Chapter 6 - The Paper Crane

Hoseok woke up every morning, flashing a smile to his mother who would come to wake him up the umpteenth time. He would hug both his parents before running to school trying to beat his own record every day.

He would smile and wave at everyone on the way and even at school. Everyone knew him at school from teachers to students to the janitor. His smile was like the sun causing all the sunflowers to rise up with energy.

Yoongi was his best friend. They were friends since they were made to sit with each other in class a year ago. Once they were taught how to make paper cranes in origami.

No matter how much he tried Hoseok couldn’t make one properly and would end up tearing it. And then he saw Yoongi try. Yoongi made them so beautifully, Hoseok couldn’t help but be amazed and cheered him on.

That day after class Yoongi gifted him the most perfectly made paper crane. Hoseok kept it safe in his room forever.

No one could understand this friendship because both of them were like the opposite poles. Completely different. Yoongi was silent, moody infact. But with Hoseok, he laughed and played.

When Hoseok told him about his interest in skate boarding, it was Yoongi who told him about the Bowl. One evening after class they visited the Bowl and instantly fell in love with it.

The following day Hoseok carried his skate board along with him to school. And after school they went straight to the Bowl. After watching Hoseok skate, Yoongi took an interest and Hoseok taught him.

He always noticed the lonely boy sitting alone on one of the steps. His glasses sometimes so low on his nose as if in danger of falling off. His back arched like rainbow looking into his book and writing occasionally.

Sometimes he would stare at the sunset. Sometimes he would watch them playing. Every single evening when they came the boy would already be there.

Curiosity took over Hoseok and one day he approached the boy. And that’s how he met Jin.

Yoongi initially neglected Jin though after a few days he too started talking to him. He had trust issues. Though Hoseok always knew that Yoongi was a softy on the inside.

Slowly their group grew bigger. He loved this. He loved all of them.
