Chapter 9

A day passed. Alex didn't say one word to his confused brother, before heading out the door with their father. Ben watched from his bedroom window as his dad's truck drove Alex away to the next hangout without him.

Ben immediately texted Serena, and told her to meet up with Alex at Jesse Smith Library, the hangout Alex is heading to. She agreed and set off.

Alex arrived quickly at the library, hurrying into the conference room. Jaden, Jackson, and Angie were waiting for him.

"Now don't think I'm joining you in your little prank on Ben, I'm here to rant and hopefully get back at Serena" warned Angie. She sat across the table from the three grinning boys. "We're here, now we plan," said Alex.

"To ruin Ben and the squad, we must first spill out the biggest secrets he has" said Jaden. Alex nodded, knowing exactly what his brother has been hiding. "Ben and Serena like each other," said Alex. This got Angie's attention.

"He shouldn't like her, he has no idea what she's capable of," she warned. Jackson felt uncomfortable, and tried to play on his phone until it was his turn to speak.

"Well, we tell the rest of the squad then. I'm sure they'll be surprised," said Alex. "How about we add in a lie?" asked Jaden. The two boys thought.

"Add in that Ben's a rapist. A sniveling coward" laughed Alex. He really wanted to ruin his brother mentally and psychologically. "What's going on here?" asked a voice.

The group turned their chairs around to Serena, putting her hands on her hips. "Serena..." began Alex and Angie at the same time. She walked over and sat with them.

"Go on, what is it?" she demanded. Jackson rolled his eyes and chuckled. "We just wanted to talk about more hangouts, it's awful that Ben wasn't able to attend," lied Alex. "Oh," said Serena. Alex reached to hug her with a warm smile, but she pulled back.

"Can I speak to Angelina?" she asked. Angie got up, her head looking down to the floor. Serena grabbed her and led her outside the conference room. Alex and Jaden gulped.

"I guess we should plan without Angie then," suggested Jackson. Meanwhile, Serena pulled Angie around the corner.

"Now you listen here, you little duck-faced runt, don't plan anything against me or Ben, got it?" said Serena to Angie. Angie shoved her away, and shook her head no. "I'm trying to defend Ben, away from you. Who knows what you could do to him" she said.

Serena gasped. "What do you mean? Breaking his heart? Angie, he's too sweet to hurt," she said. Angie looked away. "Does Ben know? Huh?" she cried out. Serena walked off, not wanting to start a huge fight. Angie decided it was best to leave the library as well.

Back in the conference room, the three boys had completed their devious plan. "We accuse Ben, give out lies to the squad that he's more than just a friend" said Alex. Jaden agreed, as Jackson just shrugged his shoulders.

"When's the next meeting?" he asked. "Let's plan to get more people in on this, then we'll figure out a place. Text me" said Alex to his peers.

The hangout had ended. Alex's father brought him back home late in the afternoon. Ben was in his bedroom, waiting for Serena to text him back.

Finally, she did. She texted him the whole argument with Angie, and that Alex and his friends have planned something big and disastrous for Ben.

Enraged, Ben knew this had to come to an end, now. Ben put his phone away, and knocked on Alex's bedroom door. Alex let his brother in. "What?" he asked.

"What are you planning on about?" asked Ben. Alex immediately knew Serena somehow found out. "Ben, you're out of control. Jaden and Jackson have my back, we all know you're a time bomb ready to explode at any given moment" he explained.

Ben gasped. "Stop that, Alex, stop whatever you're planning" he warned him.

"Why? I want Serena back, I want all my friends back to me, they've all focused on you. You've shut me out" Alex explained.

"We share. I was in a dark phase with other friends, I needed more to keep me balanced. I'll let you join the hangouts, you can have a say in it too" said Ben, trying to reason with him.

"They're mine, Ben. All those girls are mine, they all started with me, not you, you bastard" said Alex, crossing his arms.

"You really like to piss me off, you asshole" asked Ben. The two brothers were in an intense confrontation.

"If it wasn't for me showing off my friends, you would be nothing" said Alex. This triggered something in Ben.

Before he knew it, Ben had already struck a punch towards Alex, in the face. The two tackled each other, landing on Alex's bed. Alex kicked Ben in the face, knocking his glasses off.

Ben pinned Alex down, punching him in the stomach and face. "Screw you," he said. Alex spit in his face and rolled him off his bed. Ben got up to out his glasses on.

"Don't think this is the end," said Alex. Ben raised his fists and tried to hit his brother, but missed. Alex kicked Ben in the private parts, and pushed him out his bedroom door.

"Woah woah, what the hell is going on here?" said a voice. Ben and Alex's father appeared, looking down on Ben. Neither brother was crying.

"Go to your rooms, both of you" said their dad. Ben walked back into his room, finally sobbing. "This won't go unpunished" said Ben.

Thinking, Ben remembered Alex mentioned forming some group of friends against Ben. Ben knew it was his chance to make his own group himself, the friends he fully trusted.
