⊱ ─Championship: Ducks VS Hawks─ ⊰

To say that Daisy was nervous was an understatement, she was freaking out as she paced her bedroom. She couldn't believe that she managed to get some decent sleep the night before but she was still incredibly worried about facing the Hawks. Her mother had managed to get time off to see the game which made Daisy happy yet more anxious about losing. She looked over at her Duck themed duffel bag and took a deep breath before closing her eyes and calming her aching mind. She knew after the game she'd have to tell the team that she was moving away and it hurt her to leave the people she's grown up with.

She grabbed her bag and threw it over her shoulder before heading out the door, climbing into her mother's car. Daisy got ready quietly, everyone had picked up on her quiet and distant behavior but they didn't really know what to do considering the last time she was like this, her father was ill and eventually he passed away. Charlie and Adam looked at each other before looking at Daisy, over the past few weeks, the three had gotten closer and they hoped she'd tell them what was wrong. Jesse and Averman made jokes to cheer the blonde girl up and they were successful, she giggled at the two of them and like that, her bubbly side had appeared which lit up the room straight away.

Both teams stood in two lines across from each other for the National Anthem, the kids all glared and taunted each other trying to psych one another out. The moment the National Anthem finished, the crowd cheered. "Ducks, let's fire it up! Come on, let's get fired up!" Coach Bombay yelled as they huddled together. "Quack! Quack! Quack! Quack!" The Ducks all chanted together with the crowd as they put their hands in. "Go Ducks!" They cheered as they lifted their hands. The team split to take their positions when Jesse stopped Banks, "Hey Banks! Don't forget what side you're on." Adam put on his helmet and skated away.

Daisy shook her head at Jesse, "Jess, he's a Duck, and he's going to play like a Duck." She followed Adam onto the ice and took a deep breath to calm her nerves. Adam took the face-off against McGill who was glaring at him. Adam fought for the puck but was shoved to the ground by McGill and Larson. Daisy skated after the puck only to be shoved to the ground, the Hawks were playing hard tonight and Daisy was really worried that someone was gonna get badly hurt because of it. The Ducks fought hard against the Hawks for the puck, it was being passed between both teams every few seconds as they pushed and shoved each other.

"Banks! Two comin' hard!" Charlie yelled out to Adam who passed the puck before being knocked down again. Larson got the puck and shot it in scoring a point, leaving the Ducks down by one point. Guy got the puck and was skating down the middle hard but was knocked down by a Hawks player. McGill got the puck and scored another point for the Hawks, now it was 2-0. McGill skated past Daisy with a smirk as he subtly dragged his thumb across his neck before laughing and skating away, she took a deep breath before skating to her position.

Daisy was shoved down again as one of the Hawks players went to shoot only for his shot to be saved by Goldberg. Daisy slowly got up and smiled at Goldberg as Coach Bombay praised the goalie. The Hawks got the puck again, shot it and got another point putting them 3 to nil. The team huddled up around Coach Bombay, "Don't be scared of them, Ducks. It's what they want! Keep your heads up, play proud. Let's fly! Come one, let's go!" Daisy looked up at the crowd spotting her mother sitting with Mr Hall and Charlie's mom. Daisy smiled at her mother when she waved before turning to look at the team, she was beginning to worry. They needed this win because when they found out about her moving it, it was gonna be a loss... She needed the win.

It was the second period and the Hawks started with a three-point lead. Adam took the face-off and passed the puck back to Daisy, they skated down the ice before Daisy passed the puck back to Adam. He went straight for the goal until McGill knocked Adam down from behind, though the puck still went into the goal. Everyone cheered as Daisy noticed that Banks was still down, she rushed over and knelt down next to him. The medics came over and put him onto a gurney as Jesse skated over. "Did it go in?" Banks asks Jesse specifically. "Yeah, man," Jesse answers softly as Daisy smiled sadly at the two.

Adam let out a breath of relief, "Jesse. Do me a favour, kick some Hawk butt." Jesse smiled as everyone laughed, "Alright, cake-eater." The paramedics wheeled Banks away as Daisy hugged Jesse, "Let's do this!" The two fist-bumped before they skated past the Hawks, glaring at McGill. The Ducks huddled around the bench with Coach Bombay. "Let me go after 'em, Coach. Let me get 'em," Fulton said to Coach Bombay. "No, we're better than that," Bombay tells them, Daisy nodded in agreement with their Coach.

