Anya couldn't remember the last time she truly felt at peace. The idea of it always seemed to linger like a distant thought in the back of her head. The wind blew gently against her ivory skin, and a gentle smile formed on her face as she listened to the sound of the village children laughing.

But then something changed. The air had suddenly grown colder and the wind started blowing viscously against her skin, feeling as if shards of glass were cutting into her. She looked up to the sky and saw numerous flocks of crows flying as if they were running away from something. A rumble of thunder was heard in the distance and Anya spun around coming face to face with the fold. It charged towards her furiously, and soon she was swallowed by the raging wall of darkness.

It was eerily silent. She looked up to the sky, seeing numerous Volcra flying above her. Her breath hitched as she saw the ravaged town of Novokibrisk lying in the endless abyss. Suddenly, the soft familiar voice filled her ears.

"Anya..."

"Kaz?!" She yelled, her voice echoing through the fold.

"Anya..." Another voice said.

"Alina?!" Panic began to settle in as she made her way towards the voices. Multiple whispers of her name filled through the void called by her friends. She spots a small, disheveled shed in the distance and hurriedly made her way over. The whispers grew louder as she approach. She hesitantly reaches for the door knob, retracting her fingers a few times before firmly grabbing onto the knob and twisting. She pushes the door slowly opens and she gasps in horror raising her hand to her mouth.

There in the center of the shed lied her friends. She lets out a horrified scream before dropping to the floor. Her friends, her sister, the man she loved were all dead. Their eyes were opened and glazed over and they each at blood running from somewhere on their bodies. They started at her as she shakily stood up, stumbling out of the shed. She fell to her knees on the ground, trying to resist the urge to throw up.

A cold shiver runs down her spine and a sense of dread and familiarity fills her body. She looks up as a figure slowly made their way out of the shadowed layers of the fold. She gasps in fear and disbelief as the figure lowers their hood revealing their face.

"Anya.." Aleksander whispers.

Anya wakes up gasping. She shoots straight up where she lays, holding her palm against her chest and her other to her face. She feels her powers surge slightly before retreating.. Her heart beats rapidly fast and her breaths are short and sharp. She looks around her surroundings, slowly coming back to reality. She lets out a sigh of relief realizing that she was not actually in the Fold. She looks over to see Kaz laying a few feet away from her, his back against the wall and his head tipped lightly down.

'It was just a dream.' She thought. But yet why did it feel so real to her. She knew Kirigan was dead. But why did she still have the overwhelming fear that he was still near. She pushes the thin blanket off of her and swings her legs to the side. The cold metallic floor sends a shiver up her spine. She slowly walks through the cabin, careful not wake Kaz or any of her other friends.

The moon still hung in the sky as she watched the delicate light shine across the restless waves. She ran her hands over her face, letting out a loud sigh. This was the 6th nightmare she's had since they escaped. And each one grew considerably worse. A few moments went by before a voice broke through the silence.

"What are you doing up? It's late." Anya looked over her shoulder as Inej slowly approached her. She stood next to Anya placing her arms on the rail of the ship.

"Couldn't sleep." She lied, turning her gaze back to the water. Inej gently nodded turning to face Anya.

"You had the dream again didn't you?" Anya lightly chuckled. Of course Inej knew she was lying. Anya responded, nodding her head.

"Same one?" This time Anya shook her head.

"No. No, this time it was different. It felt so real. You all where there too." She confesses.

"There in the fold with you? What were we doing?" Anya could feel tears starting to form. She lets out a shaky breath, looking down at her feet. Inej knew right away what that meant. They remained in silence for a few moments before Anya spoke up again.

"Kirigan was there too." Inej snaps her head towards Anya, a look of surprise on her face.

"But...it was just a dream right? Kirigan is gone." Inej says trying to reassure the scared saint beside her.

Anya didn't say anything right away. She wasn't so sure anymore. Sure, she saw him get dragged away by the Volcra but for some reason he still lingered in the back of her head. Almost as if he was trying to reach out to her. She knew she could trust Inej and she knew that she would never tell Kaz or anyone else her fear. But, they've already been dragged into too much when it comes to Kirigan, and she didn't want to put them in even more danger. So she did what she the one thing she thought she could. She lied.

"Yeah. Yeah just a dream."

Hello my beautiful people!!!!!! Holy shit! Can you believe season two finally came out. It feels like it's been forever. Anyways as you all have probably speculated I am continuing with the story. I haven't got a full plan yet because I haven't watch the full season yet. I am trying to decide which route would be more beneficial for my character to take and what would make the most sense. I figured in celebration of the new season coming out however, I'd give you guys a little taste just to see what y'all think. It may take a while for me to write the second half because I'm an adult now and have to do adult things (bleugh. What genius thought that was a good idea?) but I promise to continue with this book and update whenever I can!!!!!
