Good News and Good Toons

*Mike's pov. It's been five days, Mike hasn't been released from the hospital yet.*

Mike felt like he was going to explode with happiness. It was frustrating for Nancy to make him wait to share the news, but he understood why- it was pretty early on and she wanted to wait until he was out of the hospital. His ventilator had been removed three days after the rescue, and now he just had an oxygen mask. It hurt to take a deep breath but Mike's lungs were feeling so much better, not so damp and ragged like they had during his imprisonment.

In the hospital they had put metal rods in his broken leg, and they warned him that the infection was contained but not completely gone. It felt stiff and irritatingly itchy. Mike hadn't slept as well as he would have liked- he kept having nightmares, so he wasn't healing quite as fast as he could have been, but still at a pretty good speed. Now he was sitting up on his own and could eat a little bit.

Other than the good news, the hospital was so boring. Nothing to do except watch tv or read between visits from Nancy and his friends. He couldn't wait to leave this joint behind for good and go back home with Nancy where he belonged.

*******Time skipa-doodle woop woop naaaa**********

Nancy had organized a small party at her and Mike's apartment to celebrate his release from the hospital and share their exciting secret. Mike was extremely nervous, unable to stop fidgeting or shifting his cast-wrapped leg from the couch in front of him to the floor and back again. Then the doorbell rang. Nancy opened it to greet all of their friends, who flooded in with squeals of joy when they saw Mike- he hadn't told them that he had been released yet so they were all pleasantly surprised.

Partway into the party, Nancy called everyone together on the couches near Mike and herself. "Nancy and I have got some exciting news to share, as she told you when the party started." Everyone nodded. "Well spit it out! We've been waiting ages, Nancy has been dropping so many hints!" Mina burst out, before covering her mouth and turning lightly pink. The friends laughed a little and Mike dismissed her mumbled apologies with a grin. So Nancy told the other animals, "Mike and I are engaged!" she was going to continue but the cheers and hugs stopped her for a moment, then Mike shouted over the noise, "And we're having a kid!" Shocked grins from everyone, along with more hugging and squealing, ensued. The party wrapped up late that night, with all of the friends feeling tired and happy.

Epilogue: Everyone lives happy forever because I can't stand giving my babies any more heartbreak dangit. Mike and Nancy have a daughter and everyone practically explodes from her adorableness.
