"Maddie stop reading and come to the soccer grounds with me!"My best friend whines, I only roll my eyes and continue reading. "Maddie come on you're being such a nerd, what are you reading anyway?", she says. My eyes widen, No no no, she cannot see what I'm reading she will judge.

"Um, I'm reading..." I get cut off by her snatching the book out of my hands.

"Oh my god, Maddie really? You're reading 'The Real Peter Pan' what the fuck?", she says and laughs.

"It's really good okay; it says who Peter Pan really is, what Neverland and the lost boys are like and! How Wendy isn't his true love she is a prisoner on Neverland, Peter Pan is evil and cruel and-" she cuts me off again.

"You do know that this isn't real, right? It's just a middle-aged man who got bored, so decided to re-write Peter Pan", she says, rolling her eyes.

"For your information, it isn't some re-written Peter Pan book. It's written like an information book, not like a storybook. It has here the creatures in Neverland and-"she cuts me off again.

"Yeah Maddie I don't care, now I'm going to the soccer grounds whether you're coming or not", and with that, she left me.

I sigh; I have no idea why she is my best friend. She doesn't even care about me, and at home, my parents don't pay any attention to me. I'm unloved; I'm lost...

I wish I could go to Neverland I could be a lost girl.. but I would probably become a prisoner like Wendy. There are no lost girls on Neverland, only lost boys; it's how it works. Wait, Maddie, are you thinking about how I couldn't go because I'm not a lost boy - I'm a lost girl! It doesn't even exist you dumb fuck.

I shake my head and laugh at myself, I close the book and shove it in my bag, and head to the soccer grounds where Bonnie (My so-called best friend) was.

"Maddie you came are you done being a nerd who likes Peter Pan", she laughs, and I nod.

She runs off and starts playing with the guys and flirt; I wish I had her confidence. I usually am confident and can be sarcastic and smart towards the guys, but when I'm around Bonnie, I feel like I can't compete with her, so I just don't talk to them.

When School finishes, I walk to the park alone and walk up the small waterfall path where I usually read or draw.

I get out my book and stare down at it. Bonnie is right; it's just a book it's not real, why am I wasting my time with this? I am fifteen turning sixteen soon, and I am reading a Peter Pan book.

I take a deep breath and look at it one more time before throwing it in the water, but then a piece of paper comes out of the book and glides with the wind then lands perfectly on my lap.

Hmmm, this could either be destiny that this has happened or just some stupid coincidence? I pick the piece of paper up and unfold it, and it says.

"Instructions on how to get to Neverland."

Woah ok, Maddie, this is just some book - it isn't real! Just throw the piece of paper in the water. Come on Maddie do it. Why haven't you done it yet?

I sigh and continue reading what it says.

1. You must be lost. You cannot go to Neverland unless you are lost.

Well, I am Lost.

2. Be alone in either an open space outside or inside in your room with windows open. It must also be dark out.

I am indeed outside, alone in an open area, I look up and see that it is getting dark.

3. You must believe if this is what you want, you must be 100% committed.
You have read the book, you know it's not some bedtime story...

Woah Woah he is writing this like this is real!

... Peter Pan is evil, Neverland can be dangerous, and if you are a girl, this could be a waste of time because you may get locked up or sent back. No lost girls, not my rules.

4. Now if you have gone over this and have decided you still want to go, then do this.

Close your eyes and believe you must believe otherwise it won't work. Look up at the sky and say these words.

I believe...

"I believe", I whisper without even thinking. It starts getting windy, and I see it.

I see the shadow...
