Chapter 15: Cleared

Hello readers. I just wanted to let you know that several of the chapters I've been working on have incorrect grammar. XD . Please bear with me as I correct my grammar. (╥﹏╥)

Oh, and I'd like to remind you that the update will be slow. I'm a little preoccupied with my schoolwork. .·'¯'(>▂<)'¯'·.

As soon as I finished my pancakes, I placed my utensils down.

"Dad...Brother," I called out to my father and brother as they looked at me, who had finished eating as well. Now that we're on good terms, I can finally tell them about Riku being my knight.

"It's about Riku," I explained.

"Riku? You mean that guy you brought?" Brother asked his face was serious, as well as father who was waiting for me to speak.

"Yeah, I was thinking if he could stay here and be my personal knight," I explained as I ate some pudding, a sweet dessert served by the maids. My brother was surprised, as well of the several servants who were aware of Riku's presence in the palace. My father, on the other hand, was simply relaxing and sipping his coffee, which was also given by the servants.

"Hiroka, thats-" I knew my brother was about to object, but he was stopped off by my father, which surprised me at first but quickly made me glad about his response. My brother, on the other hand, was shocked.

"Sure, that'd be great."

"Father?!" Brother, startled.

"Calm down, Haru, there's no need to be surprised; I was intending on having that boy be Hiroka's knight anyway; I want him to protect Hiroka and accompany him wherever he goes, even at school," Father said, and I and even my brother were taken aback by what he said.

Alfred, the butler, must have informed my father and brother about my attending school. I thought dad was objecting to the idea and that I was going to persuade him, but it appears that father and brother agreed that I was going to school.

"Y-you mean the kid who will accompany Hiroka to school, was him?!" Brother was perplexed and surprised. Alfred, who was a bit further away from the dining table, heard us and was surprised as well. On the other hand, Allea; who was sitting on the row behind me, seemed shocked as well.

My brother and I heard my father hum in answer, which meant he had already determined Riku would be my personal knight the entire time.

'It appears that I have already cleared this one.'

"B-but, father, why him?" asked Brother. When father had finished drinking all of the coffee in his cup, he set it down and stated. "He's interesting, other kids his age will be terrified of me at first glimpse, but he's different...Haru, you also think he's interesting, right?" Father asked, seriously glancing at brother. When brother heard father's statement, he was taken aback and stayed silent till he nodded.

"That boy is skilled, I can tell. He will be of service to Hiroka in the future," Father added, and my brother and I shrugged until Father rose in his seat and stated.

"Haru, from here on, you'll be that boy's instructor. I want you to improve his skills since you're highly talented in magic and swordsman, and of course, the captain of the Callisto knights." My brother and I were surprised, but that surprise quickly faded. I had no idea that brother was the Callisto knight's captain. Brother made no mention of it in the original Hiroka, and it was also not mentioned in the novel.

"Well, can't be avoided, then leave that boy to me; after all, it's for Hiroka's sake," he smirked. I flinched when I saw his response. I can tell he's up to something bad. It made me feel bad for Riku just thinking about it. After all, we still don't know much about Riku, and he remains suspicious of them. They don't trust Riku right now, but I'm sure they will in the future.

I noticed my father sigh and say, "Haru, go easy on that boy."

I saw my brother flinch, but it disappeared quickly. His face just smiled, and his response made me sweat drop.

"I'll be leaving first since I still have a lot of work to do," Father stated as he walked towards the exit door. Alfred was also there and opened the door for Father to go. Alfred followed Father out of the dining room and shut the door behind him.

"Then I should also leave Hiro, I still have the training to complete," my brother replied as he rose up, but then he suddenly froze

'Hmmm, Hiro?'  I looked at my brother, confused. When my brother observed my response, he flushed and turned away.

"Pretend you didn't hear that, it was a slip of the tongue," my brother said, embarrassed. With this reaction, he appears cute, yet I don't mind being called Hiro.

"Brother, I don't mind"

"Really?" he said, poppy-like, and it made me want to sweat drop. When I nodded at him, he immediately smiled.

"For years, I always wanted to call you that, but it was a little embarrassing for me," he replied, rubbing the back of his head with a flushed face.

"Well, then, I should leave," he continued as he exited the dining room happily. As I saw my brother finally leave the dining room, I looked down at my unfinished pudding dessert. I was so engrossed in the conversation that I forgot I still had some sweets on my plate. I grab my fork and resume eating my dessert.

_____

Three hours passed, Riku's POV

I'm currently in the palace guest room. Three hours before, I had finished eating when the maids brought me food. The meal was great. I haven't had that type of meal in a long time. Since I had been living in a slum for so long without food or even a shelter to protect myself from the rain; my body was still so slim with a lack of nutrients and food. But then I met this prince, and he brought me here to say thank you. I'm confident I won't be here for long. I'll return to that alley and live as a poor boy once more. So far, all they've done is give me a bath, clothing, and even food. What they gave to me made me glad.

'How long will I remain here waiting for them to tell me to leave?'

I'm sitting on a bed, gazing out the window at the lovely garden. The garden is just wonderful, no matter how I look at it. I was so focused on staring out the window when I heard a knock on the door. The door opened to see a maid bringing clothes. If I recall properly, the maid that came in was the prince's maid, whose name was Allea.

"Sir Riku, the highness requested that I give this to you and wear this," she said as he handed me the clothes. I couldn't figure out why.

"Oh, and here is a thank you gift as well." she continued as she gave me a pouch. I took the pouch she was holding and opened it; inside were gold coins. With this many, I could purchase a house.

"Then please excuse me, sir Riku; take your time dressing," I heard her say as she smiled, "When you're finished, call me outside, and we'll leave the palace." she continued as she exited the room.

'It appears that I will be finally going back.'
