It's Gonna Be Okay

Trey's POV

"DADDY!!" I heard Kiara scream.

"TREY!!" Kerri screamed. I looked at Kevin as he closed his eyes. I watched as blood oozed from his head.

"DADDY!!!" I heard Tiara scream. Every sound was so muffled.

"Trey, baby, come on, we gotta go!" I heard Kerri say and she grabbed my arm. I looked at her and back at Kevin's dead body, then heard the twins crying. The sounds were still muffled. I looked to where the twins were. Then everything was clear.

"DADDY!!" the twins cried. I ran over to them, picked them up and hugged them tightly.

"I told you two to stay in the secret room!" I said hugging them, trying to soothe them.

"We were scared!" Tiara cried.

"It's okay, it's okay," I said and rocked them, "She ain't perfect, but she's worth it. Every breath I breathe for the life of me, and I know I might not deserve it, but she loves me and it's simply amazing," I whisper sang as I rocked them. Their crying turned into soft sobs. I took them into their room and told them to pick out 2 of their favorite outfits. While they picked, I ran back to Kerri.

"I'm bleeding," she said with tears rolling down her face. I rushed over to the bed and slowly opened her legs. I ran into the bathroom and ran some warm water over a rag and then took the rag to Kerri. I gently laid the rag on her area.

"This is gonna hurt a little," I said. She nodded and I added a little pressure.

"We need to call the police," she said, sobbing. I grabbed my iPhone out of my pocket and called the police. Within 5 minutes, they were there. They came in through the unlocked door and ran upstairs.

"Uh, sir, ma'am, what happened?" a male officer asked.

"When I got home, my twins, who are in the room two doors down, were sitting on the couch with duct tape around their mouths. I asked who did this to them and they said it was Uncle Kevin. Kevin was my manager, but they didn't know I had fired him. Anyway, I came up here and saw my wife, Kerri, getting raped by Kevin. I had a gun so I aimed it at him. He had one, too, and aimed it at my wife. I told him to remove himself from my wife, and moved closer until I got to his head. I wasn't going to shoot him, but my daughter walked in and he swung his gun in her direction and I shot him," I explained as precisely as I could.

""Is that true ma'am?" the officer asked Kerri.

"Yes. I have bruises to prove he raped me. I'm bleeding right now, and I'm pregnant. I think I need an ambulance," she said.

"If you don't mind, can we talk to the children?" the officer asked. I nodded my head and tended to Kerri's needs. The other officer called the paramedics. 15 minutes later the officer came back in.

"Their story seems legit. Uh, sir, ma'am, you guys are going to have to move out of here. Do you have anywhere to go?" the officer said.

"Yes," I said, still tending to the needs of my wife.

"Don't take anything from here. There is a possiblity that the items of this house could remind the children of tonight and they could possibly have nightmares, or in the long term, have issues dealing with people," the officer explained. I nodded and the paramedics came into the room.

"Ma'am, I'm going to check your vaginal area, is that okay?" a female paramedic asked. Kerri nodded. "BLEEDING HAS STOPPED; MINOR BRUISES; ma'am, are you pregnant?" she asked.

"Yes, with a boy," Kerri said.

"Sir, we're going to need your help. Pick her up and put her on the bed. Be as gentle as possible." I nodded my head and did what they asked. They put her into the back of an ambulance and pulled off. I grabbed the twins, put them in the backseat and followed the ambulance.

Kerri's POV

At the hospital, I prayed to God that my baby was still alive. I also played back everything that happened. In the midst of my thoughts, a doctor came into the room.

"Mrs. Neverson?"

"Yes?" I asked.

"You lost a little blood, but you're fine. However, your baby," she paused. I cried.

"I'm sorry, sweety," the doctor said, "There was trauma to his brain and he didn't make it. I'm so sorry." She placed her hand on my shoulder then walked out. I cried super hard.

The next morning, I laid in bed, zoned out. In the midst of my zone, Trey and the twins walked in with teddy bears and balloons.

"Hey, mommy!" Kiara said.

"Hey sweety," I said and forced a smile.

"Are you okay?" Tiara asked.

"Mhmm," I lied.

"Hey, baby," Trey said.

"Hey, hun," I replied, and a tear rolled down my face.

"Uh, you two go with Me-Mom for a second," Trey said. They walked out and Trey pulled up a chair next to me.

"Talk to me," he said.

"Where do I begin? I was raped, my daughters were in danger, and-" I paused.

"Kerri baby?" he asked.

"Our baby is gone," I cried. Trey began to cry, too.

"It's gonna be okay," he cried, "We have a new home, with new furniture and new everything, and we can try again." I continued to cry. He tried to grab my hand but I moved it away. I didn't want to be touched. He got up, walked to the door, looked at me and with tears in his eyes said, "It's gonna be okay."
