chapter twenty: he's dead

"yes, you do."

aurora and scott was still running through the woods. aurora had stopped, trying to catch her breath from all of the running that they were doing.

scott had ended up tripping and falling. aurora leaned on a tree, processing what had just happened. the hunters know about them. allison knows about them.

it was over.

aurora felt her eyes flash to white, getting angry at the thought of how this could ruin everything with allison. she punched the tree that was leaning on, feeling the pain go up her arm.

she then began to yell, not only from the pain from her hand but from the anger that she felt.

"aurora." scott called, picking himself up from the ground.

aurora looked down at her hand, seeing that a bone was misplaced. she closed her eyes before she took a deep breath and snapped it back into place, feeling her hand start to heal.

"aurora, come on." scott said, grabbing her arm.

"where are we gonna go?" aurora asked, looking at scott. "they know who we are now, we can't go home. and we can't go to stiles'."

"the animal clinic." scott said, shrugging. "that'll give us some time."

"okay." aurora said.

the two walked off. aurora pulled out her phone, slowing her movements. she couldn't get allison out of her mind, she needed to do something. she clicked on allison's contact.

i'm sorry that u had to find out that way. i wanted to tell u, but i couldn't. i'm sorry.

she then turned her phone off before catching up with scott. the two got to the clinic, locking the doors before they went into the back room. they sat in the floor, not saying a word.

and that's how it stayed for about an hour. no one saying anything, not even looking at one another. but then their heads shot up once they heard the dogs start to bark and howl from the room.

the two teens looked at each other, eyebrows furrowed. and then they both got the same idea. they quickly got up and left the animal clinic.

aurora ran back home quickly, sneaking through her window since max was home. she quickly put on a pair of jeans and slipped one of her hoodies on. she put her doc martens back on before she jumped out the window and ran through the woods. she jumped over branches before she climbed up to the cliff that overlooked the town.

she stopped once she saw that scott was already there, waiting for her.

"you ready?" he asked, walking up to the rocks that was on the edge of the cliff.

"ready as i'll ever be." aurora said following him.

the two shifted, taking in a deep breath before they turned towards the town, the moon illuminating the town. they let out a howl, knowing that they were heard.

they backed away from the cliff looking at each other before they fist bumped. they went to go walk away before the stopped, heading a howl in the distance.

the two took off, running towards the direction that the howl came from. they knew exactly where to go. and who the howl belonged to.

they arrived at the hale house, eyebrows furrowed.

"he's not in there." aurora said.

scott put slapped her arm, facing the opposite direction of the house. she furrowed her eyebrows to see that he was smelling the air. she did the same, smelling the air and catching on to derek's scent.

she followed it, stopping once she got to an opening. it had a gate on it. aurora looked at scott before she pulled on the gate, it opening. they walked in, careful not to make any noise.

they heard one of the hunters in the room, making them stop in the doorway of the room. they saw the hunter swing a bat at derek, but the hale man stopped it.

aurora cracked her neck and rolled her shoulders back to release her muscles.

"i brought a little help too." derek said.

this made the hunter turn around, seeing scott and aurora standing in the doorway. he then turned back towards derek who punched him, making him fly back.

aurora walked towards derek, seeing that one of his hands were chained to a gate and that he had wires connected to his side. he ripped the wires from off his side before pulling at the chains on his hand.

"guys, help me with this."

"no." scott said.

"aurora?" derek questioned, looking at the hastings girl.

"not until you tell us how to stop peter." aurora said.

"you two really wanna talk about this right now?" derek asked.

"he's going after allison and her family. he's going to kill them." scott said.

"so what?" derek asked, his voice raising.

"so tell us how to stop him." aurora said.

"you can't! all right? now -" derek said before he pulled at the chains. "i don't know when kate's coming back, so just get me out of this right now! get me out right now!"

"promise you'll help us." aurora said.

"you want me to risk my life for the girl you love, huh?" derek questioned, getting close to aurora. "for your stupid little teenage crush that means nothing? you two are not in love. you're both 16 years old. you're children."

"maybe you're right." scott said. "but we know something you don't."

derek looked at aurora, who was looking at scott.

"remember when peter said he didn't know what he was doing when he killed laura?" aurora asked. "he lied."

scott showed derek the picture of the dead with the spiral on the body. "remember this? this is what brought your sister back to beacon hills, right?"

"where did you get that?" derek asked.

"our boss told us three months ago someone came into the clinic asking for a copy of this picture." aurora explained. "do you wanna know who it was?"

