Chapter 2 strange

I kept my hand in the bag for a while. They felt cold and had grabbed nothing. Nothing. I slowly pulled my hand out. Yep, nothing. The teacher holding the bag flashed me a sad  smile before I turned away. I can't believe that i don't have a beast bond. I can't believe it. I internally cried as I made my way to the power booth. The kids were departing from the stadium one by one as they received their bonds and powers. They carried small animals with them.
When it was my turn at the power booth, I looked down at the scroll on the spruce wood table. It was blank. I picked it up and after three seconds something magically appeared on its worn middle. The letters were etched in a beautiful font and they were a deep blue. I gasped at what was written on the paper. Shifter. I
Dropped the scroll on the ground and right when I let go, the word shifter disappeared.
The teacher looked at me " got the one you wanted aye?" He asked. I inwardly sighed, knowing that nobody knew my new, unknown power. I slowly stepped away from the the booth and walked out the door. I was shocked and excited at the same time. I looked to my side and saw Antariel smiling and waving at me. In her hands, a small tan wolf sat calmly, looking at me.
"Hey skolris!" She greeted. I walked over and saw excitement glowing in her amber eyes. "Hello!" I said. " Antariel, what power did you get?" I asked excitedly. Her eyes shined as i asked the question. " you can now call me Antariel the wolf." She declared. Nice she got a werewolf power. " show me your power." I encouraged. When kids first received their powers, they are able to use them.
That's why in gym class, kids  didn't learn how to fight with our powers, because we already knew how. So later today, we are going to battle it out. The winner is the first person to pin the other down.
Antariel suddenly started to grow smaller and her hands became paws. A muzzle grew out of her face and ears popped onto her head. When the transformation was complete, her small tan wolf looked up at a large red-ish brown wolf with striking amber eyes. Anteriel's  tongue lolled out of her mouth and her tail wagged frantically.
I clapped my hands after she had turned back to a human. Her long straight blonde hair swished in the breeze. "Wow, that was amazing!" I said. Then, her eyes drifted to my side and her gazed darkened. "Skolris, where's your bond?" She asked. I shrugged. " i guess i just didn't get one." I simply replied. "If you don't have a bond, what power do you have?" She asked. I shrugged not knowing what she would do if she realized that i had an undiscovered power that nobody has ever had in the history of this planet. "Well...." i began. " when i picked up the scroll, it said that i was a...... i guess I'm a shifter." I finished. Anteriel's eyes lit up in excitement. "What in the world does that mean?" She asked. "Show me!" Anteriel begged.
"I actually haven't tried it out yet" i admitted. In my mind, i saw how to shift and i knew that i could change into any living thing i wanted. I could turn into mythical creatures, made up creatures, sea animals, etc. I also knew that when i though of an animal to turn into, i could create powers to go along with it. "Ok..." i said hesitantly.
At the moment, i was to excited to think of something. "Give me an animal of some sort." I ordered. "Hmmm, how about a maine coon cat." She suggested. I was about to shift until i moved into the thick bushes that was next to the giant stadium walls. Anteriel followed me.
In my mind i thought of all the features of a maine coon. Their large bodies completely covered with fluffy fur. Then, i thought i might add a power. I though of making plants grow at my will. Then it happened. My body reconfigured itself and i could feel myself shrinking to the floor.
I looked down at my paws, they were completely white but the rest of my fur was a combination of browns. Antariel stared down at me with wide eyes. "Oh mah gauwsh." She whispered. I couldn't believe it myself. To test my powers, i though of a weed growing into a sunflower and i touched a weed. Slowly, it grew into a large yellow flower. Antariel's eyes widened wider.  And i quickly shifted back into a human. "Now, that was amazing Skolris. Way better then my wolf." She said. I smiled at her compliment. "Hey, if we dont leave now, we'll be late for English class." I told Antariel. She waved her finger at me i raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Remember, Skolris, when we get into 8th grade, its noe more school. Just battle practice!" She shouted. "Oh my God! I just forgot about that!" I laughed. "Well, we are going to be late for battle practice." I corrected myself.
She nodded and we both exited from behind the bush.

Antariel and i entered into the battle class. We both joined the cluster of kids that were sitting around mr. Kalen. He was assigning battle partners. When he said my name, my heart skipped a beat as i heard the name of the class bully. He was big and all muscle. How will i beat this kid? I fretted. Antariel looked at me with sympathy. The good thing was, we were the last group.
As everyone was assigned their groups, we settled on the sidelines to watch the fights. The first group was Fytel vs Gransop. Fytel was was a fire weilder and Gransop was a vampire. They walked into the arena was got into their battle stance. The coach stood in between them and counted down from three. He then lifted his hand and Gransop was first to attack. He darted forward with his vampire speed and shoved Fytel to the ground. As he neared, she cast fire to her feet and kicked him backwards, burning through his clothes. Soon, Fytel had him pinned down and won. The kids cheered for her and the next group went on.
Groups battled for about thirty minutes until it was my turn. I walked onto the soft mat in the arena and her opponent, Ariau, squared himself a few feet away. When the teachers hand lifted, the battle had begun.
