chapter thirty one

Cassandra's pov

I winced at the sunlight that peered threw the thin curtains, and yawned trying to wipe my eyes of the exhaustion that was blinding me. I glanced over to the side of the bed where Hailey fell asleep but she wasn't there. She probably went to take a shower. Dexter had taken her spot and was stretched out in the bed. He came down to join us sleeping in here last night. Hailey said he had issues sleeping by himself. I remember telling her how sad that was, and she just mumbled her usual 'he'll be ight,' and went back to sleep. I sighed and sat up accidentally waking up Dexter in the process. He perked his head up sleepily, I gave him a small scratch behind his ear. He must have have been content with that because it didn't take him too long to fall back asleep. Both of my suitcases was against the dresser, she must have had someone bring them in from her car.

I got up and grabbed the suitcase that had more clothes than anything else. I looked threw it for awhile until I decided on a look that was simple. A black graphic t-shirt, dark grey sweatpants, and my black vans. I gathered my soap, lotions, dry towel, and washcloth, then heading to the bathroom.

It took me awhile to figure everything out. There was no shower head, or anything that indicated a shower was in here except for a shower curtain. I was about to give up and go ask for help until I realized there was some type of tablet on the wall. I tapped the power button and the water started spraying from the wall inside the tub. I could change the temperature, the water flow, play music, I could add steam. I just ended up on a warm shower and showered for fifteen minutes. Got dressed, washed my face, brushed my teeth, and did my edges.

I made sure to leave everything how it was and clean up after myself, before gathering my purse and taking my phone off the charger. Dexter sensed I was leaving so he got up and followed after me. I walked up the stairs and saw Kash, Axel, Yara, and Malik sitting at the kitchen table eating breakfast, while Rosie, Daniel, Jalen, Demi, and Victoria, were sitting at the kitchen island eating. Hailey wasn't anywhere in sight though. They didn't notice I was here, they just kept talking amongst themselves.

"Pass the fuckin' cereal?" Axel told anyone who was willing to pass it over to him.

"You eating cereal and Fantasia just sat up here and cooked all this food? Fuck wrong with you?" Kash glared at him.

"Bitches ain't never had shit, don't know how to appreciate good things." Rosie mumbled bitting into a green apple.

"No, I do not. So go ahead and pass the cereal, bitch." Axel rolled his eyes.

Rosie reached over and grabbed the apple jacks from across the table, and walked over to Axel then smacked the box across his head and let it fall to the ground. "Play with ya mother, and not me, hoe."

"Hoe," He mutter harshly when she sat down.

"Do I have to smack you again?" Rosie asked standing up a bit.

Axel didn't say anything and Rosie sat back down to eat her food.

"Is your cheek bruising?" Demi questioned looking over Axel's face.

Jalen observed the bruise forming on Axel's cheek. "Her ass heavy handed."

"You can scoot over, Axel. I don't want you to get yo hurt all over my coat. I just got this. It's vintage." Yara frowned moving her plate and herself away from him.

"His hurt?" Daniel raised a brow. "Is that a thing?" Yara shrugged taking a sip of her orange juice and that's when she noticed I was here. "Cassandra?" Everyone turned their heads to where I was standing.

Demi squealed. "Ooh, what are you doing here?" She ran up on me and threw her arms around my neck. The dark haired girl turned to everyone sitting down before I could speak. "She prefers 'Cassie' just so you know. Only Hail calls her Cassandra."

"Hailey actually invited me over." I say and Daniel's eyes widen a little. "Have y'all seen her?"

"How long have you been here?" Malik asks, ignoring my question.

"Um, since last night." I answer.

It's silent for awhile.

They look uneasy and speechless.

Do they know something I don't?

"Damn," Jalen mutters turning away and chugging down a bit of his apple juice.

Malik laughs a bit. "She bogus as hell, running off with them like that."

"Her ass tryin' get that dick and shit." Kash jokes and all the boys except for Daniel chuckle a bit.

I don't get the joke.

Ok, they most definitely know something I don't.

"Y'all shut up!" Demi snaps.

