Chapter 32: We're Having A Lingerie Bonfire

As soon as I walked into school, people encircled me, bombarding me with a series of questions.

Did it hurt?

No, I'm superwoman, of course it hurt!

How did it feel?

Painful. Obviously.

Did your life flash before your eyes?

Kinda. I suppose.

Can I see your burns?

Ummm, unless I wanna go shirtless....No.

Did you know those two were psychopaths?

Well, I suspected it.

I hope God makes them pay for everything they've done.

God bless you for saying that.

I hope they get electrocuted to get their heads straight.

Now that's a little too far and psychotic.

Kenzie and Liv pulled me through the crowd, "Make way people! Injured person coming through",

"Whoo! I feel like we're the Kardashians now", Kenzie did a dramatic hair flip, "We're missing is a Kris, ooh we should bring Callie along too, she'd make an amazing Kris",

"She'd definitely be down for that", I giggled at the thought of us strutting down the hallway in branded clothing.

Suddenly, Liv stopped dead in her tracks pulling us back with her.

"Guys, please don't tell me that's who I think it is ",

We looked in the direction she was pointing and saw Chelsea, sitting on the floor, covered in tomatoes, the peels clinging to her body. She cried as she tried to get them out of her hair.

We quickly hurried over to her.

"Chelsea what happened?", I crouched down next to her.

She didn't answer, just continued crying.

"Some guys threw tomatoes at her", a girl passing by said, "She deserves it after all the things she did",

"No! That isn't true! Chelsea's not at fault for this!", I protested, "She's the one who pulled me out of the car after the accident!",

Everyone just rolled their eyes, "She should've stopped it in the first place", someone said.

I was so mad, I could feel steam blowing out of my nose. I would've pounced on those guys right then and there but then I felt an arm around my shoulder.

"If I see even one of you fuckers trying to harm Chelsea, I won't hold Harper back from ripping your eyeballs out of your face", Will glared daggers at the people around us, "And don't ignore my girlfriend because then you'll be facing me instead, got it? Now fuck off", he growled.

Everyone dispersed away from us and I let out a frustrated sigh.

"What a bunch of idiots", Daniel sighed as he helped take out pieces of tomato from Chelsea's hair along with Kenzie.

"Why are you a bigger threat than me?", I asked Will.

"Because I'm taller", he kissed the top of my head.

"It isn't my fault that my genes are flawed", I huffed.

"It isn't bad being short", he shrugged.

"You don't sound very sure of that", I glared at him.

"It's also because I have abs and muscles and biceps and triceps and all other ceps in existence", he smirked, "You told me that yourself",

"When did I say that?",

"The night of the party, when you kissed me", he smiled cheekily

"I-was-drunk-out-of-my-mind-it-doesn't-COUNT", I poked his stomach with every word.

"Ouch Harp, that hurts", he winced as he rubbed his abdomen.

"Hey lovebirds, crisis down here", Liv called out to us.

"I'm so sorry guys, this is all my fault", Chelsea sniffled.

"Oh come on Chels, it isn't your fault", Will and I crouched down next to her.

"You know what? Let's take the day off", I suggested, "We can go shopping",

"That's the best idea you've had in the 16 years of our friendship", Kenzie beamed at me.

"That's great, we can skip school", Will said.

"Not you sweetie, you have a quiz today and you even have practice after school and so does Mason, Daniel's gonna be staying too since he's been absent for too long this year because of his extended family vacation",

"Babe", Will gave me a desolate pout.

"Don't babe me, besides we can meet up after school, but for now, it's going to be a girl's day out",

*****

"Now I wish the boys were here, they could have carried all our bags", Liv groaned.

"My poor delicate little baby soft hands", Kenzie whined as she pounced on Chelsea's bed, "At this rate I won't ever become a hand model!",

"I feel so full, I haven't had fast food in years", Chelsea sighed in content.

Apparently, Chelsea wasn't allowed to eat fast food when she was friends with the psychopaths. They told her gaining weight would make everyone hate her. I can only wonder how someone could live so long without a cheeseburger. I would've drowned in an abyss of darkness if I stopped eating fast food.

