Chapter 5 - Escape

She was cute.

It was too bad I had to get rid of her.

I hadn't seen someone so deliciously awkward in such a long time. The way she folded her arms tight against her chest as Hoseok barked his orders. He was being so hard on her. So was Jungkook. I would have to thank them for that later. It made it much easier to do my job. The crueler they were to her here, the sooner she would come to my arms.

Then I'd make her leave.

"I want to leave," she whispered next to me.

Dang. Already? I hadn't even started my job yet.

"Do you?" I asked.

She nodded.

Excellent. Let the games begin.

I grabbed her hand, pulling her outside.

Let's remember what freedom tastes like, shall we, Little Princess?

I dragged her out to the gardens. She seemed struck by them. As she should have been. They were really beautiful here.

We talked as we walked in the gardens. She wasn't obnoxious, at least. Not like the other women I had the displeasure of meeting on the job. Some were decent, sure. But a lot of them had too much money to be normal.

Y/N was normal. It was nice for a change.

"I forgot how great this garden is," I said. "It really is the best of all the kingdoms."

"Do you travel a lot?" Y/N asked.

"Hoseok and I travel to many different kingdoms to teach royalty, CEOs, spoiled rich girls, and anyone in between."

"Sounds like an amazing job."

I frowned. "It pays the bills, I guess."

Some of them, anyways.

"You don't sound too thrilled." she said.

It's better than the life I was living before.

But I wasn't going to say that.

Being a pianist was a decent gig, but it didn't pay me a lot. Hoseok had a decent reputation, but mine was basically non-existent. People knew me because they knew Hoseok. I wanted my own reputation. My own fame.

But any fame I had was from my previous life. Not this one.

"I'd prefer something a little more exciting, maybe." I said to her.

"Yoongi!"

I heard my name and smirked. Speak of the devil. Hoseok was looking for me.

Y/N looked panicked. Was she afraid of getting caught?

Ha. Maybe I'd shake her up a bit more.

I wrapped a hand around her waist and put my hand over her mouth, pulling her back into the vineyard. She squirmed a bit, but trusted me more than I expected her to. I pulled her down into a hiding position among the vines.

"Wha err hew tooin?" she asked, my hand muffling her question.

I leaned into her ear. "Shhh. It's more fun this way."

I inhaled her scent as Hoseok and Taehyung scrambled to find us. Her skin was soft against my hand, her breathing shallow.

Focus, Yoongi.

When they had left, I let her go and sat back against the vines.

"That was fun," I said.

She raised an eyebrow at me. Then she laughed. A clear, innocent laugh that I couldn't help but smile at. The harder she laughed, the more I couldn't stop myself from joining her.

"I needed that," she said. "Thank you."

I smiled.

Yes... remember your previous life. And go back to it.

We parted ways, and I left the vineyard to wander around the castle.

I found a bench in the gardens and laid down, throwing my arm over my face.

Why did Jin want to get rid of Y/N? She was a harmless little thing.

Eh, whatever. It wasn't my business.

"Yoongi, you prick."

I turned to Hoseok's scrunched up face.

"Missed you too, Sir." I said, sitting up and pinching his cheek.

"Did you seriously just take the princess and run off?" he asked.

I shrugged.

"Do you ever think before you act?"

"I'm a natural genius. I don't have to think. I just act."

Hoseok growled. "Natural genius? You're a natural thorn in my side. You never show up on time, you're always sleeping, you run off with our clients... Oh, my head. You give me a headache. No, I think I'm having a stroke."

He rubbed his temple.

"Perk up, Buttercup." I said, squishing his face between my hands. "You have nothing to worry about."

"You're going to get us fired."

I let go of his face, laughing. I started to walk away. "We won't be going anywhere. I guarantee it."

~~~~~~~~
I threw up a peace sign as Jin opened the door.
"King Jin," I said. "You called?"
He allowed me into the parlor. I walked past him, heading straight for the bar.
"You're late," he said.
"Yeah, punctuality was never my thing." I said, pouring some whiskey.
I heard him sigh. "Should I trust with you this task, Yoongi?"
I swirled the liquor in the glass. "You have someone else you can hire?"
His eyes bore into me. "Don't make me regret this. If you break any of the rules..."
"I won't touch her," I said, throwing back the drink. "Except maybe in the fun ways."
I thought about the way she froze up when I put my arms around her and whispered in her ear. I smirked.
"What do you mean by that?" he asked.
"Hey, you wanted out of an arranged marriage." I replied, pouring myself another glass. "Just let me work with my own methods."
"I don't want her hurt, Yoongi. I just... don't want her here."
He scratched the back of his neck, eyes darting around the room. He was such a bundle of nerves. It was amazing that he was king. It made sense that he had to hire an asshole like me.
"So what you're saying is, I can't take her to bed with me?"
Jin's eyes shot over at me. I raised my eyebrows at him. The color drained from his face.
"You do that, and I swear to God, Min Yoongi –"
I laughed. "Don't worry. I don't want her dad coming after me. Calm down."
I threw back my second drink. He reacted more than I thought he would. I should have figured Jin would have some genuine feelings for the girl mixed in there.
I wonder if he had held her like I had.
"I slipped the note in her pocket, like you asked." I continued. "I have to say that it's a cute idea - these little threats and all - but it's not going to get the job done."
Jin sat on the couch across from me. "It's common for royals to get threats. I'm just giving her a taste of what to come."
"Not much of a sample," I replied. "You get hate mail, sure. But you also get death scares. Throw a little of that at her. She'll leave soon enough."
He shifted uncomfortably. He was silent. Was he thinking about backing out? I couldn't have that.
"I won't hurt her, Jin." I promised. I meant it. She was too adorkable to harm. "That was part of the bargain. I expect you'll keep your side of the deal?"
He looked at me, his face softening. "Of course. As long as no harm comes to her, your records will be cleaned, and I'll take care of your mother's restaurant."
I nodded. "Then let me take care of it, Your Majesty."
I put my glass on the counter before walking out of the room.
Sorry, Y/N. Nothing personal.
