you turned your head back to pay for your groceries, you heard the door open a second time. ANOTHER person? I really thought I did something by coming to the smallest, most hidden convenience store I could find, but I guess not.. the universe just loves to prove me wrong.

You whipped your head back to where the door was. Oh, it's just some regular looking gu- WHAT IN THE HELL?! It didn't take you long to realise that he had very malicious intentions. You froze up and started to sweat, the cashier looked at you with concern.

Dammit y/n, that's what you get for thinking like that. I totally manifested some criminal into the store. Please just tell me he just came in for a chocolate bar before heading off to murder someone else... wait, that didn't come out right.

"N- no one move!" the seemingly regular looking guy shouted out. He pulled out a gun and pointed it around the room, his hands trembling. The elderly cashier held his hands up in the air, visibly scared.

A GUN?! Slow down- I didn't think these kind of things happened in places like this..! It's small, there's barely any people, we're more isolated than most stores... actually, now that I think about it, it does make more sense to target a place like this. What's with my luck!?

"You! Walk over to the front!" the crook pointed the gun towards the man from earlier who you accidentally assumed was the burglar.

What about Saiki..? Wait, where is he? He didn't leave so the robber mustn't know he's here! That's good! Maybe he can get some help.

Saiki was crouched down, hidden behind the shelves.

Saiki's POV: This is bad. Thanks to my ability to read thoughts, I knew he was going to rob the store just before he walked in. This gave me time to hide, but now what do I do? Yes, I could use my powers, but that could expose me. I need to figure something out, and quick, y/n is in danger.

"YOU!" you were startled by the man suddenly aiming the gun at you.

WHY ME!? Start robbing the cash register or something instead! (Sorry store owner).

The man walked up to you and opened up a small, black bag with his free hand. "Put any money you've got in the bag."

"Ok, ok!" you reluctantly reached into your pocket. "Ah, it's not here.. maybe the other pocket..?" you began to sweat like some comical cartoon character. Your legs wobbled like jelly and your arms moved in a robotic, jittery motion as you reached into your second pocket.

SHIIIIIITTT. I FORGOT MY WALLET. I'm so screwed, I'm so screwed, I'm so screwed...

Saiki couldn't read your mind but he knew there was something very wrong. You quickly moved your hands up from your pockets to show you didn't have anything and planned to explain, but your sudden movement startled the robber, causing him to instinctively turn off the safety.

"Shit!" Saiki read his mind and knew he was about to pull the trigger, he jumped up and ran towards you.

Obviously terrified, you took a step back, slipping on a perfectly positioned puddle right behind you. This sent your foot flying towards the criminal, kicking the gun straight out of his hands just as he pulled the trigger. The bullet traveled through the air, into the ceiling, missing you.

WHAT IN THE ANIME TYPE CLUMSINESS!? Did I just? What happened? The gun-? Did he-? What-? Thoughts rushed through your head as you struggled to process what just happened. You sat on the floor, unable to even move an inch. The masked man from earlier tackled the robber, pinning him to the ground as the store manager took care of the gun lying on the ground.

Saiki ran up to you, placing a hand on your back as some form of support. He was glad you weren't hurt.

It didn't take long for the police to show up. Everything was resolved and you and Saiki were allowed to leave. Except... you had to leave without your groceries since you didn't bring any money.

You walked with Saiki, your legs still trembling from the adrenaline. Not even a minute of walking later, everything you'd been thinking came out at once. "SAIKI DID YOU SEE THAT? I still can't believe what just happened.. I kicked a GUN, out of someone's HAND. How am I still alive? That bullet almost hit me! I could be dead but I'm not! Or at least, I don't think I'm dead.." you let out a nervous laugh, still in denial of that crazy incident.

"You're not dead." Saiki stated.

Saiki's POV: Good grief that was close... how is she even laughing right now after something like that? But, I have to thank her. If it wasn't for her clumsiness in there, I would be in danger of exposing my powers in front of people. In the end, I had to use my telekinesis to move the bullet. If I didn't... yeah, she'd be dead. But from all the chaos, no one suspected or noticed a thing. Thank you, y/n.

Saiki softly smiled.

Saiki is.. smiling? Out of everything that's happened today, this is the least expected. I still don't feel anything from him with my powers though...

"So Saiki... what coffee jelly did you end up getting?"

"Ah." Saiki stopped in his tracks. Turns out that after all that, he forgot about the very thing he was there for in the first place.

Saiki's POV: I take back that thank you.
