( 𝟎𝟏𝟖 ) a natural at shooting

— THE WHOLE GROUP WERE RELIEVED WHEN they all found out that Daryl had just been grazed, and the fact that he was going to be okay, let everyone breathe. They didn't know what they would do if they lost another member of their group - a lot has happened since Atlanta and the CDC, and the group were just hanging on by a thread at this point. Andrea felt awful about shooting the man, and she was doing everything she can to make Daryl more comfy in his time of bed rest.
Zoe felt bad for Daryl, she knew what it was like to be stuck in bed and not allowed to move, so she feels his pain. Ever since Nate found out about Daryl, he had been adamant on searching for Sophia with as much energy as he could; the fact that his brother almost died for the little girl, made him want to carry on and find her. She hadn't seen much of him since Daryl was shot, and she understood that, he was looking after his brother, but she missed him.

Zoe was currently washing everyone's clothes by the camp, when she saw Glenn walk by. "Wassup?" She asked, causing him to stop and look at her with wide eyes, like he was afraid of something. She looked at him with suspicion as she saw this look, not knowing why he was acting so strange.

"Nothing's up." He spoke quickly. "Nothing at all." He said again, giving her a tight smile that didn't fool her at all.

Zoe stood up and placed her hand on her hip, "Are you okay? You seem a bit off." She told him. It seemed to her, that as soon as he came back from his trip to town with Maggie, he had been acting weird, and Zoe wanted to find out what was wrong with him.

"I'm not off." Glenn defended, unable to meet her eyes with his own; he knew that he was being suspicious, but he couldn't help it, he was terrible at lying. He looked behind them to see Rick, Shane, Nate and T-Dog gathered around the truck, and he sighed in relief that he could get away from Zoe so he wouldn't have to lie to her anymore, "I gotta go, see 'ya." He said, before practically jogging away.

Zoe watched him leave with a weird look, not knowing why he was acting so strange towards her. When she watched him approach the men at the truck, he looked back at Lori with an expression that Zoe didn't recognise. Looking over at her mom, she saw her face fall, as if she was silently telling Glenn to keep his mouth shut. Zoe didn't know what the hell was going on today, but she was too tired for any of this. Who would have thought that this much drama would happen during an outbreak?
She shook her head, sighing - all that she could think of right now, was if her dad would let her go shooting today with the others; she needed to learn, and if he didn't, she would probably be in more danger than she is now. Zoe thought it was reasonable that she wanted to learn how to shoot, after all, she needed to be able to if she wanted to survive, she thought that everyone should know how to shoot.

"You goin' shooting today?" Lori asked her daughter, walking up to help her with the washing. Lori didn't exactly want Zoe going to shoot with the rest of the group; to her, she was still her little girl, and seeing her with a gun just didn't feel right.. But, Zoe needed to keep herself safe, and she guessed that it was something that was bound to happen.

"I want to." Zoe replied, looking up at her mom, "I don't know if dad'll let me, though." She said. She knew that her parents wanted to keep her safe, but she needed to be able to do that herself, learning to shoot is the best way to do that.

"I mean, I don't exactly want you handling a gun.." Lori began, as Zoe looked at her sadly, "But, I'll talk to your dad for you." She said. Zoe's eyes widened at her moms words, not expecting her to be letting her go shooting, instantly she pulled her mom in for a hug, which she returned.

"Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!" She cheered, giving her mom the brightest smile she had ever seen. Lori smiled at the sight, not regretting one bit, letting her daughter go shooting - it was a different story with Carl, he was too young, and she didn't want to introduce him to this life as of yet.

It was then, did Rick wonder over, wondering if he had gotten the go-ahead for shooting. It turns out, he had been wanting Zoe to learn how to defend herself since she had gotten shot, he just had to get his wife's permission first. "Is she comin'?" He asked Lori, wandering up to his two girls. Lori nodded in response, and Zoe smiled even wider, looking back at her dad expectantly, "Just.. Make sure she's safe." She asked her husband, as she watched her daughter walk up to him.

Rick nodded, "Always." He answered. He would make sure that he kept his eyes on her at all times, he would never let anything happen to her again. "You ready, kid?" He asked his daughter, placing his hand on her shoulder.

Zoe nodded eagerly, before giving her mom one last hug, and making her way towards the car, where Shane was packing the essentials for the shooting lessons. Rick and Lori watched her go, and Lori couldn't hold back the large sigh from her mouth, "She's growing up too fast." She told Rick, wrapping her arms around herself.

