Chapter 14

Norrigton, Jack, four men, and I all approach the cave on a small boat. Norrington sits at the front, using his spyglass to observe the Pearl, Jack sits behind him, and I sit at the back. Both Jack and I have a man on either side of us.
"I don't care for the situation," Norrington speaks up, "Any attempt to storm the caves could turn into an ambush."
"Not if you're the one doing the ambushing," Jack says, leaning forward to talk to the commodore, "I go in and convince Barbossa to send his men out with their little boats. You and your mates return to the Dauntless and blast the bejesus out of them with your little cannons. What do you have to lose?" he asks.
"Nothing I'd lament being rid of," Norrington says, pushes Jack's hand off of him with his gun.
"Now, to be quite honest with you, there's still a slight risk to those aboard the Dauntless which includes the future Mrs. Commodore and the lovely lady Y/N," Jack says, looking at me then back to Norrington.
"Let her go with Mr. Sparrow," he says, handing the keys to the men who unlock the chains on me.

Jack and I row into the cave on our very own little boat. I lean over the side, watching the water flow around us.
"So Jack...what happened the other night? I don't remember a thing," I say, still staring at the water.
"I guess you don't hold your alcohol so well," he chuckles and I stay silent. "Wait- you actually don't remember?" I shake my head. We get to the entrance of the main cave and he stops rowing us in. I sit up and look at him confused.
"Then allow me to jog your memory," he says before leaning in to kiss me once more. I get the same feeling from the other night and everything comes rushing back.
"Did you mean it?" I ask after we pull away.
"Mean what?" he tilts his head in confusion.
"When you said you loved me," I say, looking down.
"I guess you'll have to find out when I come back. Stay here, love. It's the safest for you," Jack says, jumping out of the boat and swimming to the crew.

The chants of "blood" fill the caves again and I slip into the water a few minutes after he leaves. I find a concealed spot in the rocks and grab a sword from a pile of treasure in front of me. I watch closely as Jack worms his way through the crowd of cursed men. The chanting stops and I scan the room, my eyes landing on Will who is positioned over the chest of gold.
"Where's Elizabeth?" I hear him ask.
"She's safe, just like I promised," Jack responds, making his way up to Barbossa. "She's all set to marry Norrington like she promised, you get to die for her just like you promised, and Y/N is staying safe in the boat just like she promised. So we're all men of our word, really. Except for Elizabeth and Y/N who are, in fact, women." 'Little does he know,' I think to myself.
"Shut up! You're next!" Barbossa yells, gesturing to Jack. He then draws a knife and presses it against Will's neck.
"You don't want to be doing that, mate," Jack says.
"No I really think I do," Barbossa says back.
"Your funeral," Jack replies, looking down.
"Why don't I want to be doing it?" Barbossa stands up, rolling his eyes.
"Oh because," Jack smacks a crewmate's hand off his shoulder, "because the HMS Dauntless, pride of the Royal Navy, is floating just offshore, waiting for you." I nervously adjust my grip on the sword. Seeing the man you love next to a cursed pirate holding a weapon isn't exactly the most comforting sight in the world. "Hear me out, mate," Jack starts again, "Order your men to toe out to the Dauntless, they do what they do best," the crew laughs, "Robert's your uncle, Fannie's your aunt, there you are with two ships. The makings of your very own fleet. Of course you'll take the grandes as your flagship, and who's to argue? But what of the Pearl? Name me captain. I'll sail under your colors, Y/N as me first mate, we'll give you ten percent of me plunder, and you get to introduce yourself as Commodore Barbossa. Savvy?" Jack finishes his monologue and I stay in my position.
"I suppose, in exchange, you wanted me not to kill the whelp," Barbossa turns and looks at Will.
"No no no not at all. By all means, kill the whelp," Jack says and I place a hand over my mouth to muffle my quickened breath, "Just not yet. Wait to lift the curse until the opportune moment," he says, looking directly at Will. "For instance," Jack picks up a handful of cursed coins, "after you've killed Norrington's men. Every," he drops a coin, "last" another, "one." I watch as he slips the last coin into his sleeve.
"You've been planning this from the beginning," Will says, struggling against his bindings, "ever since you learned my name!"
   "Yeah," Jack says.
"I want 50 percent of your plunder," Barbossa speaks up.
   "15" Jack counters.
   "40"
"25," Barbossa thinks for a second.
"I'll buy you the hat. A really big one Commodore," Jack says. Barbossa smiles and goes to shake Jack's hand.
"We have an accord!" Barbossa says they shake on it.
"All hands to the boats!" Jack yells to the crew and Barbossa gives him a look. "Apologies. You give the orders," he says.
"Gents, take a walk!" Barbossa says. I quickly climb the rocks to avoid being seen.
"Not to the boats?" I can barely hear Jack over the chatter as the men make their way to the Dauntless.
