The Conventions

You woke up to Katie's message, wanting to call her but then remembering she would have to get up early for her hair and makeup. You settled for sending her a quick good morning message.

'Good morning, beautiful. I wanted to call you but then remembered about your early morning. Maybe you should tell Melissa and the rest of the crew, I doubt they'll be able to hold back any questions after seeing the ring. Love you and I miss you too. Can't wait for your call."

Katie had been on her way to the convention center when she received the message. Melissa noticed the smile and decided this was the perfect opportunity to bring back the conversation from last night.

"Is that who I think it is?"

"What?"

"The one who put a ring on that finger?"

"Oh, yeah. They just wanted to see how I was doing."

"That was sweet of them."

Melissa didn't have a chance to ask anymore questions as they had arrived. The rest of the cast pulled up behind them and soon everyone headed inside the center.

Katie hadn't expected for it to be this many people around. It was making her nervous, she didn't want to take off her ring but she wanted to continue hiding her relationship. She was private, it was difficult just reveal something like this. Her birthday was still a secret and she liked it that way. Being in the public eye was draining, she just wanted to keep a part of herself private.

The first thing on the agenda for her was to take pictures and then sign autographs. It was easy to brush off the question about the ring in both sections so maybe the rest of the conventions wouldn't be too bad.

You had been stuck for most of the morning in meetings so you didn't have a chance to look at Twitter or anything to see what they would post about Katie. You only followed these accounts to get pictures of Katie and sometimes it was nice to see how everyone was being supportive and kind to her. When you first opened the application, you did not expect for everyone to have zoomed in pictures of Katie's hand. You ignored the thirsty posts and focused on the ones that started having theories about what the ring meant and who might have given it to her.

You had been pulled down that rabbit hole, that it startled you when Katie had called you.

"Babe! How are you? How's it going?"

"Spit it out. I know about your secret Twitter account."

You didn't bother denying it, she had free access to your phone and must have seen it while she had used it.

"Well they are all drawing conclusions about the ring. Some of them are just being thirsty and commenting about your hands."

"My hands? I don't even want to know. I just wanted to hear your voice. I only had a few minutes before our interview. Gotta go, love you."

"Love you too."

You had some free time and tuned in to watch the interview. You smiled seeing the ring on her finger and sent her a message telling her that she looked beautiful. After that, you focused back on the work, you had fallen behind and needed to catch up.

Katie's day had been exhausting. She kept dodging questions about the ring but continued to smile, sign and take pictures with her fans. The whole reason she did this was because she wanted to meet with her fans.

She only had enough time to send you a quick goodnight message before falling asleep on the plane to their next location.

You smiled seeing how she managed to practically misspell everything. It was adorable to see how she attempted to say goodnight despite not able to focus. You answered and fell asleep.

The other two conventions for Katie had been much similar to the first one. She would keep on dodging questions with other conversation topics. It was exhausting but she never got tired of meeting new fans or answering anything else they had asked of her.

The fans didn't seem to have any problem with Katie ignoring their question about the ring as they knew she tended to be private. They wouldn't even bother to repeat the question or continue asking questions similar to it. The ones who didn't care about Katie's privacy were the one's conducting the interview. It got to the point that Katie didn't bother to show up to the third one.

"I feel like I just disappointed all my fans. I know how much they enjoy seeing my answers to their questions but I can't handle the interviewer asking their own questions. They don't seem to care about privacy."

Katie had called the night that she had missed the interview in tears, saying that she wanted to skip out the last convention.

"You did not disappoint them. In fact, they were all understanding about it. Just give me a sec and I'll show you proof that they even supported the fact that you missed it."

You put the phone on speaker and logged into Twitter, taking a screenshot of the posts that supported her and her decisions.

"Is your username seriously Lena's eyebrow?"

"That's not important!"

You could hear her try to cover up her laugh with a cough.

"You're lucky that I love you."

She stayed quiet while reading through the tweets.

"Maybe, I should go to the last interview. I know they are okay with it but I hardly do them and I can see how they always look forward to them."

"Well it's always up to you babe. Whatever your decision is, they'll be happy. I support whatever you decide."

"I guess you're right. I have to go. We're heading out to the plane for our next stop. Goodnight, love."

"Goodnight, Katie."

Katie woke up bright and early the next day. Wanting to call you before she got busy. The call to you helped her calm down a little as she had been nervous since deciding to go to this last interview, especially as it would be a solo one. The signing and taking pictures with the fans had gone perfectly fine. Practically no one asked about the ring anymore and it allowed her a chance to breath before the interview.

"We're here with the lovely Katie McGrath."

"Thanks for having me."

"Thank you for joining us. Lets get started, we have lots of questions to get through and a couple of minutes to get through it."

The first few questions had been fine, they were mainly about what it was like to act as Lena and listing things that she liked. The interview was coming to an end when he decided to ask questions about the ring.

"It's been on all our minds and I'm sure you know what everyone has been wondering. Who's the lucky fella?"

"Oh.."

She began to look around, hoping to catch someone's eye. It just so happened that Chyler had overhead the question and decided to help her out.

"That's no one's business. Katie here has answered all the questions that have been signed off and this one is off the books. We're done here."

With that said, she pulled Katie out of the camera and into a safe area with no fans or cameras.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, thank you for that."

"Don't mention it. Lets head back to the hotel. The others are waiting for us."

The two of them headed back to their assigned cars to take them back to the hotel.

"...and she actually pulled me out of there."

Katie had called late in the night to explain what had happened.

"That was really nice of her."

"I know and I feel bad for keeping our relationship from them. Maybe I could introduce you to them. I'll be inviting them to the wedding and I know they are just dying to meet the one who managed to put a ring on my finger as Melissa put it."

"I would love to meet them. You go back to filming this Monday, right?"

"Yeah. What were you thinking?"

"Maybe I can come visit you on set. It'll give me a chance to meet them."

"That sounds perfect. I can't wait to see you Monday then. I'll let you go, I know you have an early morning tomorrow."

"Mhm. You too. Goodnight Katie. I love you and I can't wait to see you"

"Goodnight, (y/n). I love you too and I'm looking forward to Monday."

You hung up but before falling asleep, you emailed your boss asking to work from home next week and booking a plane to Vancouver