"She get that shit from you. Influencing that player ass stuff on her." Victoria says with disgust and nudges Kash in the elbow, he looks at her annoyed and in pain.

"Man, fuck off here with that. I didn't influence shit on her. Hailey does what she want. Just so happen she wanna fuck with Graham today." Kash replies fixing his shirt

"Whatever," Victoria rolls her eyes.

Silence again.

"Cassie, she most likely out with Graham and her brothers. She'll be back later tonight." Yara calls to me.

I furrow my brows. "So, she just left me here?"

"Duh." Jalen says.

"Shut yo ass up, before she smack the shit outta you!" Yara tells him with a glare.

"I most definitely will." I tell him.

If Summer can get it, he can too. The fine ass accent can't save him all the time.

"Ight, don't spazz on me. I'm cool." He throws his arms up in surrender.

"We going to the mall today. You don't gotta wait on her ass, you can just come with us." Rosie offers. "Ooh, yeah it'll be real fun." Yara agrees.

"Yeah, that sounds nice." I say with a smile.

Demi pulls me along to the table full of breakfast food. Vegan waffles, Pancakes, Eggs, Fruit bowls, Muffins, and all type of stuff. Rosie says that Hailey ate before she left and since Eric or Andre wasn't here we could just have the rest. By the time we all got down eating the food was gone, and it was two in the afternoon.

"Can you walk Dexter, Danny?" Victoria asked looking up from her phone seeing Dexter pace around.

"Yeah, look like his ass gotta shit."

"I got you, bae." Daniel mumbled placing a kiss on Victoria's cheek before going to find a collar.

I did not know they were together.

Daniel had went out to walk Dexter before we left.

I felt something in my shirt and moved around for a little bit. It was like a stick or something.

Was it that?

I adjusted my shirt one more time and something fell out.

"Damn, Cassie. I didn't know you smoked."

"Smoked?" I asked confused.

There was a blunt on the ground.

This probably what Asia meant when she said she snuck something in my bag.

"You ain't gotta hide it. I like getting high too, let's go fire that shit up." Malik said grabbing a lighter from the kitchen table.

So Me, Malik, and Kash go outside and get high.

And I felt like I was walking on air.

It felt real familiar though.

We got back then we all made sure we had our money in order before we got in Yara's white Benz truck and rode to the mall. We talked a lot. Mostly about the type of the music we liked, then we talked about Yara's ex boyfriends, then we talked about food, and we all cracked a few jokes. Victoria didn't really say nothing, but they was cool as hell. No wonder Hailey was friends with them.

When we got there we would just split up in groups. The boys wanted to look for jewelry and go look at shoes, but all the girls wanted to get clothes. Malik told us we was too girly for them, and if Hailey was here that she'd come shoe shopping too. Yara said something mean to him and they started play fighting. We eventually went to go shop and we mostly went to get dresses and heels.

Yara had the most bags and that irritated Rosie because we would have to carry them too.

"Rosie, just hold the fuckin' bag!" Demi growled trying to force the gucci bag in the darkly dressed girl's arms.

"That bag heavy as hell. I ain't holding shit." Rosie replied shoving Demi away from her

"Ew, you so annoying." Demi rolled her eyes.

I went on Instagram as Demi and Rosie started arguing as we went to the next store. A picture Hailey posted came up.

"You okay?" Victoria asked.

"Oh, um, yeah I'm fine." I shrug putting my phone in my pocket.

Hailey is not going to ruin my good day or my high.

Pretty soon we were in Akira.

"Ooh, this would look so good on you!" Demi squealed holding out this creme colored dress. It was pretty. "You're trying this on, right now." She smiled and pushed the dress into my arms.

I ended up buying it.

Demi was right, it looked really good on me.

We went to Forever 21, H&M, DTLR, Foot Locker, Victoria's Secret, and Bath & Body Works. Rosie was trying to go Hot Topic but Yara didn't really want to because the goth people scared her. So I just walked with Rosie there. We ended up stopping by Spencer's, and Zumiez on the way there.

"Aren't you wearing one of these?" I asked holding up a three pack of green Playboy Bunny rings. Rosie showed me her hand and the ring was proudly there on her wedding finger.

