He what?

Ever since Ginny's party, Marcus was like a sad zombie. He wouldn't shut up about Ginny and Hunter and quite frankly, Melody was annoyed by it. "Dude that's literally her fucking boyfriend, of course they're gonna get sexual. You can't be upset that she had sex with her boyfriend Marcus." Melody told him after hearing him complain for like the 1000th time. "But we literally had sex first! And then there's been all this tension that is impossible to resolve." He told her. She rolled her eyes. "Just forget about her Marcus! There are so many other girls in this fucking school who'd kill to be with you. Let Ginny go!" She told him. "It's not that damn easy! You wouldn't understand how it feels. You've never been in a real relationship ever." Marcus told her. "You have to be delusional to think that the fling you and Ginny had would lead to a real relationship." Melody snapped. "Fuck you!" Marcus told her. "Fuck you!" Melody retaliated before storming down the school hallway. "Mel wait I-" Marcus started only to get flipped off by her as she walked down the hall. She left school campus and went straight home.

Going home wasn't the smartest thing Melody could do because her mom was home and when she saw her, she knew she was screwed. Her mom looked at her and let her jaw fall open in anger and shock. "Why are you skipping school? Know what, You're grounded." She said immediately. Melody sighed and stomped up to her room.

The rest of the day, Marcus really regretted what he said to Melody. This wasn't the biggest fight they've ever had but it was still a fight. Marcus hated fighting with her. When he got home from school, everyone started bombarding him with questions about Melody. "No Melody today?" His mom asked. "Where's Mel?" Max asked. Marcus just sighed deeply and told them, "Mels not coming, we got in a stupid argument and mow she's pissed.". He went to his room before having to talk about it.

He couldn't force himself to do any school work so he painted a big fat eye on his wall. He didn't draw any specific eye, he just let his brush guide his hand. When he was finished, it was 7:30. His parents were gone until midnight for a dinner party and Max was downstairs with Sophie. He got out of his room and went to the living room. He sat on the couch and turned off Max's annoying music which made her say, "Oh God, There's been some terrible mistake! We don't want you here." Max told Marcus dramatically. He rolled his eyes and leaned over. "Hey Sophie." He said. "Hey Marcus." She replied kindly. "We have the living room." Max told him
"Living room is a common area." He told her. "Marcus! Leave!" Max pleaded. He stared her down. "He's not leaving." Max told Sophie. "Is everything OK, Marcus?" She asked him, after noticing how upset he looked. "It's just, uh, this girl, Um... can't stop thinking about her." Marcus told her. "Are you kidding me with this?" Max asked her brother, clearly annoyed. "I don't think she wants anything to do with me." Marcus told her. Max looked to Sophie and Sophie gave Max a "be nice" look. Max took a breath, "Just tell Melody that you screwed up, and you're a dumbass, and you're sorry. Just be honest." Max told him. "Yeah... Melody." Marcus said. He hasn't even really been thinking about her because Ginny was the one who he couldn't get his mind off of. "Look, I was a total moron with Sophie, and then Ginny told me to be honest and now we're great." Max told him. "Ginny told you that?" He asked, amused. She nodded. "Aww, babe!" Sophie said, before making out with her. Marcus snarled and rolled his eyes before leaving in disgust.

Later that night, Marcus decided to be honest withGinny and went to her house. He was at her window when he noticed her mom walk in with laundry. He watched as she moved and then watched as she turned to the window. He quickly duck down as soon as she saw him. He waisted no time taking off and running to his house.

A whole other day went by and Melody and Marcus still weren't talking. Melody mostly hung out with their other friends in the group while Marcus became a complete loner. "When are you guys going to stop this? This is so childish." Dylon asked Melody. "When he finds the balls to apologize." Melody told him. "You guys haven't fought like this since seventh grade. It's annoying." He told her. She just shrugged and went about her day.

Later that night, Clint and Ellen were out again for the evening, leaving the twins home alone again. Max went out with MANG for a while but was now back home. Which meant that Ginny was probably home. Marcus knew that it was time to be straight forward and go talk to Ginny. He got to her open window and heard the faint sound of crying. He watched in horror as she pulled her jeans halfway down and brought a lighter to her leg. Before she could put a flame to her skin, Marcus spoke up. "Ginny?" He asked, making her gasp out of shock and fear. "Jesus Christ!" She said. "How long have you been standing there?" She asked as she pulled her pants up. "What are you doing?" He asked, eyeing the lighter. "Why are you here, Marcus?" She asked frantically. "I, uh..." he tried finding the words to explain. "My mom was right. This is not real! It's not healthy. This bullshit friendship between us with all this sexual tension and secrets... yeah it sucks!" She shouted. "Ginny..." he tried. "No! I'm serious. Prove me wrong. What do you want to say?" She asked. "I think I love you." He told her. "Huh! No you don't." She told him. "What where you doing just now?" He asked, clearly worried. "I can't believe I was so into you. Always lurking outside my window like a loser. I'm not gonna let you mess me up like you do every other girl in the damned town, ok? You know what your problem is Marcus? Your problem is that You're incapable of anything real. You're a joke! Now get out." Ginny told him, he couldn't move immediately, he was so stunned by her words. "Are you slow? I said get out. What part of that don't you understand!" She said. He fought the tears threatening to spill and climbed out of her window. "Don't come back!" He heard her shout from her room.

