Chapter 70

Ivy

We pull into Aaron's family home—estate rather, and I try not to seem surprised. Acres upon acres of land, bright green grass, I've never seen anything quite like it.

And the inside is just as beautiful. Big open windows, and white marbled floors come to my vision, and I'm awestruck. Something about it, though, seems quite bland, a place where I couldn't sit, and cosy up to a nice book.

"Hello," I hear a voice say. I turn around, and see a small woman who looks to be Aaron's mother. Same green eyes, and same watchful gaze, the resemblance is uncanny.

She wears a long red dress, red lipstick to match, and I'm suddenly happy I didn't opt for jeans. "Hi," I say back, smiling. She isn't looking at me though, her eyes on Aaron.

I grab his hand, interlacing our fingers, and taking him out of his trance. She raises her eyebrows. "Mom, Ivy," he says pointing to me. "Ivy, mom," he says, pointing back to her.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Kristensen." I extend a hand, and she takes it.

"You too, Ms. Blake. I've heard quite a lot about you."
