The day had come for all the boys to finally meet Sohyun.

Tae wanted to bring Sohyun to the Bowl to meet the others. But Kookie had flat out refused. The Bowl was their sacred place, their home. He didn’t want an outsider to break its sanctity.

Tae wanted to tell him that Sohyun was not an outsider. But he realised that she wasn’t close to any of the other boys. Hence they settled to meet at the café again.

They sat at a long booth, four seats on either side. Joon, Yoongi, Hoseok and Kookie on one side. Jin, Jimin, Tae and Sohyun on the other. Sohyun sat opposite Kookie, both occupying the edge seats.

All of their shakes placed in front of them, the ice cream had started melting. Tae was tensed as he eyed Kookie. Kookie on the other hand kept his eyes glued to the melting ice cream and the tiny droplets of condensation that formed on the outside of the glass.

“So…,” Yoongi spoke detecting the tension in the air, “You two have been dating for some time now. We have heard so much about you.”

“Me too,” Sohyun replied with a smile,” I had already met Jimin and Hoseok oppa. I’m glad I could finally meet all of you.”

She eyed Kookie who just glanced back at her without any particular interest on his face.

Sohyun cleared her throat,
” I hope you all like me. I know how much all of you mean to Taehyung,”
she eyed Kookie as she ended her sentence. The boys nodded in response.

“Of course! Anything for Tae,” Joon beamed.

The boys walked first to the Bowl while Tae stayed behind with Sohyun to talk. He made Hoseok wait for him as he wanted company in case it got late. He couldn’t ask Kookie because he was worried.

As he watched them walk away, he asked her,

”I think it went well, did you?”

She nodded with a smile, “I think so too.”

He moved closer to her, and grabbed her fingers. She looked down at his hand and smiled at the gesture.

She continued,” But-“

“Kookie will come around,” Tae said looking into her eyes. She hummed and looked down.

Sensing a hesitation he asked,
”what’s wrong?”

She looked up at him and said,” I’m a little worried about him,” and she looked away.

Tae followed her gaze and saw the boys walk away. He squeezed her hand and smiled, giving her a sense of relief.

“Hyung!”
Hoseok turned his head and saw Tae walking towards him, Sohyun following behind.

“Hyung just keep her company. I’ll be right back.”
Before Hoseok could say anything Tae ran back to the café.

“He has some surprise I guess,” she smiled and said.
Hoseok just smiled in return.

“I really do hope you all like me,” she said after some seconds of silence.

“We do,” Hoseok said nodding awkwardly.

“Really? Because I felt that maybe you didn’t. At least some of you.”

“Kookie will understand soon. He is still a kid,” Hoseok replied to her looking at the direction the boys walked away in. She nodded.

Then said, ”What about you?”

He snapped his head towards her immediately. He saw that she was looking at him as well.

“What about me?” He asked her.

“Why do I get the feeling that you don’t like me very much?” she asked slowly.

She sighed and said,
”With Kookie it’s obvious. He shows his disapproval. With you…” she paused and continued,

“Just tell me if you don’t-“

“No no!” Hoseok shook his head profusely,” I do like you. I’m sorry if I made you feel that I don’t. I love Tae very much. And I’d do anything for him.”

“Okay. Thank you”, she smiled at him. He smiled in return.

“Friends?”, she put forward her hand.

He slowly took it in his and shook it slowly,

“ Friends.”

Her smile. Her eyes. Watching her up close was even more mind wrecking. An increased heart beat and a little shock through his fingers. That’s all he could feel at that moment.

He couldn’t move his hand for he worried he would forget how her hand felt in his. This was bad. Really bad. This wasn’t planned at all. And he worried of the consequences that would follow. But he couldn’t help it.

He, Jung Hoseok, was hopelessly in love with his best friend’s girlfriend.
