"You are late," Lando said, annoyed.

George entered the living room of Lando's house. Alex smirked and laid down on the couch. "We already ate, leftovers are in the kitchen."

"Thanks," George said and sat down on the sofa. It became silence.

Lando looked at Alex and then at George, they both looked questionable at each other. "And is there a reason why you are late, George? You know you could have text us," Lando asked and crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"She's awake."

Lando looked again at Alex, parted his lips now. The air was sucked out of his lungs, awake. "W...what? Since when?" Fear started to pump through his veins.

"Mate, why haven't you told us?" Alex asked.

George swallowed hard. "Yesterday," he softly answered. "She...it was almost too late, the doctors advised to look up the other options. I held her hand, and suddenly she squeezed in it," he added. His eyes glanced over Alex before looking at Lando. George had a broken smile on his face while his eyes wet with tears.

"That's amazing. How is she?" Alex relievedly said and kept studying George his face, there was coming a 'but'. "It is, right?"

"But..?" Lando quietly asked and stared at George; his face spoke volumes. Something wasn't right. It became painfully silence again.

George was trying to hide his feelings, but it was about her. "Nora has some kind of memory loss, she doesn't remember the last five days before it happened. It is because of the shock her body got, and not temporarily."

"So she doesn't remember the day itself?" Alex asked he didn't see why it was terrible. George shook his head. "That's better for her, I mean, it was fiercely, so not having that memory, for now, is probably better," he blurted. His eyes found Lando's eyes.

Lando was confused, he didn't know what to feel. Of course, he was happy; Nora was awake, but he was feeling empty. He gave Alex a look, the 'you-know-what-I-mean' look. "Mate," he hissed.

"What?" Alex whisper-yelled. Until it hit him, he understood the look. "Oh, ow." He mumbled and looked down.

"I know I should be happy she's awake and doing fine under the circumstances, but I just..." Holding back, the tears were almost impossible for George now. One tear escaped, followed by more. Tears spilt over and flowed down his face like a river escaping a dam. "She doesn't remember it, and I can't tell her because of that stupid therapist. The smile on Nora's face is so precious and happy when she sees me, but the fact I can't do anything is just..." Finding the right words to express himself became more difficult. And he felt terrible to show himself like this in front of two best friends.

"It is temporarily," Lando tried to keep it positive, but he felt his pain. "And...and if she remembers everything before the five-day black-out, or whatever it is called, she does remember everything, knows her emotions," he told him and softly smiled to comfort him.

"I know," George mumbled and dried his cheeks. "It's so confronting, she doesn't show anything. I can't read her."

Alex sat up. "That's probably because of the medicine she gets, George. She remembers everything, I'm one hundred per cent sure." He felt sorry for George. "It isn't on her mind now, maybe it will be back in a few days when she's stronger. And you know Nora, she is a professional in hiding things when she wants to."

A soft chuckle rolled over George his lips. "That's true," he admitted and softly sniffed. "I'm sorry," he apologised and dried his cheeks again.

"Don't be," Alex replied. "It's been a hell of a month. The emotions you have been hiding all come out, it's fine."

Lando gave George a warm smile and nodded. "But overall, she's fine?"

"Yeah, apart from the fact she can't do anything. Her muscles are too weak because of the coma, everything hurts, and she's tired. However, she is stronger than they thought she would be, she is capable of having conversations and laugh, so that's good." George pressed a smile on her face. "You can visit her in a few days if you want."

Alex and Lando nodded happily. "We will," Alex said. "I will text her first."

"She doesn't have her phone...and she isn't allowed to look at screens," George awkwardly said.

"That's bull crap," Lando blurted. George and Alex, both snorted. "I mean, understandable. We will surprise her, and you're part of it," he said and pointed at George.

"No problem, sir. Let me know when, so I can ask her parents if they agree with it," George happily said.

Alex let himself fall on the couch again and sighed relieved. "I've been waiting for this, the moment she would wake up, knowing it will be alright."

"The amount of stress and anxiety that woman can give me is not healthy anymore," George spoke and shook his head. "It was not healthy."

Lando deeply inhaled. "She's fine, like always. But this was indeed stressful as fuck, it wasn't funny anymore."

"Of course it's not funny, obviously," Alex blurted.

Lando rolled his eyes and ignored his comment. "The sleepless nights can be thrown in the bin now, thank god she's fine."

"But, eh," George said. "I'm sorry I'm late, and I'm sorry I missed dinner. But you mentioned leftovers?"

It was the first Friday of the month, meaning Lando, Alex and George had a game night, including dinner. Nora attended a few of those nights too, but she was quickly bored because gaming wasn't her cup of tea.

"Yes, dear. Pizza is in the oven, heat it up and enjoy. Help yourself out, you know how it works," Lando said and waved with his hand in the air when he turned away from George.

George got up and walked to the kitchen. God, I feel embarrassed by having a breakdown in front of my two best friends over Nora. He opened the oven and felt if the pizza was warm, it was eatable warm. A small smile grew on his face, they left pizza over for him.

"Mate, it's fine to eat it like this. Thanks for saving!"