"peter's nurse." scott answered, still holding the picture. "they brought your sister here so that peter could kill her and become the alpha. and that's why you're going to help us."

"just say you'll help us, and i'll unlock your other -" aurora started, but derek took the chain off swiftly. "never mind."

"i'll help you." derek said.

aurora smiled slightly, looking over at scott.

they waited for derek to get dressed before they left the little underground bunker. they started to walk to the hale house, but derek came to a stop, breathing heavily.

"something doesn't feel right." he told the two teens, making them stop as well.

aurora furrowed her eyebrows feeling the same way. this feeling came over her, a chill running up and down her spine.

"what do you mean?" scott asked.

"i don't know. it was - it's kinda like it was too -" derek started.

"no, don't say 'too easy.'" scott said. "people say 'too easy and bad things happen. what do you think finding you was easy? getting away from allison's dad? none of this has been easy."

"fine. you're right." derek said.

"actually, guys -" aurora started but was interrupted by the sound of an arrow flying through the air.

and that's what it was. the arrow hit derek in the shoulder, making him fall to the ground.

aurora looked at derek before looking around, her eyes landing on allison and kate, the younger argent having a bow and arrow in her hands.

"allison?" aurora said, making scott follow her gaze to see the duo.

"now the leg." kate told allison.

this made her shoot the arrow at derek's leg, making him fall back to the ground.

"flash bolt."

"guys, your eyes!" derek yelled.

"now." kate said, allison letting go of the arrow, making it fly through the air and hit the tree that was behind aurora and scott.

it caused a bright light to happen, temporarily blinding the two teen wolves. derek took the arrows out of his shoulder and leg and limped over to scott and aurora.

"rori!" derek called.

aurora blinked a few times, her eyes flashing from her brown eyes to her white ones, making her vision slightly better.

"i'm okay. get scott." aurora said, still blinking rapidly.

she looked over at allison, but saw kate walking over to them.

"shit." she said, following derek and scott, making sure not to trip over anything.

derek fell on the ground, pushing scott further. But aurora tripped on scott's leg, making her frown slightly. she closed her eyes before opening them again, showing her white eyes.

"allison -" aurora said, not being able to see her clearly.

"allison, i can explain." scott said.

"stop lying." allison said, walking towards the duo. "for once stop lying."

"i was gonna tell you the truth at the formal. i was gonna tell you everything." scott said, backing away. "because everything that i said, everything that i did -"

"was to protect me." allison finished.

"yes."

"i don't believe you." allison simply said.

"yes, you do." aurora said, her eyes still white, her vision red because of her wolf abilities. this made allison turn to aurora, seeing her white eyes. "even if your aunt got inside your head, you still believe him. because you know it's true. you know we would never hurt you."

aurora made her eyes go back to their chocolate brown orbs, being able to see a lot better now. this made allison's hear skip a beat.

she took in a deep breath, "i don't. . . believe you."

"thank god." the voice of kate said, making the trio turn to face her as she walked towards them. "now, shoot them before i have to shoot myself.

"you - you said we were just gonna catch them." allison said to her aunt.

"we did that. now we're gonna kill them." kate said, still walking towards them.

she then took out a gun and shot derek. where at exactly? aurora didn't know, but it made her heart drop as derek fell back onto the ground.

"see? not that hard." she said walking towards her niece. "oh, no. . . i know that look. that's the 'you're gonna have to do it yourself' look."

she then pointed the gun at aurora, making the hastings girl back up slightly. she stared at the gun before looking back up at kate, looking her in the eyes.

"kate? kate what are you doing?" allison asked, going to stop her aunt, but kate push her down.

"i never told you how much i love those brown eyes of yours, aurora." kate told aurora, the teenage girl looking over at allison to make sure that she's okay.

"kate!" a familiar voice called out, making everyone turn towards it. "i know what you did."

it was chris.

"put the gun down." chris told his sister.

"i did what i was told to do." kate reasoned.

"no one asked you to murder innocent people. there were children in that house, ones that were human." chris told her sister. "look what you're doing. you're holding a gun at a 16 - year - old girl with no proof he spilled human blood. we go by the code"

he then says something in french, making aurora and scott look at each other with furrowed eyebrows.

"we hung those who hunt us." allison translated, aurora looking over at her.

she then heard the sound of the trigger being squeezed, making aurora look at the gun, seeing kate's finger tightening her grip on the gun.

"put the gun down." chris said, making aurora look at him to see that he had a gun pointed at kate.

he then pulled the trigger, a bullet hitting a tree that was behind kate.

