CHAPTER FOUR |✓

THE MAGICIAN.
chapter four

—♞—

Henley laughs breathlessly as the five magician walk into the elevator, the adrenaline from their show still not quite worn off yet. "That was amazing!" She exclaims.

"Yeah it was!" Jack says high fiving Merritt.

"I know!" Catalina gushes, looking at herself through the slit of mirror on the elevator. "I was amazing!" She says jokingly. The four other magicians turn towards her and give her a flat look. "Okay okay, I guess, we were amazing," she playfully struggles to correct herself.

Jack grins at the blonde wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

"We were alright," the older Atlas sibling says shrugging as he walks out the elevator door. "We could have been better," the ever perfectionist continues

"Not good enough for the control freak, huh?" Merritt asks Daniel as he walks to the hotel door and opens it.

"You know what?" Daniel says turning towards Merritt. "I..."

Catalina cuts him off with a dramatic yawn. "Wow, look at the time. I'm getting kind of tired. I think I'm gonna get in my pajamas and watch a movie. Henley you wanna join?" She asks.

Henley shrugs and nods. "Sure, Jack?"

A hesitant look crosses Jack's face. "Are you guys gonna have chick flick marathon again?"

Catalina rolls her eyes and grabs Jack's hand. "No, we'll spare you this time," she tells him honestly.

"Oh thank God," he says in relief making both Catalina and Henley giggle.

The three friends walk up the stairs. "Oh come on, it wasn't that bad!" Henley protests.

"Yea, it was! If you made me watch one more of those romance movies I would of gotten diabetes!"

"Alright well goodnight!" Daniel shouts to his little sister, ex-assistant and Jack. He sighs as they ignore him and keep talking.

Merritt shakes his head in dismay. "They didn't even invite us."

Daniel walks to the fridge and pulls out some orange juice before pouring it into a cup. "This is your fault, you know?" He tells the older man sipping his orange juice.

"How is it my fault?"

"Because now I'm uncool by association."

"Hey! I'm cool!"

Waking up tangled between muscle-y arms was not something Catalina expected. Catalina lifts her head slightly to look at her position but all she gets is a wall full of chest. A very good looking chest, Catalina thinks. The smooth tan skin is just too big of a temptation to not touch. Catalina quickly untangles one of her hands from Jack and quickly runs a finger alongside Jacks chest.

This is totally not creepy at all, the blonde reassures herself before a very unmanly giggle echoes through the room.

Catalina quickly looks around the room before realizing that the giggle came from Jack.

The blonde sucks in her lips to keep herself from laughing before running her finger along the golden skin once more. Another giggle escaping Jack's mouth.

"Oh my God," Catalina whispers, trying so badly to hold in her laughs.

The blonde runs her finger down his cheat again this time adding another finger. "Stop it!" Jack says in a very childish tone.

"What is happening?" Catalina asks herself grinning before untangling herself and quickly getting her phone before filming some blackmail material.

After getting as many recordings as she can, Catalina quickly takes a short shower and gets dresses before leaving the room to get some tea. On her way to the stairs a bright eye and bushy tail Henley pops her head out of her room. "So...sleep good last night?" Henley asks wiggling her eyebrows, to which the blonde replies with an eye roll.

"Ugh, I need tea," she moans making Henley giggle. "Shut up, Henley!"

"Okay, okay I'm sorry!"

The two girls make their way down the stairs to be greeted by a standing Danny and a reading Merritt.

"How was movie night?" Merritt asks. "You know the one I wasn't invited to because apparently I'm uncool," Merritt says giving Danny a look who, much like his sister, just rolls his eyes.

Catalina raised her eyebrow. "Who says you're uncool?"

"Danny and don't get to close its contagious," Merritt mocks the older Atlas sibling.

Catalina snorts. "My brother's the definition of uncool," Catalina tells Merritt as Henley nods in agreement.

"Okay, you know what?" Danny asks pointing towards his sister.

"FBI! Hands where I can see them!" A group of police officers yell as they burst into the room with weapons in their hands.

"Let's go. Get 'em up. Come on," An officer says.

"Uno minute," Merritt says as he continues to lay on the couch and read.

"Let's go, get 'em up," Fuller tells them again, his gun pointed. "Put the book down," he orders.

Merritt sighs. "Okay," he sighs. "You got me," he says putting the book down.

"Freeze! Hands in the air!" The FBI say as Jack walks down the stairs in his boxers, a white t-shirt now covering his chest. The brunette's brown eyes widen like a deer in headlights as his cheeks and neck start to turn red in embarrassment. "Um, can I put some clothes on?"

"Yeah, go put some clothes on," Fuller tells him.

"So," Henley starts. "Do one of you guys mind giving us a hand with our bags?" She asks trying to take the attention off of Jack.

As soon as Jack comes back, fully dressed this time, the officers start to handcuff the five magicians. They walk them out of the hotel room and into the elevator, each of the cops looking satisfied with themselves. Oh, if only they knew, Catalina thinks while smirking.

"What are you smiling about?" One of the officers asks Catalina noticing her unusual display of emotion. Catalina catches her brother's eye who subtly shakes his head. Catalina rolls her eyes. Oh, what little faith.

"Nothing Officer," Catalina replies respectfully to the man right as the doors of the elevator open. The five magicians walk out into a crowd of people cheering and clapping for them. Wide grins sitting on each magicians face as they duck into the police cruisers.
