"I'll kill Tyler if he gives me the flu," Jessica complains at lunch and Neveah snickered

"It's going around," Angela muses. "My sister as so sick she couldn't come to our hike this weekend...so she didn't see it."

"Ang," Eric speaks your, "maybe you should jeep that to yourself..."

"We saw something, Eric," Angela defends herself and Neveah has a feeling they saw the pack.

"I believe you," Eric claims.

"No, he doesn't," Neveah comments, earning a knowing grin from Jessica. "He's hoping to get lucky."

Eric turns to his girlfriend, suddenly hopeful. "Is that an option?"

"It was jet black and huge;" Angela claims, and Neveah knows it was Sam. "On all fours, it was taller than a person. A bear maybe."

"Or big foot," Jessica assumes.

"Or an alien," Mike claims. "Lucky you didn't get probed."

"We saw it,' Angela whispers.

"You're not the only ones," Bella speaks up, surprising everyone by her voice, even Neveah. "My dad's been getting reports at the sherif's station. A couple hikers went missing. People are scared."

"I did hear some guys talking about it at the store," Mike says.  "Neveah, we are still hiring."

"And I told your mom I'd come in for an interview later," Neveah says. "Maybe."

"Last time you clowns doubt my girlfriend," Eric says and Angela mouths a thanks to Bella.
.....

Neveah has been coughing off and on since she got out of school and her throat is sore. She goes home and she feels nauseas. She groans before rushing past Penelope and she makes it to the bathroom right on time.

"Neveah?" Penelope coos as she opens the bathroom door the rest of the way. "Oh dear you're pale." She opens the medicine cabinet and grabs the thermometer. "And..." she waits for the beep. "You're feverish. Any other symptoms?"

"Coughing, sore thtoat, achy munchies, and vomiting," Neveah mutters.

"I'm bringing you to the hospital," Penelope demands. "It's probably that flu going around."

Neveah changes into some sweat pants and a black long sleeve so that the doctors don't ask questions. Penelope brings her out to her car and Hector... he's at the station with Charlie, it's one of his favorite places to be when he's not at home or school.

Penelope goes to the reception desk to sign Neveah in. Neveah texts Conner once again. She'll text him once a week to let him know how she's going.

To: Conner Hale
I know you won't reply to me, you never do. This is my weekly update! I went cliff diving after learning about those shifters you guys hate so much, they're amazing! But there's a flu going around and I'm at rhe hospitsl right this instant.

"Neveah Swan!"

And now I have to go. I'll text again next week!

Neveah hits send before she goes with the nurse and Penelope toward the emergency room. They check her temp, blood pressure, weight, pulse rate. Her fever has died down some but her nose is stuffy now and her theorist is still sore. She's not coughing as much but she's fatigue.

"Doctor Marcs will be here as soon as possible," the nurse says before closing the curtain.

"I called Charlie," Penelope claims. "He's keeping Hector at the station but I'm down as a legal guardian. I'm down to get your medical records."

Neveah only nods as she lays down, covering up. She has been getting chills. Her phone chimes. Her breath release, but shuttered and relieved.

From: Conner Hale
On my little love bug, I love these weekly updates from you. It helps us refrain from worrying too much, it gives Jasper a clear mind as well. I miss you so, so, so, so and so many more so's much. You're still my friend and as for the wolves, I'm glad you're making friends instead of enemies.

I hear the doctor at the hospital in Forks is dr. Marcs now. He's alright but he's no Carlisle. It's too bad you might have the flu, but I love you anyway love bug.
Love,
Conner

PS, Emmett says hi spider monkey.

"Conner texted me," she whispers.

"Finally," Penelope coos.

Neveah nods and Doctor Marcs walks in.

"Neveah Swan, hello!" Doctor Anthony Marcs greets energetically as he walks in, his demeanor makes Neveah miss Carlisle. "I want to run a flu test. Is that alright?"

"Can... can I have a woman doctor?" Neveah asks.

Doctor Marcs sighs. "I am the doctor on call, Miss Swan."

"The only man doctor Neveah fully trusted here was doctor Cullen," Penelope tells him. "Neveah, I am right here, no one is going to hurt you. Let doctor Marcs do the test so that they can diagnose you and heal you."

Neveah notices doctor Marcs eyeing her like she's food and she nudges Penelope. Penelope demands for another doctor, this time. She saw how Anthony was looking at her.

To: Conner Hale
I don't like the way doctor Marcs looks at me, eyed me like I was food so I demanded another doctor.

She hits send right as doctor Anderson walks in. Doctor Hilary Anderson was one of the doctors with Carlisle when Neveah first came to Forks. Neveah calms down when she sees a familiar face, a woman. Her phone chimes. She allows doctor Anderson to to an evaluation before she goes to fetch a nurse.

From: Conner Hale
That guy better be lucky Jasper doesn't read these messages and we're far away. He better be lucky Emmett isn't there. You know how Emmett is over you love bug.

Neveah doesn't reply, she will text her weekly update one more next week. She sees the same nurse as before enter and she does the flu test. Neveah lays back down and she sighs before she breaks out into a coughing fit. Penelope frowns as she talks with Charlie on the phone.

The flu test came back positive and doctor Anderson called in some medicine for Neveah to take to help her. Penelope drops the script off before driving Neveah home. Neveah goes straight to bed and curls up in her blankets. She texted Sam on the way, telling him she has the flu and she won't be over for a little while.

While Neveah sleeps, Penelope waits until Charlie gets home with Hector and she goes to pick up Neveah's medicine.
