Chapter 24

Techno stood outside the school gates, not ready to face the day. Seeing Dream again after having that conversation with Wilbur? Techno, the Blade, asking DREAM to the dance? Just the thought of it made the pinkette's head fog up with multiple thoughts.

"Tech?" A voice suddenly said, interrupting his train of thought.

The pinkette turned to see Wilbur staring at him with slight concern. "You okay, lil' bro?"

Techno opened his mouth to say something, but he ended up closing it. He simply nodded. "I'm alright," was all he said, still nervously looking at the school.

"Well I see Fundy up ahead," Wilbur said, following Techno's gaze up the school. "I'll get going, oh, and remember," The brunette turned around, a wide grin on his face. He began to wave five ten-dollar bills as if it were a fan, the same bills Techno threw at him the night before.

That sly bast-

"Tech!" A new voice said behind him.

Techno turned around only to be greeted with something slamming into his chest. Luckily, he didn't fall backward and stumble over. He looked down to see dirty blond hair underneath him when he looked down.

"Smiles?"

"Ding ding ding!" The blond said cheerfully, looking up at the other. Dream wore his cracked-up mask as he did every other day, but it could be easily seen that the blond was smiling brightly. Disappointment crawled into Techno's thoughts, that same damned mask that covered up his beautiful green scales and emerald green eyes.

Dream tilted his head in confusion, after a good moment of silence, "I get I'm a hottie, but you okay? You've been spacing out a ton, even though that's what you seem to do all the time you main character," the blond snorted, letting go of Techno to take a step back.

"Just got some stuff on my mind," the other answered, missing the warmth he got from the blond when the other took a step back.

"You always got something on your mind, what's that supposed to mean?" the blond scowled. "Forget it, let's get to class, wouldn't want Mr. Schlatt giving us an earful." the blond eventually said with a shrug. Dream turned around and began to walk into the school building, Techno following shortly behind him.

All you have to do is ask.

The day wasn't going as fast as Techno hoped, the thought of asking Dream turned his stomach inside and out again. He couldn't focus on classes and even struggled to read a single page without the damned thought interrupting him. And it didn't help at the fact that Wilbur continued to show off the money every chance the spirit could get.

Techno immediately began to gather his things when he heard the lunch bell, quickly getting up in want to get something- or someone to distract him from the thought.

"Soo Pinky! I heard you're askin' Dreamy out to the dance..?!"

Techno jerked his head up to see Sapnap, the panda had a wide grin on his face. The pinkette looked around in a small panic, "Keep your voice down, jackass," he said bitterly.

Sapnap threw his hands up into the air, "And you keep your cool, I was just askin'," he said, "So, are you gonna ask him? Wilbur told me you were," He grinned.

Techno scowled, of course that bastard told you. "And what if I am? Is there a problem with that, panda?" he snapped, glaring at the other.

Sapnap let out a huff, "Jesus dude! Calm yourself, I'm only here to cheer you on, If anything I'm on your side,"

"There aren't any sides to this,"

"Come on man! All I'm saying is, ask Dream out on the night of the dance, and we're all rootin' for ya!"

The pinkette stared at the other, puzzled. Eventually he waved him off, cueing Sapnap to take his leave.

Thursday, the night before the dance.

Techno was walking to his 2nd class, his mind burred with multiple thoughts at once. The week had gone by too quickly for the hoglin's liking, unsure if what to do about the dance situation.

What if it was too late to ask Dream? Should he just coward out? But..when will he get a chance like this in the future?

Techno's thoughts went on and on, that is until someone broke his endless train of thoughts.

"Techy! Tech come back to reality!"

The pinkette jerked his head up to see a dirty blond boy following beside him as he walked the hall.

"Geez you're like a robot with that blank stare of yours!" Dream laughed.

"Sorry, just got a bit on my mind," he mumbled.

"Is something up? I mean, if you're down to talk about it that is," Dream's tone shifted into one of concern.

"Nah, stop worrying about me Dreamy or I'll assume you're in love with me," he half jokingly said.

Underneath Dream's mask, his face turned into a deep shade of red. The blonde being glad that his mask was over his face. Dream then cleared his throat, "Anyway, you going to the dance?"

"Are you?"

"I might as well, if you come we could wreck the place together!" He snickered.

"I'm thinking about it, though it's probably going to be a 'yes',"

"Great! Well, I'd be expecting you there then, wouldn't want to be some kind of 3rd wheel with Karl and Sapnap," Dream sighed.

"And I don't want to be left 3rd wheelin' Niki and Wilbur.." the pinkette chuckled.

"Then we could be 3rd wheeling these dates together? Sounds great!"

"..You're a fucking dork."

"And yet you're still here."

Friday, after school, the day of the dance.

Techno was looking in the mirror, tightening his corset that Wilbur practically begged him to wear to this dance. The vague thought of regret came to the pinkette, should he just ditch this entire plan and stay home?

Just go with it, he thought. No biggie, just go with it and it'll be fine.

After tidying up, Techno came out of his room, shutting it close before walking over to his, now occupied, bathroom.

"Wilbur we've got an hour until we got to get to the school. And we've gotta pick Niki up, so hurry up in there!" Techno yelled outside of the bathroom door.

"I can't and you know that of all people! I've gotta look fresh for Niki and you know that! Are you done getting?"

"I just finished, I wore that wretched corset you gave me, now are you at least almost done in there?" Techno asked impatiently.

"Almost, just need to fluff up my hair and I'll be done," Wilbur responded.

Techno let out a groan before giving up, walking away. He made his way over to the kitchen, grabbing himself a glass of water as he waited for Wilbur.

"So, Techno, are you going to make it official?" A voice asked.

In immediate response, Techno choked on the water, quickly spitting it out to turn to who asked that.
In the corner of the kitchen, was Phil, holding a mug of coffee with a pleasant smile on his face.

"I'll take that as a yes," The crow said, taking a long sip out of his cup.

Techno opened his mouth to say something, but before he could, Wilbur came running through the door. "I'm ready!" The ghost called.
Wilbur grabbed a set of keys from the silver dish that rested on the counter, pushing Techno out the kitchen to the front door.

"Alright! See you Dadza! We'll be back soon!" Wilbur called, pushing Techno out of the door and to the car.

"You nervous little bro?" Wilbur asked, starting up the car with Techno in the passenger seat.

No response came out of the pinkette, resulting with a laugh from the spirit. "Don't worry, the dance will go smoothly, I promise." Wilbur said, the car started up and Wilbur backed out of the driveway, making his way to the school.