Rick nodded at her words, but he knew that it was bound to happen sometime, he just wished he would have had more time to prepare for his little girl growing up. "She is." He agreed, watching as she climbed into the car.

"C'mon Rick!" Shane called, closing the boot.

Rick turned to Lori and kissed her forehead gently, "We won't be long." He told her, before following the group, leaving his wife alone..

Zoe was a natural at shooting, and she was quite surprised, as she had never even held a gun in her life. Ever since the walkers started invading the world, she had stuck with knives and axe's, but now, maybe she would even be allowed to carry a gun. After shooting all of her bottles with one clip, she looked back at her father, to see that he was already watching her proudly, knowing that she had obviously taken after him in the shooting range. Maybe if the world hadn't ended, she could have even trained to be a cop.
She couldn't hold back the small giggle as she looked over at Beth's boyfriend, watching as he held the gun like a gangster, however, as he held the gun properly, he shot the bottle, first try, almost as if he had used a gun before. It was Andrea's try to use one of the heavy guns, and again, first try, she shot the paint can down with a smirk, causing Zoe to smile at the woman - maybe the group wasn't as useless as everyone thought they were.

When Shane motioned to the gun in Zoe's direction, indicating that she could try the gun, she smiled that he thought that big of her, but she just knew that she wouldn't even be able to hold it. "You really think I'd be able to even hold that?" She asked him, chuckling at the man.

"Why don't you give it a try?" He asked her, holding the gun out to her.

Zoe shrugged, taking the gun into her own hands, noticing the huge difference between this one, and the one she was just using. "This is heavy." She complained, looking up at Shane with a look. He simply replied by laughing at her attempt to hold the gun, and took it back into his own hands, before handing her a smaller gun.

"How about you keep this one." He suggested, as Zoe looked at him wide-eyed. She couldn't believe that he would let her have a gun, especially after firing it once.

"Are you sure?" She asked him, making sure that she wasn't hearing things.

Shane nodded, "You seem to know your way around a gun, I'm pretty sure you got that from your dad." He told her, messing up her hair by ruffling it. Zoe playfully pushed Shane away, before giving him a thankful look, to which he smiled back at, giving her a pat on the back, "You're a natural, Zo." He said, before walking away to check on Andrea. Smiling once more, she got back to shooting the targets with no problem..

The second that Zoe got back to camp, she instantly made her way towards Nate's tent, and found him sitting on a plank of wood, eating some meat. He obvious hadn't come shooting, as he already knew how, so, Zoe had gone alone. As Nate heard Zoe come walking up to him, his scowl turned into a smile in an instant, noticing that the girl he liked was extremely happy.
"Shane said I'm a natural." She told him, taking a seat besides Nate on the small bench.

Nate laughed, "That doesn't surprise me." He told her, putting his plate of food down on the floor. Ever since he had known Zoe, she had been a complete badass, and he had nothing but respect for her. Hell, she had managed to pull through being shot, and having the bullet shatter inside of her stomach. If that didn't make her a badass, he didn't know what would.

Zoe looked up at him with a wide smile, "Really?" She asked. She didn't think that she would be good at anything to do with defence and shooting, of all things, but today proved her wrong, and Shane even gave her a gun for it. Remembering her gun, she pulled it out of her belt and held it up to show Nate, "Shane even gave me a gun, but I'm not allowed to use it around the farm." She told him.

Zoe knew about the pact they had made with Hershel and how they weren't allowed guns around the farm, so she had to make sure she kept it hidden at all times. She had this idea that she could take Carl out one day and show him how to shoot, as she knew he had been desperate to come shooting today, but her mom wouldn't allow him. Zoe knew that he was still young, but age didn't matter in this world, not anymore - you had to know how to defend yourself, and if you didn't, then you were vulnerable. She didn't want her younger brother to be vulnerable, so she wanted to change how he kept himself safe.

With the small talks that Rick and Hershel had been having, that Zoe had been watching from the sidelines, she didn't think they'd be at the farm much longer, so, she wanted to know how to defend herself before moving. She wanted the same for Carl, and would fight with her mom for the choice to have him taught. You can't have everything, right?
Nate had to hide his distaste when he heard that mans name - he and Daryl had seen right through him when he came back from getting medicine with Otis. Shane killed the man in cold blood, and the Dixon's knew that.. They didn't know if anyone else knew, but they did.

"That's great, Zoe." He said in the end, not wanting to ruin her spirit after the great shooting session she had. In reply, he simply gave her his food, and she gracefully accepted, smiling up at him.

The next few hours, the two sat, enjoying each other's company, while watching the sunset.
