The Hero's Last Fight

Chara's pov

I sat next to Frisk as we watched ourselves approaching the bridge. The bridge where the Player would attack MK, only to be stopped by Undyne. I remember narrating things in a pacifist route, where they would become friends and Undyne would leave after they saved MK from falling off.

If only.

We waited as The Player moved to the bridge to see a surprise.

MK wasn't there.

In his place stood Undyne, strangely holding a recorder in her spear-free hand. We smiled.

Sans had warned her.

Player's pov

I looked at my computer screen. Where was Monster Kid? Why was Undyne here? This was the third time the game changed on me! I sighed, stopping the game and calling my friend. She answered on the second ring. "Hey Miss Pacifist." I greeted her. She immediately understood we were talking Undertale. You see, we have nicknames to greet each other with according to the subject we called about. We say our real names when calling about something new. "Hey Mr. Genocidal Maniac. What's the issue?" I sighed. "My game keeps changing on me." "What do you mean?" She answered. I could hear the doubt in her voice. "In two saperate occasions, there has been small changes." "When and how?" She asked, panicking. "First, in our first meeting with Sans, Frisk started to stumble, and when they turned around, I suddenly lost control as they said "We are not in control!" Before the control was back at me. Then, where we get cornered by Undyne before MK shows up, I lost control once again as Frisk said "No... control. Player... in... charge. Talk... to... Sans." Before I was in control once again. Now I'm staring at the third change. Remember the bridge where we confront MK?" "Yes..." I could hear the slight fear in her voice.  "He's not here. Instead, there is Undyne with a recorder at hand." I heard her spit out whatever she was drinking before she started to mumble to herself. "Missing characters... Extra items... Change in dialogue..." She then gave out a loud, mocking laugh. "Congratulations, you genocidal scum, you did so many genocide routes that your game became an AU!" She kept laughing as I stood there in shock. "Welp, tell me the details later. I have exams coming up. Bye!" She then ended the call.

Well then.

Frisk's pov

The "game" started back up. Undyne started to record everything has she started talking. "Bet there was supposed to be something else here, huh Player? Sans told me everything. Frisk... Chara... You punks better break out again! Someone contacted us and we're doing our best to help you, but we can't if we don't know enough. Come back and tell us what's wrong, or I swear on Asgore you'll be in trouble when you are back! I don't know what we did together when you were free, but that doesn't mean I don't have the feeling I liked it, you hear me punk!" We looked at her. she was asking us to break free? "Time to try again, partner." Chara told me. I nodded in agreement and we started to punch our way out once again.

Undyne's pov

Cracks started to appear again. It was working! Their eyes became almost fully brown, with red occasionally falling off the sides as it tried to fix itself. Frisk started to talk. "After an ending in which we were all friends, we lived on the surface for a full year! It was the best thing that could have ever happened to me, so you can imagine how I felt when I woke up to a prison in my own mind back in the underground. In that first time, Chara was just a spirit that shared my mind and guided me through the underground. But now, they were a prisoner just like me, only going out at the end to try and make the player turn away from continuing this genocidal path." The amount of red started to rise. They were running out of time. "We don't want this anymore! We never did! I know you guys can do it, so please, set us free! Run before he takes back control, and give that to Sans. It's the only way." They sounded more and more desperate as the red closed in. "Run!" They shouted before the Player to control once again. I listened.

Will save you, both of you. Just keep it up a little bit longer.
