Sherlock's Fit

Sherlock said nothing to John as they hailed a taxi and started off to meet their suspect. The former army doctor could tell by the way he held himself that Sherlock was mildly agitated. Sherlock had not been tricked by many people in his lifetime, so naturally he was upset to have been played by Susanna. Even if it was clever.

"Why are you so upset about it?" John asked. Sherlock pursed his lips, eyes trained on his phone.

"She could have easily obstructed the case, John."

"But she didn't."

"She tricked me!" Sherlock huffed.

"She didn't to it to be mean, Sherlock. She isn't accustomed to you taking her mobile just to text random numbers yet!" John thought out his next sentence, "She has several brothers and has probably had issues with them taking her mobile before. She even told me that it was a knee-jerk response."

Sherlock grunted, "She is an avid prankster, John, especially with her brothers. She could easily destroy my work all in the name of her knee-jerk response!"

"Sherlock, just admit that she did something clever," John lectured, "We are not going to have you upset with her for being smart enough to play along with you! How come you could handle Irene Adler's cleverness better than Susanna?!"

Sherlock refused to reply to his best friend, instead burying his nose in his mobile.

~>Later that Night<~

"What is the title for this one going to be?" Sherlock asked as the duo raced up the stairs to 221B. John shook his head, smiling.

"No idea, Sherlock," They bounded into the living room and found Susanna on the couch, typing quickly on her laptop, "Hello, Susanna." She looked up and immediately stood, setting her computer on the couch.

"Hello, John. I put Rosie down for the night. I was just recording today's notes on my PC," She greeted John warmly and then walked over to Sherlock. He looked down at her with darkened eyes but she stood perfectly straight despite her stature, "I apologize for obstructing your case earlier today, Sherlock."

John's mouth fell open. He had never seen anyone apologize to Sherlock for playing him. Ever. The consulting detective himself looked as if he had been shot. He stared at Susanna with a completely deadpan expression. After a full minute she decided to back away and approach John, motioning to her PC, "What?"

"I made several baseline observations today that I would like to discuss with you, if you wouldn't mind."

"It's late. Shouldn't you be heading back to your flat?"

"It's fine. It won't take long." John looked back at Sherlock who was glued to the floor.

"Alright." She smiled and picked up the computer, holding it up for them to see.

"These observations were made on Rosie's patterns, response to stimuli and habits. These will help us in the future to recognize changes, positive or negative, in her health and development," She highlighted a particular comment, "Have you been reading to Rosie at night or singing to her?" John blanched.

"Well.. I've tried my best to keep up with the reading. I'm not one to sing though." He confessed, steeling himself for a lecture.

"That's fine if you don't sing, John. But you should try to read with her often. I've got some sensory books that I'll bring by tomorrow. Reading does calm her down and she enjoys it, so it would be beneficial to enforce a regular schedule," She softened her voice, "It will take hard work and patience but I am here to help you, okay?"

"Okay. Anything else?" John let the feeling of dread subside. Susanna nodded.

"Yes. I do believe that Rosie will be walking soon. That is a major milestone in her development, which also comes with complications. When she is mobile then it is crucial to make sure that she cannot get into things or won't pick stuff up off the floor," She took a breath, "Rosie should also start articulating small words. She is doing very well imitating sounds. Other than those points, I don't have anything else critical to discuss. I will email this to you and Sherlock."

John nodded, "Thank you, Susanna." She smiled, emailed the file and then packed the PC away.

"Did you solve the case?"

"Yes. Despite your trick." Sherlock butted in. His voice wasn't completely cold, but he was still upset about it. Susanna nodded and picked up her bag.

"I'm glad you were able to solve it so quickly," She hummed, "Well then, if you would then I should be getting home."

"Oh yes of course," John handed her her bike jacket and she put it on, zipping it up all the way. He accompanied her downstairs to the door, where she grabbed her helmet and gloves and secured her pack, "Thank you, Susanna." She smiled warmly.

"You're welcome, John."

"Stay safe on the streets." She nodded.

"Always," She stepped out, "See you tomorrow, John!"
