Dance With Death

*Rosita's pov*

Rosita's gaze swept the dance area, checking on each of her friends in turn. Buster and Eddie were fine, Johnny and Ash were fine, Gunter was fine... Where was Nancy? Oh, over there at the bar next to- Oh no. Rosita felt panic rise in her throat as the others slowly became aware. The mother pig noted Nancy's flashing eyes and tense posture, but the pretty mouse didn't move, her gaze fixated on Fang. Johnny motioned to the others to subtly take seats around the crime boss, not close enough to be conspicuous, but close enough to take action if necessary.

Rosita watched as Fang leaned across the bar table and spoke something to the barista, his mouth curling in a cruel grin. The barista, a curvy skunk with brown eyes, stared at the floor as she answered him, fumbling with something behind the bar edge. Rosita thought that she was just making Fang a drink, but Johnny looked excited and motioned to his friends, holding a finger to his lips.

Fang fluidly slid off his bar stool and melted into the shadows to the left of it, into a deep enclave with no clubbers in it- they tended to stick to the loud music and strobe lights. Johnny and the others followed him unobtrusively. Fang went deeper into the darkness by the bar, which turned out to lead to a bathroom area, obscured from being immediately obvious because the small ceiling bulb was burned out. Rosita's heart sank as Fang started to head towards the mens, but at the last moment he headed for the door labeled "Cleaning Supplies, Staff Only".

Fang suddenly whipped his head around. The others arranged themselves around the door, leaning against the walls and wandering towards the bathrooms. As soon as he turned his head, they all started following him again. Fang disappeared into the "cleaning supplies" room, and Johnny beckoned the group close. "Right guys. I have a feeling this room is used for more than storing chemicals. On my count, I'm going to open the door and we'll check it out." Nancy looked scared out of her mind, but very determined, mirroring the emotions of the whole group.

Johnny opened the door in one swift motion, only to find that it was empty. Where's Fang? Rosita thought. Johnny tiptoed into the little closet and shuffled items around, calling everyone forward excitedly after a couple seconds. Rosita peered over his shoulder and saw what it was; a black lock, huge and ancient. Buster was jumping around at the back of the crowd, unable to see until Eddie put him up on his shoulder like a little kid.

Johnny's excitement quickly faded though. "I forgot my lock picks" he said after feeling through his pockets. Everyone looked disappointed, especially Nancy. Rosita put a hand on her shoulder. Then, Buster scrambled off of Eddie and elbowed to the front, digging in his suit pocket and producing a handful of hairpins. "I used to do this all the time as a kid, it was so much fun to see what I could unlock. I haven't done it in quite a while but I think I remember.." He bent over the lock and had it open in under five minutes. "Somehow I didn't expect this Mr. Moon, but nice skill." said Johnny with a smile. "Yeah well, it comes in handy. That was pretty slow anyway, I used to do it in seconds."

Eddie whispered something in Buster's ear and grabbed his hand as the door swung open. Nancy dashed to the front of their group as they looked in on the dark hallway. Everyone balked a little, but Nancy jerked her bag farther up her shoulder and walked in, so they followed her. There were many dips and alcoves off the main hall, and when Nancy's ear twitched a warning from the front they ducked into one of these. "You were fun, but I think I'm getting bored now. Not that you've been trouble...did you know that nobody has even been looking? Nobody cares about one tiny little jerk of a rat. Hahaha at least it'll be over soon for ya, you haven't looked good since day one. Nighty-night little loser." Fang started walking, his footsteps getting closer and closer... Rosita stepped forward before she could think about how stupid this was and pulled out her night stick, slamming it down on Fang's head, over and over. She didn't realize what she was doing until Gunter and Johnny pulled her off. The things he had said were just awful, and she couldn't bring herself to feel bad when she saw the damage. Johnny duct taped him to the wall (Buster also produced this, sketchy Buster comes in handy) and they ran down the hall.

Nancy had ran ahead, and before they even entered they could hear her sobbing. Rosita's heart filled with ice as she thought of what could possibly be around the corner in front of her...
