She won't let me go

A.N This is so badly written sorry, I just wanted an update. Got a tiktok though hehehe, please try to vote and comment xoxoxo

"You have to leave while I'm asleep because if you wait till I wake up I don't think I'll be able to let you go" she sniffled holding him tightly in her arms.

"I'll write to you and I- I can call you" the boy whispered as he brushed his hand through Lexis hair comfortingly, closing his eyes as he heard her quiet cries, this was killing both of them.

"Tell me not to go" he spoke suddenly, pain in his eyes as he pulled away and looked at the girl he loved.

Lexi looked at him in confusion as he cupped her face, kissing her with an intensity she didn't know he had inside of him, the kiss was almost desperate as if he knew this would be the last time he'd get to hold her.

The girl kissed him back, frowning as she felt the boy's tears hit her face. She pulled away, reaching up to wipe his tears gently with her thumbs.

"If you tell me not to go then I have a reason to stay" he pleaded gently, he didn't want to go. Not at all.

Lexi shook her head "You know I'm not going to do that to you" she whispered, "you know I'm not going to stop you from following a dream you've had since we were babies".

"Cutie" Adam began softly but she put her hand up to stop him "You have to go" she whispered.

The next few days flew by and Adam had said some tearful goodbyes to his teammates, not before making sure they knew it wasn't goodbye for forever, he would return to them one day.

It was the morning of his flight as he held the sleeping Lexi in his arms tightly, he promised her he wouldn't wake her up, they hadn't even really said goodbye, they both knew it would hurt too much.

The couple had spent even more time together, if that was possible, attached to each other's sides, it would be easy to say that they could see each other all the time but they both knew with their conflicting schedules the chances would be very slim.

Tears dripped down Adam's face as he realised it would be time to go, he carefully slid out of bed, placing a final kiss on the girls head, his shaking hand brushing a strand of hair from her face as quiet snores erupted from her mouth.

He fixed his pillow before placing a kiss on her head again "I love you Lexi Conway" he whispered tearfully "My cutie".

The boy looked at her a final time before slowly exiting the room, heading towards the front door "Don't even try to leave without saying goodbye my love" a tired voice called stopping Adam in his tracks as he turned around.

The boy ran towards the teen, throwing his arms around them as he clung to them "I'm sorry, goodbyes are hard" Adam whispered.

Charlie smiled sadly "It's not goodbye, it's see you later" he spoke assuringly hugging Adam back "we're brothers man" he whispered.

"Whatever would I do without you my king?" Adam whispered softly, pulling away "Crash and burn" Charlie joked as both teens shared a tearful laugh.

Adam sent him a sad smile as he heard his parents start the car next door "I gotta go" he spoke sadly, opening the front door as Charlie nodded.

"I love you" Charlie smiled as Adam laughed softly "I love you too, my family" he whispered eyes looking at Charlie before drifting towards the staircase, making him shake his head sadly as he exited the house getting into his parent's car.

It had been about 30 minutes of Charlie bouncing his leg anxiously, he shook his head. It wasn't going to end like this, he wasn't going to let it.

Quickly the boy rushed upstairs, throwing Lexi's door open as the girl shot up slightly scared of the sudden noise.

"Get out bed we gotta go now" Charlie rushed out placing his shoes on and throwing random clothes at his sister.

"I can't. It's his dream, I'm not going to hold him back. He has worked his whole life for this. I have to let him go, we both know he'd do the same for me"  Lexi whispered.

Charlie shook his head frantically, he wasn't going to let his sister let her soulmate go so easily, he remembered all too well what had happened last time Adam Banks left Lexi Conway's life.

"There are other ways to get into the NHL, Eden hall has produced pro hockey players too, he doesn't have to go away" the boy rambled.

"Please for your sake and his sake stop him, I'll even drive you, we can go right now" Charlie pleaded attempting to drag the girl out of bed as he grabbed her feet, watching as she clung to the bed frame.

"When you care about somebody, you do what's best for them, even if it sucks for you" Lexi spoke firmly but sadly, shaking her head as Chalie pulled her out of bed.

Adams pillow hit the floor, making Charlie frown as he noticed the small letter that was sitting on her sheets.

"What's that?" he questioned, making Lexi follow his line of sight as she picked up the letter, written in Adam Banks handwriting was a final message, Lexi noticed the ink had run in certain spots, Adam had cried whilst writing it.

The girl cleared her throat, reading the letter quietly, allowing Charlie to hear as he sat down on her bed.

"My Cutie,

Goodbyes are hard but we seem to be having a lot of them lately. But you know it's love when you have been saying goodbye many times but still, you're not ready to leave. Truly Cutie, there are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.

