24: Under the Sea

A dark evil thought occurred to me. That thought was to end with the previous chapter. Sorry, dark side, but my thiefshipping is too strong.

Marik was pulled all the way to the grotto and was finally released. Marik had tears streaming down his face. Ishizu approached him in attempt to comfort him, but he smacked her across the face without a second thought, knocking her off balance (underwater........).
"WHY, ISHIZU?!" He said through gritted teeth. "WHY COULDN'T YOU JUST STAY OUT OF IT!?"

Ishizu was shocked at Marik's sudden anger. She knew he'd be upset, but was still surprised. "Marik, I was just-"

"YOU HELPED WITH NOTHING." He was enraged. "I was JUST FINE ON MY OWN."

"Marik, you do remember that Father got killed because one of your past decisions, right? Bakura's the one who brought you here, anyway!"

Marik wanted strangle her but Odion held him back. "Bakura was the only one who actually gave a damn about me! You never stop to think about what I want!"

"Marik, what you want is dangerous!"

Marik's tears continued to run down his face, but he calmed down a bit. "Ishizu, I'm sorry I hit you, I just............." He dropped to the ground. "Oh, Ra!" He began crying again. Ishizu and Odion sat beside him, comforting him, but he was more upset than when all his human items were taken away.
His heart felt like it'd been torn in half. The fact that Bakura had been the one to throw him back in just killed him inside. "Ishizu, there was no way he made that decision on his own, right? He was probably hypnotized, or brainwashed, or-"

"Marik," she pulled him into a tight hug. "He was only trying to protect you."

Marik sniffled. He didn't want to believe it was entirely Bakura's decision to bring him back. "He wouldn't...he'd never....."

Ishizu stroked his hair. "I know what'll make you feel better!" Odion smiled. "A song parody!"

"Uh, Odion...." Ishizu frowned. "We don't sing. Besides, what songs are left?"

"THE OVERDUE ONE! The catchiest song in the entire original movie that we skipped! FOR SOME REASON!" Odion said.

"What song are you talking about?"

He ignored her. "Master Marik," he said to him. "Life on the shore is a mess! Trust me, down here in the sea, is much better than anything they've got up there!"

"What are you-"

Prepare for an overdue song parody, readers.

Ba da ba ba ba ba da ba ba da, ba da da da da da da da da.

"The seaweed is always greener in somebody else's lake, you dream about going up there, but that is a big mistake!" He sang. "Just look at the world around you, right here on the ocean floor! Such wonderful things around you! What more are you looking for? Oh-oh!"
Marik cheered up a bit with each note.
"Under the sea," fish began to gather and join in the song. "Under the sea! Darling, it's better down where it's wetter, take it from me!"
He smiled as the fish played themselves as instruments. "Up on the shore, they work all day! Out in the sun they slave away, while we're devoting full time to floating, under the sea!"

While Marik was distracted, Ishizu snuck away from the grotto and headed toward Melvin's lair. He had to had left behind something they could use.
I can't believe Marik slapped me, though! She thought. He's definitely an Ishtar, I'll admit.

She reached the dark cavern and heard some rustling inside. She hid behind a wall, hoping to not be seen by whoever was inside. She heard glass potion bottles clinking, and she peered around the corner to see who it was.

"Jagashamesh!" She heard, and realized she was seen. She finally made her self known and faced another merman she'd never seen before. "My name is Shadi." He explained in a thick accent of some sort. "You here to find potion, I presume?"

Ishizu nodded. "My brother Marik is a spoiled cry baby. I need to figure out a-"

"Way to make him human. I can offer way to make him human, but you need millennium rod."

"Are you serious? The rod can do that?"

"Not in actual show, no." Shadi shook his head. "But this fanfiction. Anything possible. Is nice."

"Okay, then what was your character even added for?" Ishizu asked. "Now you're useless. There could've been a thousand other ways to get this information."

"Author wanted me here to talk like this. She felt it was necessary at time." He shrugged. "And since you're not Jew, I give you information."

"Uh, okay....I guess.." She turned. "Thanks?"

"Bakura! Where have you been? We were all wondering if you killed Marik!" Ryou ran up to the edge of the dock and saw Bakura on his knees, staring into the water as if he were waiting for something to happen at any given moment. His eyes were slightly red and puffy, and he inhaled while shuddering.

"I let him go, Ryou." He whispered. "I let the one thing I cared about more than anything get taken away."

"What?" Ryou was shocked. "What did you do, exactly?"

"Ishizu wanted her brother back, so that's exactly what I let her have." He took Knifey and stabbed the dock. "Bloody BASTARD!!!"

Ryou backed away. He knew Bakura was in psycho-knife-stabby-mode. And he was also crying, which never happens. Ryou kept his distance and made sure he was out of knife throwing range.

"He tasted amazing." He smiled to himself, now he was just rambling. "His kiss was like eating gooey caramel chocolate."

"...probably the sea salt...." Ryou muttered, then spoke up. "Bakura, when was the last time you had a proper sleep?"

"I don't know, four days ago? Doesn't matter." He stood up. "Ever since I heard Marik for the first time I couldn't sleep. I found him again, and thought I could find some closure, but now he's gone. I let him slip right through my fingers! He hates me. I swear to Ra, he hates my guts now."

"He doesn't hate you, Bakura." Ryou assured, still at a distance. "I bet he understands-"

"No, he doesn't. He thinks I just tossed him away, like trash. He probably never wants to even try with the humans again."

"Now you're just making stupid assumptions!" Ryou burst, and covered his mouth. He doesn't like reviling people or things.

"I know I'm right. Trust me, Ryou. Marik hates me. Much more than I hate him."

"Bakura, are you sure you aren't just tired? You'd be a lot less cranky if you took a power nap."

Bakura grumbled. "I can't sleep! Not when I know he's out there."

"Bakura, I know what you're going through. I know that this time may be hard for you, but-"

"Stop." Bakura got very quiet. "I watched him struggle, Ryou. He scratched and clawed and bit and punched me and pulled my hair and I still gave him back."

Ryou sucked in a breath. "Well, Bakura, I bet if you sleep, maybe you can figure out a way to calm down and-"

"I'm never going to see him again, Ryou." Bakura looked.....sad. "Never again. Not in a million years. And I let him go anyway."
Ryou said nothing. Then Bakura asked, "Did I do the right thing?"

"That's not my call, Bakura." He sighed. "I didn't know Marik or Ishizu or Odion well enough. I do know, however, that you and Marik have a bond that many people don't have." He slowly approached the kitty, and snatched his knife before he could react. "Now, you won't get this back until you have a nice sleep and stop being so cranky. I know this week of the month might be harder on you now, so-"

"Woah woah woah.......hang on." He put a finger on Ryou's lips. "Did you just....................did you just accuse me of being on my period?"

Ryou raised a brow. "Are you?"

"Haven't you ever gotten the talk before?"

"....what's the talk?"