"Chels, what is up with your clothes?", Liv stood in front of Chelsea's closet with her jaw hanging open.

I stood beside her to reveal an unholy sight.

The closet was full of lingerie and sets of underwear. Lace, Silk, Velvet, you name it. There was everything.

The dresses didn't look like they provided coverage at all. There was not a single baggy pajama set, t-shirt, or anything comfortable in sight.

"My mom would drown me in holy water after knowing I saw this", Liv shivered.

"Yeah, Tanya used to pick out all my clothes, I don't like wearing them at all, I like jeans and sweatpants and baggy t-shirts and all of that", Chelsea cringed at her closet.

"That explains all the sweatpants and t-shirts you bought today", I pointed out.

"So what should we do with these?", Kenzie picked at a lacy pink underwear.

"Throw them away I guess", Chelsea shrugged.

"How about burning them?", I suggested, "We could burn them together",

"That's a great idea, we could have a lingerie bonfire", Kenzie jumped excitedly.

"But where?", Liv asked.

"When is having a boyfriend who has a huge backyard going to come into use?", I pulled out my phone.

*****

"I was told that we're burning underwear", Will said as he opened the door.

"Indeed", I dumped all the boxes in his arms.

"We're celebrating a new, comfortable, confident, carb eating and free Chelsea Abott tonight!", Kenzie did a little spin.

"By burning underwear?", Cody stared at us confusedly as we nodded.

"I demand to know", Callie stood in front of us with her arms crossed, "Why there are boxes of lingerie in my backyard? And also why Levi shakes his head and laughs at me every time I ask him what you kids are doing today?",

"We're having a lingerie bonfire", Will said casually.

Callie stared at us blankly.

"Why couldn't you just stay children?", she sighed.

"Chelsea has finally been freed from the clutches of those devilish psychopaths, and we're going to burn all of Chelsea's old clothes that she was forced to wear, so that she can be reborn as a free woman!", Kenzie announced.

"Well, as long as I don't have any lacy residue left in my backyard, I'm fine", she turned on her heel and left.

"Yay, so should we go burn some lingerie?", Kenzie stated as she started heading towards the backyard.

"You look nice without makeup Chels", Mason said as we walked.

Chelsea's cheeks turned a deep crimson red, "Thank you", she mumbled as she tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear.

When everyone walked through the backdoor, I pulled Mason back.

"What's going on?", I crossed my arms over my chest.

"What do you mean?", he shrugged.

"I mean, Chels, you look nice without makeup and I want to say you look beautiful but I don't have the balls to do it", I mimicked him.

"I have never spoken like that in my entire life", Mason tried to walk away but I pulled him back.

"Admit it, you have something for her", I shook him by the shoulders, "Admit it! Admit it! Admit it!",

"Okay fine, I might have a tiny crush on her", Mason scratched the nape of his neck.

"And when exactly do you plan on doing something about it? After we're old and in wheelchairs?",

"Geez, don't be so dramatic, I'll make my move when it's the right time",

"The woman has already been through so much, she needs a good way to start, and a nice guy asking her out would be a lot better than burning underwear", I explained.

"You're right", he sighed, "How are you always right?",

"It's a talent",

"I'll make my move during the bonfire, cool?",

"Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool", I rambled excitedly before dragging him outside with me.

Liv and Kenzie were already enthusiastically tossing the clothes into the fire, shouting a curse to Tanya and Courtney with each piece.

Idiots.

"Sooo, who's idea was this?", Will asked.

"Honestly, you've known me forever and you still have to ask me that?", I gave him an incredulous look.

"I was taking precautions, so that you wouldn't get offended and throw me into the fire",

"Hardy har har", I mumbled sarcastically.

"How are you doing now?", he asked.

"To be honest", I sighed, "I'm pretty great",

We both shared a smile as we watched multicolored undergarments being tossed into the air.

This was quite the view.

We're getting closer to the end. Prepare to say good bye to our babies.

I'M NOT EXACTLY THRILLED ABOUT IT EITHER OKAY?