I love you and I have loved you since the moment I was able to comprehend what love was, you had me at hello, goodbye and everything in between. I don't want to go, not even in the slightest which I guess is why I'm writing this letter. I know you'll read it and If you do I beg of you, please come for me. Please ask me to stay.

You told me it would be fine, that we'd write and that we'd talk on the phone but that's not enough, you're my soulmate and how could you expect me to pretend that I don't care about the fact I can't see you every day?

I can't see you, or hold you, or touch you and I find myself missing you before I've even left. I've waited months for us to find each other and It was painful but it didn't matter because you are the best thing I've ever waited for.

Hockey doesn't matter, not nearly as much as you but I know everyone wants me to do this. I can't do it without you. So please, stop me. Tell me to stay.  Please do not let me go, not again.

Please come to the airport and take me home. Because your arms feel more like home than any house I'll ever live in.

If you don't come, I understand. I know you want me to live out my dream but it's never going to be a dream truly fulfilled if you aren't beside me. If I don't see you I promise I'll write and I will return, as long as you are willing to have me.

Hope to see you soon.

Love Gorgeous xx

Lexi let out a shaky breath as she shook her head "that wasn't fair" she whispered to her brother, scrunching the letter up in slight frustration as she threw it across the room.

Charlie looked at her in confusion as he picked up the letter, unravelling it "he can't do that to me, he knows how hard it is for me to let him go, he can't keep asking me to make him stay because eventually I will" she spoke as her bottom lip quivered.

The boy placed an arm around her shoulder "Then stop him, if that's what you want stop him, because I'll be damned if I sit around and watch you drown again" Charlie spoke softly, clearing his throat at the memory resurfaced.

He often had nightmares, seeing the same scene of his sister lifeless in the bathtub, it killed him because it wasn't a dream, it had really happened.

Charlie often forced himself awake in the middle of the night, dragging his feet to his sister's room just so he could see her for himself, just so he could make sure she was okay.

"I can't stop him, I won't"  the girl whispered firmly, although it was paining her to do so.

"Alteast say Goodbye" Charlie pleaded softly, he knew this was breaking both Adam and Lexi

Meanwhile, Adam stood with his parents at the airport, he was waiting to board his flight, the call had come over the speaker, boarding closed in a few minutes but the teen was trying to stall.

He prayed Lexi found his note, that she had read it and was on her way to stop him, he prayed that it wouldn't end like this. He didn't want to go.

But she had never asked him to stay.

"If she loves me, she'll be here" Adam spoke to his mother, she knew he had written the note "If she loves me she won't let me go"

Anne let out a sad sigh "Adam, you know she loves you, but you also know Lexi would never stop you from living out your dream" the woman spoke softly.

The boy held his backpack in his hand, his grip tightening as he looked around the airport once more before turning his attention back towards his mother "I'll never be living out my dream if she's not beside me"

Anne sighed as Philip Banks walked over, a proud smile on his face as he placed a hand on Adam's shoulder "Let's go son" he spoke.

Adam shrugged his father's arm off of his shoulders, he resented the man. Philip had pushed him so hard to be perfect and in the process had damaged him beyond repair.

Anne smiled softly "I'll be there in a few days sweetie, I love you" she promised, kissing his head, the Banks had purchased a property near Adams school, keeping their house on Hennepin Avenue and deciding to travel between both locations whilst Adam lived on campus.

The boy nodded sadly, slinging his backpack on his shoulder "I love you too mom" he whispered, trailing after his father towards the gate.

Adam looked back once more as he boarded the plane, eyes saddening as he only saw his mother, she stood tearfully sending him a final wave.

The doors to the plane shut, Philip leading his son down the aisle, sitting contently in his seat as Adam buckled up sadly, eyes immediately looking out the window as he realised it was happening, he was going.

Minutes later Anne turned her attention to the window, watching as the plane raced down the runway taking off and taking Adam to his new life.

There was no Lexi Conway in sight, she hadn't come. Not even to say goodbye.

It was 5 minutes later and the plane had well and truly gone, Adam sitting next to his father looking at the picture of himself and Lexi that he kept in his wallet.

She never came to ask him to stay.

Anne began exiting the airport, her eyes drifted to the girl who rushed in through the opposite door. She watched as the teen raced towards the gate calling out for Adam. Pleading for him to still be here as she looked around.

The girl looked out the window and noticed the plane had taken off before letting out a quiet cry of pain as she slid to the floor, she tried to say goodbye. Really she did.

It was too late though.

Adam Banks was gone.
