Percy's POV

What the hell was Jona doing here? That son of a god had to ruin everything.

"Jona, please I don't want to talk to you or argue with you right now." Annabeth said as she tried to calm him down.

"No I want to talk about it now." He started to get closer to her as she began to back up.

By now they were at least six feet away from each other. The closer he got to her, the more the anger built up inside of me.

"Look, maybe tomorrow we can talk? Clear things out ya know and whenev-" He immediately grabbed her arm and shook her which made her wince.

That's when I snapped. I ran up to them and used all of my force to make Jona release his grip.

"Hey! She said she doesn't want to talk to you Jona, now leave," I said as I pulled Annabeth aside.

"I thought I told you to stay out of this Jackson. Remember? Cause I sure do," he advised.

"Just leave her alone already. And I'm not doing anything to her so you need to calm down." I turned around to face Annabeth. I could tell she was pain but she was trying to get over it.

I whispered the words 'lets go' to her and I took her by her shoulder. All of a sudden I felt a hand grasp my right shoulder and turn me around. Immediately after, I did a full 180 spin, I felt a piercing pain in my chest. Joan had punched me, hard. My ears were ringing and I was hyperventilating. My vision was becoming worse and worse.

I dropped to the ground in pain and Annabeth screamed.

"Jona please stop! Do you see what you just did? God dammit!" Before she had the chance to kneel down beside me, Jona grabbed me by my shirt and picked me up.

He stood me up and plopped me on my feet.

"Fight like a man Jackson! Protect your little girl," he chuckled. " What wimp. You know I shouldn't even compete with you. You wanna know why? Becau-" I threw the second punch, straight to his gut. I hate fighting back. But I wasn't only doing it for myself, I was defending Annabeth. I couldn't give up now.

"You're strong Jackson, but not strong enough!" He ran and tackled me to the ground. He knocked the air out of me but I managed to throw him off of my body.

"Percy! Jona! Please stop! please.." She pleaded. We both broke apart, breathing hard and glaring at each other.

Jona walks up to Annabeth and grabs her arm again.

"Do you see what you do Annabeth?! You worthless piece of shit, I should have never dated you in the first place. Go have fun and do what ever you want with him." He turns around and looks at me, "and you, you better watch yourself next time."

He walks away and then began to run towards the exit of the park.

I turn around and walk to Annabeth.

"Percy, please forgive me its all my fault, if I-" She placed her hand on her forehead. She was holding back her tears.

"Annabeth, don't blame this on yourself okay? Did he hurt you?" I said as I gently placed my hand on the arm he grabbed.

"No. It's probably just bruised that's all. Hey, lets go sit on that bench over there. You don't look so good," she says as she grabs my arm and guides me to the bench.

Annabeth's POV

Poor Percy. He didn't deserve any of this.

I sat him down as he winced at the pain in his ribs that are hopefully not broken. I had a water bottle that at bought at one of the concession stands and offered him some. He thanked me and began to drink it.

"Thanks Annabeth." He smiled and gave me back the water bottle.

"Annabeth I need to tell you something. I received a text this morning, from Jona saying," his muscles tensed. "saying I should stay away from you and watch my back and a bunch of other stuff."

"Percy, things between Jona and I are kinda complicated." Now things were awkward. But I didn't mind it. All I could think about is how I got the new boy beat up by my ex boyfriend. "We used to date, we were happy until he cheated on me with this girl he met at a party. And if you haven't noticed, for his anger problems."

"That bastard." Percy's hands were now in the form of fist. His shirt was dirty and so were his pants. His jet black hair had fallen to his face right above his intense see green eyes. I suddenly realized that we were staring at each other.

To not make it more awkward, I spoke out. "Perce, don't sink to his level, he's just doing this to get back at me for breaking up with him. I don't want you getting hurt, so please use that kelp brain of yours and stay out of it okay?"

"Annabeth, I cant have you getting hurt, either," he retorted.

I reached out and brushed some hair out of his eyes so we looked directly into each others eyes.

"Jona is-"

"A jerk?" he interrupted and chuckled a little.

"Yeah I guess you could say that. But once you get to really know him, he could be a really nice guy." something inside of me churned. I was lying, Jona scared the hell out of me. He was a pretty big guy that had the whole school on his side.