"Mhm, It's a friendship ring Hailey bought me a year ago." She said picking out a black choker.

My phone dinged.

"The boys want to know what we want to eat?" I asked showing her the message.

"Don't respond, I like pissing them off." She laughs and grabs a naked anime doll. I raise an eyebrow at her. "It's a gift for Hail, I am not weird like that. I promise." She defends herself quickly.

I chuckle and we head to the cashier to check out the stuff.

Eventually we're all back at home with a ton of bags trying to figure out we're gonna order.

"How about Thai food?" Kash asks handing me a Thai food takeout menu.

"Never had it," I reply looking it over.

"Let's not get that." Daniel says.

"Yeah, that stuff make my stomach hurt." Yara adds.

"What about hot dogs from 7/11?" Malik suggest for the millionth time tonight.

"Stop with that 7/11 hot dog mess!" Rosie growls angrily at him.

"Let's just get Sushi."

"Ooh, that sound good. From Nikolai's place." Malik smiles excitedly.

"Fasho, imma call it in." Demi nods grabbing her phone.

"Make sure to get something vegan for Fantasia, and Hailey." Daniel says and Demi nods.

It takes twenty minutes for the food right. We all chipped in and bought a huge platter.

I ain't gonna lie I was real off about trying this.

Because who out here eating uncooked fish?

But it was really good.

Like really good.

My favorite was the spicy tuna roll.

The spicy crunch roll.

The lemon roll.

And the Alaskan roll.

But everything was really good.

I'd definitely try it again.

We were in the middle of My Neighbor Torto when Hailey had came threw the door, holding onto the leases of two dogs.

Oh, here the other two go.

Were we they all that time?

"Wassup?" Hailey asked as everyone looked at her.

"Nothing much. You hungry?" Malik asked and Hailey shrugged.

"Something like that." She took the leases off the dogs and that ran down the basement stairs to go play, while Dexter ran up to her and started attacking her with wet kisses to the face. "Aw, you miss me? I missed you too. I was deadass thinking bout you all day." Hailey laughs. She sits her backpack down and starts to play with Dexter.

He gets tired after awhile and lies down on the floor. Hailey comes over and takes the tray of vegan Sushi we ordered for her.

"You owe me for taking Dex out." Daniel mumbles taking a sip of water.

"Bet," Hailey asked taking a bite of one of her rolls, her eyes not leaving the television.

I'm sitting right beside her and she hasn't said a word to me.

What's wrong with her?

The movie eventually comes to an end and Rosie hands the remote to Jalen, and he ends up choosing Ponyo.

I haven't seen Ponyo in years.

It's a real good movie.

We're at the part where the Dad is telling Ponyo bad shit about the humans and I feel Hailey's hand snake across my waist.

She need to not even try it...

"Stop," I tell her softly so no one hears.

I doubt they can though, they really into the movie.

"I just want you to sit closer to me." She says and now I'm on her lap.

"You do too much.' I say in a whisper as she goes back to watching the movie.

I can't even focus on anything.

I'm only focusing on her.

On her literally leaving me when she the one who told me to come out here.

And the fact that she left and didn't give me a heads up that she was leaving.

Like, the audacity.

She's irritating.

A total jerk.

Hold on...

I'm never thinking 'Jerk' again, these white people starting to get to me.

I get so lost in my thoughts I didn't even swallow correctly, so now I'm sitting up here choking.

Shit...

"Yo, you ight?" Hailey asks in a worried tone looking at me.

My coughing increases and everyone turns to look at me. "Imma get you some water," Daniel says getting up quickly.

I try to get words out but nothing is coming out.

This can not be happening...

I stand up quickly and accidentally trip over something, my coughing stops and I stop choking as well.

It's silent...

"W-what are you guys lookin' at?" I ask seeing all of their eyes wide looking at the ground, specifically where I'm laid out at.

I furrow my eyebrows and look over everything, then my eyes widen.

Handguns, bags of weed, pills, stacks of money, random id cards...

And all of it came from Hailey's backpack.
