Chapter 10

The nurses had used some of the funds to throw Fergus a going away party now that he was finally fit to be discharged and everyone was happy for him. And just before his departure, he'd promised them a parting gift. Apparently, the sly devil had made a deal on the outside with a rich inventor, promising to help with his inventions in return for financial help and funding for the asylum. The inventor, glad to meet another machine lover such as himself and since he'd also overcome a mental illness himself to become the man he was, readily agreed.
Campbell looked up gloomily from his mixing console at everyone dancing on the makeshift dance floor set up outside the asylum, in the hopes of spotting Fergus. The man himself seemed to not have shown up at his own party. Campbell pouted, but continued to deejay, until Eddie offered to take over from him, allowing him some rest.
He felt a palm rest upon his shoulder as he headed towards the punch bowl. He turned in the hopes of seeing the great big lug with the unruly mane, but was instead greeted by Jeannie with a yellow polka dotted ribbon gracing her pixie cut hair and a friendly smile gracing her face as she looked up at him and stretched out a hand. "Care to dance? Ya looked lonely." she suggested with childlike innocence. Campbell's eyes widened, taken aback on hearing the usually reserved girl's voice for the first time ever since she'd arrived at the asylum. Oh, well! A staunch believer of magic an' miracles, he shrugged it off, having had received a gloveless, barehanded handshake from Rosalie earlier that day. He took her hand in his, warmly leading her to the dance floor before they began waltzing to the music.
He felt a pat on his shoulder midway through the dance and this time he knew for sure who it was. Judging by the sly grin across Jeannie' s face (as if to praise herself on a job well done) and the deep voice that followed, he knew the one he'd been waiting for had arrived.
"Thanks for keepin im occupied till I arrived, Jeannie." Fergus thanked the helpful pixie haired girl. "Happy to help." she replied. "Oh, my God! Campbell Bain just kissed me!" Jeannie (who'd harbored a crush on Campbell) let out a squeal as the RJ politely planted a kiss on her hand before letting go and watching her skip gleefully across the dance floor."Well, that made er day!" Campbell muttered, raising an eyebrow on watching her skip about, before turning towards his sharply dressed boyfriend. " Sorry, I'm late, mate." Fergus apologized, running a hand through the short, slick hairstyle that he sported now. "That's alright. Better late than never, eh? Besides, Eddie said ya weren't gonna show up. But, I knew ya would!" Campbell exclaimed, prodding at him playfully. "Eddie also thought our relationship wouldn't work out!" Fergus reminded, shooting an accusing glance at Eddie. "I guess he approves now, eh?" Campbell whispered, grinning toothily as Eddie began to play their favorite tune- Footloose by Kenny Loggins. He flashed them a wide grin as they looked back at him. The duo lost no time in breaking into a crazy jig, getting lost in the dancing crowd but always finding their way back to each other.