"I know you're lying silly. I can tell because of your facial expression, and your eyebrows." He said as he grinned.

I nudged his side an we both laughed simultaneously.

"Its getting cold out, wanna go home?" I asked as I stood up.

"Sure. Here take my jacket, I might get it dirty anyways." He handed it to me with an ear to ear grin on is face. I smirked and threw it over my shoulders. He smelled so good.

"Ready?"

"Yes sir," I said with a huge grin on my face.

I caught up to him and began to walk to my house. After we walked what seemed like for forever, we arrived at my house.

We walked up to my door and I looked for my keys.

"Oh my god. Percy, I left my keys inside, and I don't have an extra on me." I gave him a weak smile. He chuckled and nudged me.

"Eh, it's okay we can go to my place."

We walked to his place, well jogged alittle cause it had started to drizzle. But Percy couldn't really keep up, I had forgotten that he was injured.

"You know, you shouldn't be running because according to-"

"Okay wise girl." He called me wise girl, and he even smirked, oh Percy, now was not the time. I simply just smiled back and went back to walking.

"Are we there yet?" I questioned.

"Actually we are," he answered with a grin.

We walked up the steps and finally reach warmth and dryness. My hair was damp but not badly wet. While Percy's for some reason was drenched. He shook his head off like a dog which made me giggle, which was strange because I don't usually giggle.

He looked at me with a gleam in his eyes and shook all the water off on me.

"Hey! I'm already wet!" I said wiping off some of the water that hit my face.

He just laughed and walked to his apartment.

"Oh look, I have my key. You wanna know why Ms. Annabeth Chase? Because I am a very responsible and mature per-"

"Just open the door seaweed brain." I said as I pointed at the door.

"Oh, and I'm seaweed brain now? Okay then." His smirk made me roll my eyes.

He put the key in the slot and turned it. The opened to door to complete darkness. It was kinda scary at first but Percy turned the lights on a few seconds after.

"Want anything to drink or eat?" He said as he opened the fridge.

"No I'm okay, thanks." I said as I closed the door behind me.

He nodded and closed the fridge. He signaled me with his head to his room and I followed.

I walked into his room and the scent of Percy hit me. I smiled a little to the scent which gave me chills. His room was pretty neat to my surprise. His desk had a bunch of papers that read "WELCOME TO GOODE HIGH SCHOOL" and other stuff. His bed was dark blue that was next to his night stand filled with books.

"Nice place you got here," I said as I raised me eyebrows in amusement.

"Thanks I try to keep it as neat as I ca-"

There was a knock on the door. I looked at Percy, who was looking straight back at me.

"I don't think its my mom, she was supposed to come later."

The knock came harder and within a few seconds, the door slammed open.

Percy cursed and mumbled something under his breath. "Gabe is back."

"Percy?! Where the hell are you! God dammit."

"Percy I think I should-"

Before I knew it, Percy had grabbed me by the waist and brought me over to his closet. He opened the door as quietly as he could and walked inside with me.

He then closed the door and the darkness had settled around us. I was able to see only the outline of his face and the light entering through the closet door.

There was no room between us. We were literally being pressed against each other. When I tried to look up to his eyes, I had to be careful that my nose wouldn't bump into his chin. That's just how close that damn closet forced us near each other.

"Annabeth, it's my step dad Gabe. He's came home early and I think he's drunk." He whispered.

I could feel and smell his minty fresh breathe tickle my forehead.

"Perce, does he abuse you in some way?" Once I asked this question, I felt percy's body stiffen. There was a very long pause and Percy took a deep breath.

"Yeah."

There was complete silence. I should of just kept my mouth shut.

"If I could I would let you go but I'm afraid he might see you and," he paused," hurt you like he hurts me."

I swallowed. I could feel tears building up in my eyes.

"Percy are you in here? Why aren't you home you little bastard?! I guess someone will be beaten tonight."

We both froze. My heartbeat began to pick up quickly within seconds and I started to breathe fast. Percy shushed me quietly.

My head touched his chin which sent chills down my spin. Then they touched again, but this time we kept still.

Slowly but steady, my body began to lean on Percy's and his arms made his way around my arms. I responded by moving so close to him that not even a piece of paper could pass through us.

My arms began to move around Percy's back which drew me in as close as possible. This was probably the closest I have even been to Percy, but it felt good. I felt safe.
