Cartoon Beatles Designs

Seeing as I've already done a redesign, and because no one asked for this, I also figured I'd tackle that old Beatles cartoon. Admittedly, I haven't seen it, so I'm not going to comment too much on it, though I absolutely loathed John's and George's voices and I heard George Harrison basically said the cartoon was so bad it was funny.

Basically, what I tried to do here was to include a mix of both their real life personalities and the flanderized personas of A Hard Day's Night (which is basically what the cartoon did)

Just know if I have two weaknesses, it's anatomy and character design.

Starting with my favorite Beatle, John Lennon. Given that he's the perceived leader of the Beatles, that was the main thing I wanted to convey with this drawing. In addition, he has red-brown hair, much like he did in real life. In terms of personality, I'd imagine that John has a mischievous streak a mile wide and is sometimes prone to anger, but at the end of the day, he really does care for his friends.

Moving on to Paul, now. The main thing I kept in mind at the time I was drawing this was that Paul was the last to leave, so I kinda emphasized his title of being the Cute One, but also showed that he is very loyal to the band. Paul is prone to stage fright, can be quite vain, and has a perfectionist streak a mile wide, but does know how to accept things as they come, and he, like John, cares very much for the band, and the people he cares about.

Up next is George! As so many others have done, his nature as the shy, quiet one is played up in this drawing, given that he's the most reserved of the five I drew and is also the only one not smiling. George can have a short temper, and he's doesn't talk nearly as much as John and Paul, but he's also the most introspective of the Fab Four, and also has a great sense of humor.

And now for Ringo! He somehow came across as both shy and kinda reserved in this drawing, though if I were to redraw this, I'd want to play up his title as the funny one. Ringo is usually the first to try and offer emotional support if the others start fighting, but there are days where he can be exceptionally moody.

And last but not least is Brian! I must admit, I didn't know a whole lot about him at the time, so the trait that ends up coming across most in this drawing is his charisma. Brian can be a bit theatrical and prone to anxiety (thanks in part due to some past traumas), but he is usually the first the others turn to for advice and he is very charismatic despite the anxiety. He is easily one of the people who has the most faith in the Beatles, given all the efforts he went through to try and get them a record deal.

So, needless to say, those are the five sketches I've done so far. I might go back and do more, I might redraw these someday, but we'll have to see, given that I'm going back to college soon.

Anyways, stay inspired  (not my quote but I couldn't think of a better way to leave this off)
