"MA!" Riley said running out of the elevator. Cory quickly caught up to her.

"MA!"

"TOPANGA!" I said as Cory glared at me. I know I have nothing to do with this but it's fun to push Cory's buttons.

"Whatever this is, do not put me in between the three people I love equally. Just kidding come here, girls". Topanga said opening up her arms in anticipation of a hug. We walked up to her and gave her a big squeeze.

"My teacher followed me and Jean home. Can we keep him, can we keep him? Please say no"! I laughed at Riley's outburst. It was funny to see her upset. That may sound mean, but I'm also the type of person to laugh at kids laughing. I think that says a lot about my personality.

"She walked out of my class. She's trying to be Jean-Louise". Cory said while glaring at me. I stuck out my tongue in return to his shocked face.

"Why would you wanna be Jean-Louise? No offense honey". Topanga said to me

"None took", I said making my way to the couch and sitting down.

"She's cool. She has a wild side. She does what she wants". Riley said pacing around the living room.

"Thanks, Riles it's good to know I'm appreciated". I said getting a glare from my God-parents.

"But you're such a good person..." Topanga started but Riley cut her off.

"Who cares about that." Riley stopped her mid-sentence. "Do you really think I'm one of those girls who will never get into trouble and follows all the rules"? She said in disbelief.

"I was hoping," Cory said smiling like a doofus

"Do you think I'm well-raised"? Riley asked

"Half," I said.

"Really Jean thank you". Cory said thankfully. I laughed.

"Oh, I wasn't talking about you, Matthews. I was talking about the half Topanga raised". I said sending a smirk his way.

"How is it that you don't know me at all"? The Matthews watched their eldest walk to her room pouting. Cory then turned to me.

"You"! He shouted in frustration.

"How ya doing". I said getting a look from my uncle.

"Let's get married. Let's have a kid. Let's have another kid. Let's take in that she-devil over there". Cory said pointing at me. He looked like he was about to pop a casket. Yet Topanga stepped in.

"No offense".

"Again none took". "Hey look Uncle Cor I'm sorry I influenced your bird ok. I'm gonna head up to my room". I said making my way up the stairs to my room.

There is a reason I live with my Godparents in New York. My mom had me then take off. She left my two brothers to raise me. To be honest no one had known where my mother had been for a couple of years. They only found out when they got a call from the hospital saying my mother had left me there without notice. From the moment I was born, I was unwanted and alone.

Thankfully my brothers weren't as alone as they thought. They had the elderly Matthews, Mr. Feeny, Mr. Turner, and their best friends. I don't really see my brothers as much as I would like to. I see them through facetime but it isn't the same. My oldest brother Jack I only see him once or twice a year cause of his job. My other brother Shawn travels a lot for work so he and Jack figured it wasn't great for me to be moving all my life. We used to all live together in Philly together. But Jack got a new job. He didn't want to but Shawn told him it was best for Jack's career. So Shawn and I lived in the trailer park. I was fine living there, to be honest. I don't care where I live as long as I was with my family. It was pretty cozy. It was me and Shawn for a while, but then his boss wanted him to start taking pictures in other places. So Shawnie talked with my Godparents and now I live here part-time I guess.

I wasn't gonna do my homework because I founded the homework rebellion. What example would that show? But I decided I would do it, but for myself. It wasn't gonna be three pages. It was just gonna be what I felt. And anytime I felt discouraged I could look at the paper. I decided I would write about my brothers.

After I wrote my paper I decided I was just gonna go to sleep. I had an idea for class tomorrow. What could go wrong?

"Aww, look at him looking for a place to fit in," Maya said talking about Lucas.

"Do you think he'll sit with us"? Riley asked. She totally had a crush on this kid.

"Ladies"

"Farkle. the three of us replied

"Interesting lunch line dilemma. Sloppy Joe, pizza, or chicken pot pie. Sloppy Joe, Pizza or chicken pot pie". Farkle said trying his attempt at flirting.

"Is that all you got". I asked him

"That's it. Same time tomorrow". He said as he walked away.

"There he is. Invite him to sit down". At this point, I kinda tuned Riley out. Sure Riley is like my sister. But I was thinking about the homework rebellion. Did I really wanna go through with my plans. I wasn't sure what to do. I zoned out until I realized Cory was dragging Lucas out of the cafeteria.

"So did you guys do the homework"? Riley asked.

