Percy's POV

I opened my eyes and saw a white ceiling that had a small chandelier hanging from it. My head was pounding. I rubbed my face and looked to my right. My throat closed up and my body tensed. I blinked a couple times to see if I was seeing correctly. Unfortunately, I was.

Leigh. She was laying there motionless and asleep. I swallowed. I didn't know what to do. What the hell was my mom going to say to me? I snapped out my thoughts and quietly got out of bed. I reached for my phone and wallet that were on the desk. My hands shook and my heartbeat pounded in my ears. I slipped my shoes on my tip toed towards the door.

"Hey, where are you going sunshine?" I jaw clenched and I slowly turned around.

"What the hell happened last night? Why did I wake up here with you  next to me?" I was starting to get angry. I needed to go.

"You don't remember? We had a blast! You had a couple of drinks and one thing led to-"

"Stop. I would never do something like this. I need you to tell me why I woke up in this room. Where are we anyways?" She looked at the window and then smirked at me.

"Like I was saying, we had a couple of drinks at one of my friend's party. We stay until  midnight and I drove us here. I wasn't going to let you go home like that. You're welcome by the way. Nothing happened between us last night. We just slept... in the same bed." I scowled at her.

"You know what, I'm leaving." And with that I slammed her door and stopped out. My blood was boiling and I needed to go home. I walked out on the street and took out my phone. My lock screen had nine missed calls. Eight of them were from my mom and one of them was from Annabeth.

Last night's dinner.

I stopped dead in my tracks. Unfortunately, I stopped in the middle of crosswalk. A woman honked at me which made me snap out of it.

How could I have not remembered? I should've not gone to that party in the first place. But I couldn't say no. I was just being nice to her, she was new and all.

I walked up to my building and opened my door. My mom laid on the couch with a blanket that covered her from head to toe. I closed the door softly and walked up to her.

"Mom," I whispered as I gently put my hand on her shoulder. Her eyes opened slowly as she took a deep breath.

"Percy, I waited up for you last night where were you? I was scared to death." Her eye were tired and droopy and it was all because of me.

"I was at a friend's house and-" I swallowed hard. "I stayed at their house. I completely forgot to let you know where I was and I am so sorry."

"That girl Annabeth came by this morning to see if you were okay." My body tensed. "She told me that you were supposed to meet up with her yesterday but you never showed up. She wanted to meet up with you for breakfast." I stood up and put my arms around my neck. What now?

"I'll give her a call. Thanks mom." I kissed her forehead and went to my room.

I took a hot shower and tried to remember what had happened last night. I drove with Leigh to someone's house for what I thought was going to be a little get together when really, it was this huge party. I met some people and drank something that Leigh gave me. What the hell was in that drink? After the third one, I was forced to take a picture with Leigh and dance but after that I was out.

I needed to talk to Annabeth. And it had to be now. I felt so guilty. She was the last person I wanted to do this to.

I grabbed my phone and looked through my texts to find her name. I opened the conversation and a photo of me and Leigh came up. I almost threw my phone across the room. I do not remember sending this, specifically being on my phone last night. I read the message she sent before and the text I sent after the photo was sent. I cursed under my breath and dialed Annabeth's number.

I paced my room as I prayed for Annabeth to answer.

"Hi! You have reached Annabeth Chase. Please leave a message after the beep, Thank you." Her voice sounded so innocent. I realized that in that span of three seconds, the beep went off.

"Hey Annabeth, it's me Percy. Listen, I know I totally messed up last night and you probably don't want to talk to me but I need to explain what happened. I was wondering if we could meet up somewhere? I'll actually show up this time," I awkwardly chuckled and swallowed dry. "but I am truly sorry. Hope to uh, talk to you soon." I hung up and threw myself onto my bed. I closed my eyes and tried to get some sleep.

My phone vibrated and I looked over at it. Annabeth was calling me back. I grabbed the phone with my sweaty hands and answered. I put the phone up to my ear and swallowed. I listened closely and could hear her breathing.

"Hello?" My voice came out with a crack.

"Hey Percy, it's Annabeth, I just got your message. You wanted to meet somewhere to talk?"

I tensed my jaw. I was so nervous to see her. But I had to resolve this if I still wanted to be really good friends with her. I wanted her to trust me, not to think that I was just a classmate, specifically a rude one.

"Yeah um, I- I wanted to explain why I didn't show up to the dinner. Leigh went over to my house and she-"

"Hey, just meet me at the library in a few. I'm going to be in one of the study rooms." Annabeth interrupted.

"Great, see you there." I waited little until I heard her hang up. Anxiety built up inside of me. It was time to make things right again.

I grabbed my phone and headed out of the building.

It took me about ten minutes before I arrived at the library. The door creaked as I opened it and the smell of books filled my nostrils.

"Hi dear, what can I help you with?" I looked over at the front desk and saw an old small lady with glasses that looked like they were about to fall. She had nothing but white hair and dark brown eyes.

"HI. I'm just meeting a friend." I smiled and she smiled back at me and nodded. I walked around and couldn't find Annabeth anywhere? I came back around to the front desk.

"Excuse me, have you seen a blonde girl come in today? She's about this tall?"

The old lady looked up. "Why yes I did. And I'm guessing you are the boy that stood her up last night?" She raised her eyebrows. I froze. I was probably as red as an apple. "She is waiting for you upstairs, the first room on the left." I nodded and started walking away.

"Oh and sonny?" I turned around and met her eyes. "She's a keeper, so be there for her next time." She winked at me and went back to work. I half smiled and started walking up stairs.

I looked through the first window on the left and there she was. Sitting next to the window letting the sunlight dance on her skin and hair. She had three large textbooks piled up in front of her and a pen scribbling away at a notebook. Before I could open the door, she looked up at me. I must have been standing there for ages. I awkwardly waved at her and she smiled. She got up and started to walk towards the door.

Here goes nothing.
