AJ's rescued from her abusive mother late one night. She's taken to live with other children who've been through similar things, and she thinks everything will be better. She meets Grey, who's shut everyone else out to stop herself hurting, and is convinced that she can get through to her. AJ falls in love with Jane, her rescuer, and everything seems perfect. Grey tries to warn AJ that Jane's deceiving her, which causes a massive argument. They don't talk for weeks; AJ refuses to believe what Grey says. She then discovers that Jane is cheating on her, and she still cries herself to sleep at night although she's been away from her mother for months now. AJ and Grey make up, and as time progresses it is revealed that Grey's true identity is Bethany Black. The girl who deserted AJ years ago. They grow closer and eventually fall in love, although AJ's pain is still there. She hides it, convincing herself it will go away, but it never does. Eventually, it becomes too much for her to bear.
