[26] lost puzzle piece

"I'm Aisha's cousin."

Live fast, die young, bad girls do it well.

A girl walked towards Hyunjun, in a yellow gingham-patterned and puffy sleeved dress, and sported white leather high-heeled boots. She entered the cafe, and sat on the seat opposite him. She had a disgruntled look, implying that he wasn't a sight for sore eyes.

"What do you want, Heo Hyunjun. I appreciate the fact that you came from Singapore, but I am busy today. Plus, I know this is gonna become another episode of you lecturing about the same thing you told me over the phone a week ago. So, if you're gonna go talking about how I should stop being friends with them, and I should flee the country, then I will leave," Aisha scowled.

"You already know. This is my last warning. Something will happen soon, and it might, no, it will affect you," Hyunjun leaned back on the chair, arms folded.

"So what? They're my friends, and I am not leaving them. For all I know, I have been living on borrowed time since young. They'll come for me even if I run. I'm tired of running." Aisha got off from her seat and collected her drink from the counter, heels of her boots clunking as she walked away.

The girls' jaws dropped after hearing Hyunjun's words. "Being an agent myself, and her best friends who are also one, she was already at risk. She didn't want to run away anymore. Cheng Xiao persuaded her to leave, but she was too stubborn. I guess she already knew that the enemies of both sides would come for her soon," He said, sighing. "She was too tired of running, after that incident."

"What incident?"

"Isa, remember, in the first year, when she was not in school for a month?" Isa nodded at the question. "Her mother was killed by a group long ago before I was tasked to hunt them down. Her father was told to flee to New Zealand temporarily, and Aisha would follow me to Macau. They continued following us and there were times when I was unable to attack them, so we fled to multiple countries, and eventually, I finally managed to hunt them down. She was very strong mentally, she continued to stay strong when the group was close to attacking us," Hyunjun recalled, sighing again.

"So, I decided to help you hunt down Stray Kids. It seems to be the only justifiable thing to do."

"Thank you for taking the time to talk to us, but I think that it's time to go," Isa said, and the girls stood up. As they stood up and walked towards the door, Hyunjun placed a file on the coffee table. Yeeun glanced at it and the name on the file caught her eye.

"Seeun?"

Hyunjun gestured for Yeeun to take it. She took the file quietly and flipped its contents. Every page slowly made her eyes wider.

"Guys? I think y'all might wanna see this, especially Seeun."

The aforementioned walked to Yeeun and took the file. When she opened the file, she saw a profile of herself. She read through the profile.

"Memory loss due to car accident?"

The other girls ran to her and flipped through the file. On the next page, there was another profile. It was a profile of Wonwoo.

"Relationship to Seeun; brother?"

"I found this file when I was rummaging through my late mother's study," Hyunjun said, turning to see the girls. "I was also rather surprised when I saw that Sieun's brother is Wonwoo. He was my classmate when we were in middle school. I was in the States, that time. He was adopted by a family with the surname Jeon there, while you, Seeun, kept with your biological parents' surname."

"Come on, let's go!" Wonwoo said, signalling Seeun to get into the car seat. She climbed into the car and crawled onto the child seat. The older brother fastened the seatbelt of her child seat before fastening his seat belt.

"Seeun, are you hungry?" The little girl nodded, and Wonwoo took out a box. He opened the box and let her pick a butter cookie. She grabbed a pretzel-shaped butter cookie with her tiny hands, eating it happily. Wonwoo grinned and patted her head, before putting the box back into his bag. When Seeun finished her cookie, she quietly looked out of the window, while Wonwoo watched his father drive.

Suddenly, his father honked the car frantically, and the car skidded away and off the rocky cliff from the car that was driving in the opposite direction. Sieun's mother held onto Wonwoo and Sieun as the car flipped down the cliff, windows shattering. When they landed on the bottom, Wonwoo was the only one conscious, but his cheek and forehead was cut and bleeding. His leg was bleeding as well. He turned to look at his parents, who had major injuries on the head.

"Mom, Dad?" He checked their pulse, but a weak one could only be detected. He turned to check his little sister. Her head had a cut, and she was unconscious. Wonwoo forced himself out of the car and saw an ambulance driving as close as they could to the car.

"Nurse, how are my parents? And my sister, how is she?" The nurse remained silent, changing the dressing for the wound on his leg. "How are my parents?" He asked again. The nurse quietly replied, "They have moved on." Wonwoo wiped stray tears away with the back of his hand. "What about my sister?"

"She's doing fine, but the doctor suspects that she lost a part of her memories." The nurse ruffled his hair, before walking out of the room.

The boy cried all night that day.

"Is there any way that Seeun can be sent to the same orphanage as mine?"

"Unfortunately, no."

As soon as Wonwoo finished packing up the only things he had, he ran to Seeun's ward. When he reached there, she was still resting. He caressed her soft black hair, tears slowly falling down. He would really miss his sister.

"I hope that I will be able to find you when we grow up. Stay happy, my dear sister."

The three girls sat in Dami's car in silence, while the car rode through the afternoon. Seeun turned to the back of the file to see a stack of photos in a Ziploc bag. She opened the bag and looked at the photos of her and Wonwoo together. One depicted a scene of hide-and-seek, and another showed a scene of Seeun hitting Wonwoo with a toy hammer. She smiled at the pictures fondly, trying to remember what happened in the pictures.

Isa looked through the contents of the file until she found the thing she needed. "The Mavericks' headquarter is hidden in the jungle of buildings in Dubai. We have to find them there." Sumin nodded. She opened the case that contained the bug and the laptop and checked to see if everything was in place. As the car reached the drop-off point of the airport, the girls got off the cars and bid their goodbyes. "Visit us if you can," Dami said, before driving off, Chan following her in his car.

The girls walked out of the lift, and to their apartment. When everyone but Seeun went into the foyer of their house, Seeun stood outside, looking at the neighbouring house.

"Well, if you want to find Wonwoo, go on," Isa said, smiling. Seeun nodded and took a few steps to the door. She mustered her courage and knocked on the door. The door opened, revealing Jihoon.

"Yes?" He asked, taking off his headphones.

"I want to see Wonwoo." Jihoon smiled and let her in. She sat on the couch, looking at the moving boxes stacked at one side. Wonwoo walked out from one of the doors and as soon as Seeun saw him, she ran towards him, and hugged him.

"I remember it now" Wonwoo froze, before hugging her back.

"I missed you, my dear sister. You had no idea how I felt when I saw you that day."
