37.

Y/n's p.o.v.

After running for a good amount of time, I turn and see only one more zombie following me.

The other one must've lost me at some point.

I need a break, I need to catch my breath.

So, I stop, breathing heavily.

But I grip my baseball bat tighter as the zombie gets closer.

It growls as it stretches its hands out to me, and I let out a deep breath, before swinging my bat at it.

I hit the zombie's side with the baseball bat, hearing a cracking sound, and it falls to the ground, continuing to snarl.

It grabbed my foot and pulled itself closer to my leg, trying to bite me.

"Shit" I yelp and kick its head with the foot it was holding onto.

The zombie lets go and with a lot of strength I let my baseball bat crash down and onto its head.

Blood immediately flows from its fresh wound.

I step away from the zombie as it twitches a bit before stopping to move at all.

I let out a breath of relief as I look around, scanning my surroundings.

Where am I?

I study the surrounding trees a bit more until I stop.

Wait.

I've been here before.

I turn around.

I'm very close to the construction site.

That's good.

There I can figure out what I should do next.

As I take a few steps into the direction where the construction site was going to be, I hear something rustle in the bushes on my right.

Gripping the baseball bat tighter, I get ready to fight whatever would come from there.

Suddenly a bird flies out of the bush, and after I jump from getting scared, the rustling is gone.

I relax a bit.

Calm down, Y/n. It was only a bird.

I straighten up a bit and continue walking when I suddenly get knocked down to the ground by something heavy.

I let out a scream as I turn around on the ground, now facing whatever had knocked me down.

My eyes widened when I saw the zombie over me.

It growled, spitting blood onto my face.

"Fuck!" I yell, grabbing it by its neck to keep it away from biting me.

The zombie must've been a boy before and to my 'luck' he was a lot heavier than I was.

Shit.

I look around for my baseball bat that I had dropped when the zombie had knocked me down.

There it is.

On the ground and smeared with dirt and blood.

It's pretty close, but I don't know if I can reach it.

My fear increases as I hold the zombie's neck with only one hand while I try to reach my baseball bat with the other.

My fingertips graze the bat, but it's not close enough for me to reach.

I start feeling beads of sweat form on my forehead as my heart continues beating rapidly.

Come on, Y/n.

You can do this.

You need to see Su-hyeok again.

Now I realize that I had made a mistake by leaving the others.

Even though Joon-yeong's death was my fault, I still should've stayed with them.

Anger for being so stupid boils up inside of me, and I start becoming annoyed by the situation I was in.

Oh god, Y/n. You really are useless.

And you can't even fight one zombie.

That's pathetic.

The voice inside of me continues insulting me, and I grow angrier.

I feel my strength coming back, wanting to get out of this situation I am in.

With this newfound strength, I pull my knees to my chest before kicking the zombie off of me with both legs.

As soon as it is off of me and lands on the ground with a thud, I grab the baseball bat and jump up from the ground.

Just in time, I thought.

Now the zombie was running towards me again, and I got ready to hit it with my bat.

But the zombie doesn't even reach me, because before I can even get close to hitting it, a figure jumps out from behind a tree.

He grabs the zombie and throws it to the ground before stomping on his head.

The zombie stops moving, and the figure turns around, so I can see his face.

My eyes widen.

"Gwi-nam"

He smirks and walks towards me as I glare at him.

"Why are you looking at me like that, princess? You should be glad I saved you" He says.

I roll my eyes.

"I didn't need your help" I tell him.

He chuckles and continues walking towards me.

When he's in front of me, he suddenly stops.

He furrows his eyebrows, as if he heard something.

"Shit" He mutters.

"Some zombies must've heard us. They're going to be here soon"

He grabs my hand and I notice that he is covered in blood.

"Come on, we have to go" He tells me.

Then he starts running and pulls me after him as we continue our way towards the construction site.

Soon I can see it in the distance, but Gwi-nam stops again and listens.

"I don't think they're following us anymore" He states after a few seconds.

Then he puts both of his hands on my shoulders.

He looks down at me, and it seems as if his evil demeanor had completely changed.

He was actually smiling at me.

It would have actually made me feel better, if his lips weren't covered in blood.

I raised my eyebrows.

"Gwi-nam, what do you want? Why are you after us?" I ask him, my voice very serious.

He sighs, biting his lip.

Then his eyes widen a bit.

He must've tasted the blood on his lips.

He quickly wipes his mouth with his sleeve, removing the majority of the blood, but also smearing it a bit.

Then his eyes meet mine and I take a step back, away from him, making him let go of me.

"You haven't noticed? Fuck, Y/n, I really like you, okay?"

"You...what?" I ask, not believing his words.

"I do, okay?!" He grabs me by my shoulders again, his grip tight.

I don't know what to say.

"I thought you hated me. Didn't you want to kill Cheong-san and I?" I ask after a few seconds.

"No. I never wanted to kill you... but I want what Cheong-san took from me."

Then he points to his hurt eye.

"You really want Cheong-san's eyes?!" I ask, in shock from his words.

"Why do you want to talk about Cheong-san again?! Let's talk about us"

He smirks again.

My heart starts beating quicker, but not from blushing or anything.

I was scared.

I know he's very strong.

After all, he's half zombie.

Pressing my lips together, I know that I should do what he told me.

My gut feeling was telling me, that he'd probably otherwise kill me or turn me into a half zombie, too.

He stepped even closer to me now, and I start shivering when his hand touches my cheek, caressing it.

He smiles down at me.

"I really want to finally kiss you" He says.

No.

Please no.

I couldn't do that to Su-hyeok.

As he leans down, his face slowly comes closer to mine.

Right before he's able to kiss me, I stop him.

"Gwi-nam." I say, putting my hand on his chest, pushing him away a bit.

He raises an eyebrow, waiting for me to continue.

"This is not the right time" I say.

"Zombies could come any minute"

He narrows his eyes at me.

"So what?" He asks.

"I'm a god here. I could kill every single one of them. So it doesn't matter"

He leans closer to me again, but I push him away harder.

"Gwi-nam... I..." I start.

He grins humorlessly.

"Ah. How could I forget? You're with that bastard, aren't you? Su-hyeok, huh?"

I look at the ground, scared of what he'd do next.

Now I really know that all of his sincerity was gone.

He was starting to act like a psycho again.

"Look at me when I'm talking to you" He grabs my chin roughly, making me look at him.

I can see bloodlust in his eyes.

He starts laughing when he sees the fear in my eyes.

Then he abruptly stops.

"I'll kill him"

"Gwi-nam, no"

"And you'll be mine, Y/n."

Then he shoves me against a tree and after a few seconds, I feel his lips on mine.

I try pushing him away again, but he's much too strong.

I squirm, trying to get away from him.

"Stop it" I say, my voice muffled.

Then he slowly lets go of me, licking his lips.

"Oh come on, I know you like me too. It's really cle-"

Gwi-nam is cut off by a loud snarling from behind him.

There, a group of zombies breaks through the bushes, and my eyes widen.

Gwi-nam looks slightly shocked too.

When the zombies see the two of us, they growl and start running towards us.

"Fuck" I hear Gwi-nam mutter.

Then he pushes me behind him, knowing the zombies were only after me.

"Run, I'll distract them." he tells me, and I don't think twice and start sprinting towards the construction site.