"No, I didn't do the homework". I did do it but I lied. Like I said I did the homework for myself. So technically I didn't really do it.

"The question on everybody's kiwi lips is did you do the homework"? Maya asked our new "rebellious" best friend.

"I'm one of the founding members of the homework rebellion. Do you think I did my homework"?

I think you did ours too. I told Riley knowing she did

"I did, I did and I really liked it". Riley replied

"Riley doesn't save us". Maya told her

What?

"Let us be us". With that being said I just walked straight to class. I didn't really wanna stick around and listen to Farkle talk about cake. He had three different kinds. Now that kid can eat.

I noticed Riley talking to Lucas and slightly smiling. They looked cute. Maybe they could have an actual conversation if Cory would stop worrying about this daughter.

"Ok, today we're gonna find out if anybody here believes in something so much they'd fight for it". Matthews said starting to stare at me.

"Jean-Louise"

"Yea Matthews".

'present your homework'.

'Can't do that Matthews'.

'Why not?

'I didn't do my homework, Matthews'.

'And why not?

'That's what I'm fighting against Matthews.' And that did it. After those words left my mouth everything went downhill.

"Same here hambone". Maya replied having my back.

"Oh, this could go on for a while".

"Farkle,Farkle,Farkle,Farkle".

"I didn't do my homework either". Riley said lying.

"Oh really"? Her father asked being quite skeptical.

"Yea the three of us. We're exactly the same now. I don't believe in homework".

"Guess what Riley. That doesn't make you Jean-Louise or Maya at all".

Maya raised her hand for both of us and said: "We have something to say".

"Wow, I don't what to say. I've never seen this before".

"I say you give us a chance Matthews".

"The floor is yours Hunter, Hart".

"Get up Farkle your gonna wanna be awake for this". I said to him slapping his face mask.

"Is it our honeymoon"?

"No, you missed that. It's time to hand in our essays". I told him.

"Farkle goes first. Farkle always goes first".

"all right everybody who did their homework put it on their desks". May said grabbing Matthews's attention.

"Careful there Miss Hart".

"Are you sure about this"? Riley asked me.

"Yea I think so". I told her

"Ok". She replied

I then got on my desk and made one of the greatest mistakes I could've made. Maya passed me the papers and one of Farkles firecracker things. And I made a speech that at the time made me a better person In the eyes of my classmates. But I was wrong. I was just giving more proof of the stereotype I was placed in. The rebel from the wrong side of the tracks. That was not my best day.

"The burning of the homework led to the end of the homework Rebellion. Because there was no more homework". I said standing on my desk

"All right, Little Shawn, I think that's enough".

I then held up the sprinkler while Maya shouted "no homework more freedom" Big mistake. To say Cory was mad is an understatement.

Ok, so those work". I said

"Ms. Hunter, you have detention. The principal will decide if it goes further than there. Ms. Hart, you also have detention. Ms. Matthews, please leave".

"I deserve detention too".

"No Riles you don't ok. This is on me. You did nothing wrong ok". I told her making sure she knew it was my fault.

Farkle was on top of Matthews screaming his head off. It brought some light to this awful situation.

We were all in the hallway at this point soaking wet. To say I felt guilty was an understatement.

"You're looking at us pretty hard there Mr. Matthews". Maya said to Cory.

"I just wanna stand by my girls". Riley said to Matthews.

"You missed the moment to stand by your girls. You were so busy trying to be them, Riley, that you forgot the best thing you could do for them is be you. Riley, Maya take Farkle for a walk. Ms hart I'll speak to you later".

They weren't budging from where they were standing so I told them to leave myself.

"Go I'll be ok". With that being said they left and I was left with Cory.

"Listen for as long as I could remember it's always been Riley, Maya, and Jean-Louise. Now I always believed friends got each other out of trouble. Not into it".

"I'm sorry Cory".

"I am too. Because you go too far. You understand me". At that point, I just broke down in front of him. I had disappointed the closest thing to a father for me.

"Cory who am I"?" You said it yourself history shows that bad things happen when we don't know who we are"." Am I what everyone says I am"? "A rebellious 7th grader with a sob story of a past". "I just don know who I am". "I'm so sorry about this whole homework rebellion thing". "You probably think I didn't do my homework". "Well, I did. I did it for myself but here read it".

With that, I left the hall without waiting for an answer.