"before i put you down." chris finished, still pointing the gun at kate.

kate slowly put the gun down, making aurora release a breath. she then feels the hairs on the back of her neck stand up as she hears the front door to the hale house creek open.

"allison, get back." chris demanded.

scott and aurora quickly got up, aurora helping allison stand up and pushing her behind herself. kate and chris aimed their guns at the door.

"what is it?" allison asked.

aurora made her eyes glow white again, "it's the alpha."

the alpha ran out the house and past the group, making them turn towards the direction it ran towards. it then ran past them again, knocking chris to the ground. it did it again, allison and aurora hitting the ground. next was scott.

the only person left standing was kate, holding her gun firmly in her hand as she looked around for the man beast.

"come on! come on!" she yelled before turning, but someone grabbed her wrist, a gunshot ringing in the air.

aurora looked to see that it was peter, calmly twisting kate's arm as she pulled the trigger again. he then punched her arm, making the gun drop from out of her hands.

aurora got onto her knees, making sure that she was covering allison just in case.

she watched as peter wrapped his hand around kate's throat before he threw her, making her land on the porch of burnt house. peter then walked over to her, picking her up and dragging her inside the house.

"no!" allison yelled, running inside the house.

"allison!" aurora yelled, trying to grab her.

"she is beautiful kate." aurora heard peter say as she began to walk towards the house.

she gently stepped onto the the porch, hiding behind the burnt door.

"she looks like you. probably not as damaged. so i'm going to give you a chance to save her. apologize." peter said. aurora peaked from behind the door, seeing that peter had his claws on kate's throat. "say that you're sorry for decimating my family, for leaving me burned and broken for six years. say it. . . and i'll let her live."

"i'm sorry." kate said softly.

peter slashed his claws against kate's throat, blood splattering everywhere. aurora closed her eyes, not wanting to see kate's body fall. she heard allison gasp for air, having just seeing her aunt die.

"i don't know about you, allison. but that apology. . . didn't sound very sincere." peter said before he took a few steps forward.

aurora quickly ran from behind the door, instantly shifting. she stopped next to allison, growling lowly as she glared at peter. scott then appeared on the other side of allison, fully shifted as well. derek came from the opposite door, full shifted.

"run." aurora told allison, the argent girl doing as told.

the trio ran up to peter, the alpha pushing scott and derek while he kicked aurora, making all three of them fall. derek got up and swung at peter, but he dodged it and picked the younger hale up into a beam. derek got right back up but peter pushed him into something.

scott then jumped onto peter's back, but he flipped the beta wolf over. he then grabbed scott by the collar of his jacket and dragged him against the floor and into the something.

aurora got up, going to swing at peter. she slashed his cheek with her claws, going to swing with the other hand, but he dodged it. he went to go push her, but she grabbed his hand and pulled him towards her.

peter raised an eyebrow, shocked by her strength. he knew she could beat him, but she didn't believe that herself, so he had an advantage.

peter head butted aurora, making her let go of his hand. he then kicked her back, making her stumble back into the wall, hitting her head.

derek shot up again, running up to derek and jumping up to put his foot on peter's chest, flipping. this made peter stumble a little. derek stood up again, peter backhand slapping him before slashing him in his back, making him fall.

peter than picked up derek and threw him towards scott, making the mccall boy go stumbling to the door again.

derek jumped up, running on all fours as he climbed up the furniture, but peter grabbed him and threw him into a wall.

scott growled, running to peter to try and tackle him. but peter grabbed scott and started to knee him in his stomach before he threw him against a wall. he went to go punch the young werewolf, but scott dodged it and pushed peter against the wall, getting a few punches in.

peter than growled before he elbowed scott in the face, making the mccall boy stumble back. he then wrapped his hands around scott's throat, scott punching him in his face a few times, but it did nothing. peter then threw scott against the top of the doorframe, making him hit the ground.

aurora jumped up, jumping on peter's back. she elbowed him in the neck, making him let out a growl. she continued to elbow him before she put him into a choke hold, making it tighter and tighter.

but peter grabbed aurora by her hoodie and threw her into the fire place, the hastings girl hitting the ground with a groan.

scott and aurora looked at each other, hearing peter start to make noises and growls. they looked at him, seeing that he was shifting. but not like scott and aurora, his whole body was shifting in the man beast.

aurora tried to back away, but stopped once she realized that peter was looking at her, his red eyes meeting her white eyes. he walked towards her, quickly picking her up and throwing her out the window.

she felt a few shards cut her skin, but the worst pain was hitting the ground. she groaned as looked around, seeing allison hovering her dad, who was unconscious from earlier.

