little dipper

IT WAS A WARM, SPRING FRIDAY NIGHT, tomorrow marking y/n's third week in the neighborhood. Bakugo hadn't spoken with y/n since Sunday morning, and hadn't had the chance to bring up that one night to her again, as he was busy with school and training, and y/n was always gone at gigs for her band.

Though y/n was quite the handful to Bakugo, their friendship nearly forced by the girl, she was starting to become tolerable to him, to say the least.

But after the many conversations they've had and things they have gone through, Bakugo only knew a few things about her.

1. She's a witch.

2. She's useful to use when you need a ride.

3. Can be petty, childish, and flirtatious all in one. What a package deal.

4. Plays electric guitar and sings for a band.

5. Has a cat and a snake.

And that was really it. He didn't know anything else about her personal background. And after what went down Saturday evening, he wanted to get answers.

Bakugo was doing his normal, pre-weekend routine; studying at his desk, when he noticed y/n climb out of her window, holding a few blankets.

"What the fuck?" He whispered, watching the girls toss the cloths onto the top of his roof. He stood out of his chair and opened his window, leaning outside. "What the hell are you doing, throwing shit onto my house?"

Y/n, who looked like she was about to jump down from her window, turned to him with a guilty expression. "Oooooohhhhh...hey!"

"Answer the question, Goldilocks."

"Goldilocks—Ahhhh haha, because of my locs! What a clever nickname!-"

"Stop stalling!"

"I'm just doing what I always do almost every night; stargazing from your roof!"

"...What?"

"Unlike my house, you have a flat roof, perfect to use when I just wanna look up at the sky....Wanna come with me?"

Bakugo pressed his lips together, turning to his desk with the piles of homework. "...I don't have time for looking at balls of gas."

"Come on, Baku! It'll be fun! It's like, suuuuper relaxing." Y/n waved for him to come outside, inching closer to the edge of her window.

"Hold on, what are you-"

"Jumping down, with no cost. Make the landing, nice and soft." Y/n pointed to the ground, before pushing herself out the window of her two story home.

"Y/N!-"

Suddenly, y/n hit the ground using her back, bouncing back up as if the ground turned into a trampoline. She giggled as she soared through the air, landing back onto her feet as the grass returned to normal.

She looked up at Bakugo, giving him a thumbs up. "I'm a witch, remember? See you on the roof!"

Y/n laid on her back as she gazed up at the night, Bakugo leaning on his elbows and tilting his head back at the star filled sky. "...This is really lame."

"You think it's lame because we aren't doing anything."

"Well no shit. We're looking at tiny ass dots."

"Quit your whining." She sighed, placing the palms her hands against the back of her head. "If you wanna leave, you can. This is your house."

Bakugo turned to her, y/n too busy immersing herself into the galaxy beyond.

His eyes shifted down to her right hand. "...Do you really like stars?"

"Hm?" Y/n turned to him, following his eyes to her constellation tattoo that was drawn on the back of her hand. She lifted her hand over her head, smiling quietly at the body art. "Yeah...I find outer space kinda cool. The universe is like a vast ocean, and we're the fish.."

"...Why?"

"Why do I like the stars? Why do you ask that like liking the universe is weird?"

"Because it fucking is. There's nothing out there."

"That's the opposite, Bakugo." She smirked, her hand falling back onto her stomach. "There's so much out there, and we know little to nothing about it. That's what's so fascinating."

Y/n sat up from her blanket, scooching to her right so she was sitting behind Bakugo. "Look up at the sky, Bakugo." She whispered, her soft voice making his heart jump.

"...Why?" He rasped, peering over his shoulder to the girl.

"Just do it."

He took in a deep breath, turning back around and tilting his head back. Y/n set her arms over his shoulders, creating a square by forming L's with her fingers from both hands.

She adjusted the frame over his eyes, bringing her head close to his ear. "How much of the sky do you see when you look through my fingers?" She whispered, her breath ghost against the side of his face.

He felt her body heat radiate off of her, as she was nearly pressed up against his back, and her honeyed voice blanketed his left ear as she muttered quietly into it. And her scent...it was the same alluring scent of spicy cinnamon.

He couldn't lie...

he was starting to relax around her.

He didn't really feel pressured to act his best, or establish his greatness around her.

"...Barely any of it, moron. You made the square so small." He whispered back, his body leaning backwards and into y/n's chest like metal to a magnet.

"Exactly...This is how much of outer space we know about." She dropped her hands, them returning to her side. "Now look at the sky. How much do you see?"

"...A lot of it."

"And that...is how much of outer space we don't know about."

Bakugo turned behind him to y/n, her returning to his side and sitting in her knees, smiling happily at him. "I think it's cool just thinking about how much is left to explore out there, I dunno." She shrugged, falling forward and onto her stomach, rolling onto her back.

Bakugo furrowed his brows at her. "...You're a real fucking geek for a girl covered in tats."

"Don't hate on my love for the universe!" She pouted, slapping his thigh. "Anyway, how was school for you this week? U.A must be hard, right?"

"No, the fuck? I'm smart, strong, and amazing. Everything is a breeze for me." He leaned back onto his elbows, stretching his left leg flat in front of him and bringing his right leg up to him.

Y/n rolled her eyes. "Are you really all that? I mean, yeah, your performance at the sports fest was great and all, but your attitude-"

"Fuck off." Bakugo flipped her off, y/n playfully hitting his hand away. "Oh, whatever." She laughed, covering her mouth with her hand.

Bakugo felt himself start to grin too, but it quickly went away after he noticed something. "...Why do you always cover your mouth when you laugh?"

Y/n stopped chuckling, raising her eyebrow as she dropped her hand from her face. "Huh? What do you mean?"

"When you laugh, dumbass. You hide it. Why?"

"Oh....I don't really know, I don't really like my smile when I laugh. Habit."

Bakugo gave a confused, and slightly annoyed look. "But you smile just fine to me."

"A regular smile, and a laughing smile are two different smiles. You probably don't have to worry about it, because you don't laugh."

"What the f-YES I DO!"

"When was the last time you laughed? Besides when you were on laughing gas Saturday. Except that laugh sounded more like you wanted to murder someone."

"Wha-Anyway, I laugh all the time! Just not around you, because you aren't funny."

"...Yeah, okay."

"Seriously! Tell me a joke! Right now. See if I fucking laugh."

"I don't need to."

"...What?"

"I don't need to tell a joke."

"And why the hell not?"

"Because you are the joke."

"...Start running. Now."