After Maya and I's delightful detention(hence the sarcasm.) Riley met us and we rode the subway home.

"Riles, Maya"? I asked them.

"Yea"

"Maya if you and I cant hang out as much don't worry about it. And Riles, if your dad sends me to California with jack, don't worry about it". I told them knowing Cory was pissed.

"wait..." Riley stopped to think

"Why"? Maya stopped doing the same thing

"He's gonna send me away. I'm not his real kid anyway. ". I said sadly

"He said that"? Maya asked dumbfoundedly.

"He's really upset with me".

"Jean your not to only one who's in trouble. I screwed up too".

"Yea but you don't go as far as me". I told her

"He loves you". Riley told me.

"I don't think so. I just want you guys to know this isn't your fault".

"beyooutiful". That woman Evelyn from a few days ago said." You three little bumblebees got a sweet thang going on". "But wheres your hunk"? We all gave her a weird look to which she replied.

"You ain't got no hunk you ain't got no story". I didn't know what was so compelling to this lady about our lives. So I ignored her and kept talking.

"I haven't been a good best friend to you guys". "I'm too wild and don't think before I act. I told them.

"You're our best friend". Maya replied.

"They're your best friends! Best friends are important. I got a best friend. I'm not talking to her right now". Evelyn said

"I go too far and I don't think that's gonna stop. I'm bad for you guys".

"Did he say that"? Riley asked.

"He's going too. Riles this is your stop and Maya you usually go with her. Guys don't be me".

"What do you mean Jean this your stop as well"? Maya asked.

"Yea but if Corys gonna ship me off to Cali I might as well get a head start. Go ahead you guys go home. Don't be me. You don't go as far as me". I then started to push them off the train.

"No"! Riley exclaimed

"No Jean"! Maya said as well.

"Do not push them off this train. You do not push your best friends off the train". I put my head down at this point. I screwed up the best friendship I ever had.

"Oh, their back. Those little girls pushed those doors open with the power of love". Evelyn said and I lifted my head back up.

"You're not allowed to abandon our friendship". Maya said to me.

"I would never do that. Guys, I'm pushing you away because I'm not good for you guys".

"Only we decide that," Riley said

"You know why"? Maya asked me

"Because this is my world now and the first people I want in it are you too". Riley said making me smile.

"You guys are gonna save me arent you"?

"We are".they both replied

We started walking to the house and Maya and Riley barge into the door.

"Where is he"? The girls shouted and Topanga and Auggie pointed to Matthews. I kinda snuck my way in behind the girls. Not trying to let Cory notice me. I knew he was upset with me. I think this was the first time I was scared to face someone. I wasn't scared just worried about Cory's reaction. Cause I kinda left him hanging in the school.

"There is no way we're gonna let you break up our friendship with Jean-Louise and send her to California with Uncle Jack"! Riley yelled at him

"You really think that's what I want girls". Cory said tilting his head slightly to try to see me.

"No, you said you want me to make the world my own. And you want me to do my homework. Well, I'm doing it right now. Here's what I think is worth fighting for. This is my cousin and one of my best friends. She's gonna get us into trouble. And I'm gonna get us out of it. And I did because here we are. My civil war is over dad. I won. What happens now"?

"Friends, Family... and all you other subterminal mole people" (if I spelled that wrong. Don't come for me)..." were here to celebrate Riley being Riley. Now some may consider this a New York City subway pass. But you Riley can consider it a ticket to the world".

"You think I'm ready," Riley asked them.

'"You showed us you are". Topanga told her daughter

"Riley I already met the world. It's your turn".

I noticed Lucas and Farkle talking. I notice Luccas looked shocked at whatever Farkle said. He probably saw how big the rats are.

"So where do you wanna go"? I asked

"Don't know the big world. Ours know"? Maya asked

"Yeah, but my dad did say I have to be back by 5". Riley said and I chuckled.

"Don't worry". I said pulling out a note. "He wrote you a note". With that, we left to discover the world.

"You guys came and waited for us". Riley asked her parents

"Hey, we told you we were always gonna be there for you".

"yeah, Riley, it isn't so easy handing over the world without making sure everything ok," Cory told her.

With that being said Maya went home and we headed back to the apartment. I went to my room and sat on my bed and noticed my essay. It has an A+ and a note attached to it.

"I'm here if you ever wanna talk-Cory"

Maybe I'm not so bad off after all.