the sound of the alpha jumping through the wall caught aurora's attention, growling. he quickly came towards her, picking her from the ground and in the air.

scott came running out of the house, watching the scene in front of him. he jumped tried to jump on the alpha, but the beast simply slapped him away.

he growled in her face, but all she did was glare at him. she growled back before she used her foot to push herself out of his grip and landed on her feet. this made peter stumble back into the porch.

the sound of a car horn honking caught aurora's attention, making her look to her right. she saw jackson and stiles get out of jackson's porsche, the same bomb in hand that lydia made that night at the school.

the stilinksi boy threw it at the alpha, but he caught it.

aurora then remembered that allison had dropped her bow on the ground, looking towards it. she quickly grabbed it.

"allison!" she called, catching said girl's attention.

aurora quickly threw it at the argent girl, her catching. aurora watched as allison put the arrow in the bow and pulled back. she quickly aimed, seeing that the alpha was about to throw the bomb at her but she let go of the arrow, making the bomb ignite in the alpha's hand.

aurora backed up as the alpha shook his arm, as if that was gonna make his arm not he on fire anymore. jackson then threw another bomb, it exploding on the alpha's back making his whol body catch on fire.

the alpha growled before he looked at allison. he started to run towards her but scott and aurora ran up to him. scott punched him in the face, while aurora kicked him in the back, hard.

she looked down to see that her boot was on fire, making her stomp it out before she just untied it and flung it off her foot.

the fire had started to go out, the alpha starting to shift back into peter, who was completely burnt. head to toe. he gasped for air as he looked at his body. he then fell backwards, his body going limp.

she turned around to see allison and scott kissing, the mccall boy shifting back to his regular self. aurora felt her heart break as she shifted back as well.

"why did you do that?" scott asked.

"because i love you." allison answered, her voice barely above a whisper.

aurora eyebrows furrowed as she heard allison's skip beat, meaning she was lying.

does it look like she's lying, aurora? she asked herself. you just wished that was you.

aurora's eyes moved towards chris, who was now standing. he was looking at the couple on the ground, seeing how much his daughter loved scott.

aurora then heard footsteps, making her turns toward them. she saw derek walking towards peter burnt body on the ground. aurora quickly looked at scott, hoping that he understood what derek was about to do.

scott realized, getting up from the ground and running towards derek. "wait! you said the fire comes from the one who bit you. derek, if you do this, i'm dead. her father, her family. what am i supposed to do?"

"you've. . . already. . . decided." aurora heard peter breath out softly, making aurora furrow her eyebrows. "i can smell it on you."

aurora eyes widened as she watched derek raise his hand up, his claws extended.

"wait! no, no, no! don't!" scott yelled, but derek slashed his claws across peter's throat.

she watch as derek got up, slowly turning to face them. he looked at aurora and then scott.

"i'm the alpha now." he said deeply, showing his new red eyes.

"yeah, we can see that. thank you for that, though." aurora stated sarcastically.

later on that week, scott and aurora had found out that lydia was in the hospital because peter had bit her. so they decided, along with stiles, that it would be a good idea for them to sneak into her hospital room.

which is what they did.

"close the door." scott whispered to stiles.

the spastic boy started to close the door slowly, but stopped once it had started to creek. this made aurora roll her eyes, watching as he continued to close the door slowly, it creeping even loud before it was completely shut. he then locked before falling on the floor.

aurora and scott looked at him, making him look back confused.

"what?"

"nothing, smarty." aurora said as her and scott got up from the floor, since they crawled in.

stiles followed them, the trio looking through the windows that led to the hall, making sure no one was out there. aurora had lifted up lydia's hospital gown, seeing the bloodied gauze that was taped to her side.

she began to peel the tape before pulling the gauze, checking to see if the bite from peter had healed or not.

"is it completely healed?" stiles asked, looking away.

"no, not at all." aurora answered.

this made stiles look at the wound, seeing that it was stitched up.

"the doctor said she'd be fine." stiles said.

"yeah, but the bites not healing like it did with scott or me." aurora said, putting the gauze back and pushing the tape on lydia's skin. "which means. . ."

"she's not a werewolf." scott finished.

"then what the hell is she?" stiles asked.

"it looks like her body is just rejecting the bite. i mean, didn't the doctors say that her body's acting like it's having an allergic reaction, going into shock?" aurora questioned."

"yeah, but -" stiles started. "i don't know."

last episode for season one guys!!!! i'm excited for season two in all honesty. but i hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, cause i loved writing it, even if i did struggle a bit.