Bombay looked around at his team, "Look, it's time to play smart hockey - Duck hockey, alright? Now, we got the power play. We'll hit 'em where it hurts the most, we hit 'em up there." He pointed to the scoreboard making every agree with him. "Fulton, you're in," Bombay ordered. "Coach, they'll be rushin' him," Averman reminded him. "Right, Jesse and Daisy, make sure you give Fulton plenty of time," Bombay tells the two who nodded at each other with smirks. The team cheered together before Coach stopped them, "Hold it! Wait! Let's have fun out there!"

Daisy took the face-off and won the puck, passing it to Fulton as Jesse knocks down two Hawks players which cleared the front of the goal. Fulton took his shot and scored leaving the Ducks down by one point. Daisy high-fived Fulton before they got back into their positions. The Hawks got the puck again and scored, now the score was 4-2 and Daisy was ready to get some points in. "Guys, listen up!" Coach Bombay started, "We have got to stay fired up and focused, alright! It ain't over 'till it's over! Tammy, Tommy, let's show these Hawks something really different. Come here."

The Ducks passed the puck around in front of the Hawks' goal as Tammy began spinning distracting the Hawks. While they were watching her spin, Tommy got the puck and passed it to Tammy who hit it into the goal, scoring them another point. 4-3. While Tammy was skating to the bench, McGill tripped her making her fall to the ground. Fulton was unimpressed, he skated over to McGill and tossed him over the boards resulting in the referee pulling him out of the game completely. Daisy fist-bumped Fulton as he skated past her before she skated up to the bench after Bombay called for Oreo Line for them to do The Flying V.

Daisy smiled at Jesse as she passed him the puck before he skated behind the net, the team came together and formed a V, skating down the middle into Hawk territory passing the puck to one another. Terry passed the puck back to Jesse who charges the net and scores, both teams were tied now. There were twenty-three seconds left in the game and the next point wins. A Hawks player shoots it in only for Goldberg to save it just in time. "Big save, Goldberg! We'll get 'em in overtime!" Bombay hollered from the bench.

Averman got the puck and passed it to Charlie who breaks away down the centre ice. Daisy watched him closely after she knocked two players down. He was almost there when a Hawk player used his stick to knock Charlie down. "Hey! Where's the call?!" Bombay yelled at the ref as Daisy helped Charlie up. "Coach, penalty shot. Anyone on the ice can take it," The ref says to Bombay before skating away. "Alright Ducks, who should take it?" Bombay asks the team. "I think Guy should take it," Connie says getting some agreements from the team.

Guy shook his head, "Me? I think Daisy should do it." Daisy smiled at Guy as the team agreed, Bombay looked at her but she knew who needed to do it. "Charlie should do it. Finish what he started," Daisy says to Bombay who smiled, both of them turned to look at Charlie. "Daisy, no! We have a chance to win," Charlie says looking at her but she wouldn't budge. "Damn straight we do," Bombay says, "You've been practicing that triple deke?" Charlie nods. "Then you're all set. You may make it, you may not. But that doesn't matter Charlie, what matters is that we are here." Daisy nodded in agreement.

Charlie looked around at the team, they all smiled at him as he took a deep breath. "Charlie?" Daisy spoke, he turned to her before she kissed his cheek, "You got this, Conway." He blushed lightly with a smile before skating off as the team chanted his name. Charlie circles around the puck a few times before he goes for the shot. He goes to the right, left then back to the right before hitting the shot straight into the net. The Ducks did it, they had won the championships. The team rushed out onto the ice instantly surrounding Charlie as they cheered for him. Guy and Connie began macking which made Daisy skate away from the two of them.

Daisy skated over to Charlie once he pulled away from Jesse and Goldberg. "Congratulations Charlie! You won us the championship," Daisy tells him with her sweet bubbly smile. Charlie locked eyes with Bombay who motioned towards Daisy, the blonde girl looked back at their Coach who quickly looked away like he wasn't looking at them. She laughed lightly before turning back to Charlie only for him to swiftly kiss her leaving her momentarily stunned before she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and kissed him.

The team whistled and cheered as the two continued kissing until they hesitantly pulled away from each other with large smiles on their faces. The Ducks celebrated well into the night with snacks, sodas and movies with Coach Bombay at Banks' house, they felt as though they were on top of the world and for a moment, Daisy forgot this would be one of the last times she got to hang out with them. Especially, being in Charlie Conway's arms where she fell asleep feeling at complete peace.