He swiftly left the house and went home. He sat on the couch with his phone. He tried playing a mobile game to forget about everything but he couldn't. He had to get away.

He went to the garage and got his bike from it's parked place. He put on his helmet and gloves, turned the key and started the engine. He was worse than he thought he'd be at driving the damn motorcycle because he was wobbly and as soon as he got the curve, he turned way too fast on the wet and oily ground. Next thing he knew, the bike was sliding and slid off the side of the road, hurling Marcus off and onto the hard cement in the ditch. His head was pounding furiously and everything was disoriented. The last thing he heard when before passing out was the sound of a car pulling over and a man saying, "Are you awake down there?"

The next time Marcus woke up, he was inside of an ambulance. "What happened?" He slurred out. "You had a nasty fall and smacked your head around a good few times." An EMT told him. "You remember your name kid?" The EMT asked. "Marcus." He told him. "Your full name?" The EMT pressed further. Marcus tried thinking about it but his head hurt and he couldn't get an answer so he just said he didn't know. "We don't know it either kid, we'll have to put a picture of you out later. Hopefully we'll get an ID." The EMT told him before shining a bright light in his eye, making him flinch away and an intense feeling of nausea built up inside of him. The EMT helped him sit up and placed a bag under his chin. Marcus started throwing up immediately. When he finally stopped, he laid back down and closed his eyes.

Lenora Manelli was working the night shift in the ER tonight. It was relatively calm tonight, a few people coming in for stitches. She was almost startled by the ambulance pulling up at the ER door. She ran to the door with a few doctors and watched the stretcher be brought inside. "15 year old Caucasian Male, sustained a head injury in a motorcycle accident." The EMT informed them. She looked down and let out an audible gasp. "Oh my God!" She exclaimed. "Do you know this patient, Nurse Manelli?" One of the doctors asked. "Yes! He's my daughters best friend, he's like a son to me." She rambled. "His name?" Another doctor asked while getting ready to tap the information in the IPad she had. "Marcus Baker." She told him. "I need to call his mom." Lenora said, leaving everyone.

Ellen and Clint were at a neighborhood meeting when Ellen got a call. It was from Max. She excused herself from the meeting and went to answer it. "Yes Max?" She asked. "Mom I can't find Marcus. He won't answer my calls. I think he blocked my number again." She told her mom. Ellen sighed. "Thank you dear, I'll call him." She said while hanging up and pressing Marcus's contact. The phone rang a few times before going to his voicemail.  This boy would be the death of her she swore. She was about to return to the room and tell Clint they needed to leave and find Marcus when she got another call. She answered. "Hello?" She said. "Ellen it's Lenora, I'm calling from the hospital. Marcus is here, he sustained a head injury. We don't know the severity yet, they need to preform tests. Please get here as soon as you can." She told her. Ellen waisted no time rushing to get Clint and making him drive her straight to the hospital. She was the only one who could stay with him because of the hospitals rule about extra guests.

The next person Lenora called was Melody. She told her everything that happened and could hear the utter shock in Melody's voice as she asked, "He what?". "Honey, he got hurt. He probably won't be out of the hospital until tomorrow. I want you to go to the Bakers house and stay with Max. I know this is terrifying to both of you." She told her. "Yeah... got it mom." Melody said before hanging up the phone and grabbing her skateboard. When she got to the house, she immediately ran upstairs to Max, who was scared to tears. That night, they held each other and cried.

The rest of the night was nothing but chaos, Ellen came into the ER and was freaking out because she didn't know what was going on with her son. Marcus was slipping in and out of sleep and felt extremely nauseous. He woke up about an hour before he was able to have a CAT scan and Ellen was finally able to have some sort of conversation with him. "Honey? It's me, it's mom." She said. He blinked a few times before saying, "Hi.". He was exhausted and in so much pain. "The doctor said you've got a pretty serious concussion buddy. Do you understand what I'm saying?" She asked. "No..." he answered, slowly and unsurely. Ellen sighed softly and put her hand on his. "I know you're in a lot of pain right now honey. But don't worry, you're going to have a brain scan and then you're going to get to go home, take some medicine, and you can sleep in your own bed. Just hold on a few more hours buddy." Ellen told him. He blinked in response and then let his eyes shut.

During the CAT scan, Marcus was instructed to stay completely still, which felt like absolute hell. He had to stay in the same position for 30 minutes. When the scan was finally done, he got to go back to the room. He let Ellen hold him in her arms for a while until the doctor finally came into the room and told him that the scan was clear and gave him a prescription before sending him home. He was also given the news that due to the severity of the injury, he'd be concussed for at least a few months and that he needed to stay out of school for at least a week.

The car ride home was uncomfortable. Marcus felt like he was going to throw up and his head was screaming for him to go to sleep. When he finally got home, his mom helped him out of the car. He walked slowly up the pavement and looked to Ginny's window. The two of them shared a quick stare until his mom said, "Here sweetie, let me help you inside." She took his hand and pulled his along.

When he got inside, his mom lead him up the stairs and to his room. She had to help him get into more comfortable clothes and then got him tucked into bed. As soon as his head hit his pillow, he was out like a light.
