Chapter:80

"They don't look like they want to go back. I think they want a kiss from me. They even said that they want me to give them a bath tonight," Jungkook said with a serious face.

"Are you trying to be elegant even when you're being a pervert? Kook, seriously?" Lisa was speechless.

"I'm only like this towards my wife. I'm not a pervert, it's called 'spicing things up'."

"Hurry up and hook it back on. Otherwise, I'm not letting you onto my bed tonight." Lisa's last resort was to threaten him.

Jungkook got up unwillingly and slowly hooked her bra back up.

"Phffff… how do you have such a dirty side?" Lisa wanted to puke blood.

"Everyone has multiple sides. If you're always the same, you're probably a fool."

Lisa had to admit that his words made some sense...

"Are you off work now? I'm so hungry."

"What do you want to eat?"

"Anything but 'tofu'. I also hate anyone who likes to eat 'tofu'." Lisa mocked.

(A\N: eating tofu is another way to say someone feeling someone up)

Smiling, Jungkook held her hands and said, "You should be happy that someone is still interested in eating your 'tofu'. Don't come crying to me when no one wants your 'tofu'."

Lisa, "-_-"

Many of JC's employees saw Jungkook holding hands with Lisa and the two of them going down in Jungkook's personal elevator.

They didn't see Lisa's face too clearly since she had her head down and was walking very quickly.

It was still more than enough to tell that their big boss had a girlfriend.

"Ah, it looks like the gossip was wrong," a female employee lamented.

"What gossip?" asked another.

"There has always been news that our president is gay. Looks like they were wrong. He likes women!"

"She looks so ordinary though… How did she manage to grab his attention?"

"Ordinary? She seemed anything but ordinary. She probably has some special quality that attracted the president. She's so lucky! I'd give up ten years of my life to be his woman."

As the group of female employees continued their chatter, Yerim got off work.

Looking at Jungkook and Lisa walking away together, Yerim felt deep bitterness in her heart...

"Director Kim." At the sight of Yerim, the girls immediately shut their mouths.

Without responding, Yerim walked out of JC with a heavy expression...

Jungkook's reckless show of lovey-doveyness in the company could only mean that he's about to publicize his relationship.

Why is Lisa so lucky? Is it because they met each other in high school?

After they left JC, Jungkook got into Lisa's car and gave his driver directions to Imperial Park.

They went to a western restaurant. Lisa wasn't too much of a fan of western restaurants. She didn't hate them, but she didn't fancy them either.

However, she guessed that Jungkook probably loved western food. After all, he did spend seven years in the States.

"Sir, how would you like your steak done?"

"Medium well." Other than towards Lisa, Jungkook always had little to say.

"Great, and for the lady? How would you like yours done?"

"Well done. Thank you."

"Um… Miss, it'll be overcooked and might affect the flavor," the waiter explained in a speechless manner.

"No worries, I like it well done."

"Alright. Your dishes will be here shortly."

They ordered two steaks. While Jungkook ordered for his to be medium well, Lisa's preference of a well-done steak startled the waiter.

"I'm paying today. Order whatever you want!"

"Why are you suddenly so generous? Do you need my help again?" Jungkook asked as he sipped on his red wine.

"Tsk tsk… you are truly omniscient like a god."

Lisa couldn't help but admire Jungkook's wits. He always managed to see right through her.

"What do you need? Tell me."

"Nothing really. It's just that my mom's been nagging me to move back home. Of course, moving back home is not sensible since we're already married. But I do want to spend a couple of days at home with her and Haruto."

"That's fine." Jungkook nodded.

"You agreed?" Lisa didn't expect such an easy answer from Jungkook.

"Yeah, go home for a couple of days. Buy your mom and your brother lots of things. If you don't have enough money, I'll get the Finance Department to transfer you some."

"... No, it's alright. I have enough. I think I have way more than enough."

Lisa was mostly using her own salary for her spendings, and her salary had also increased a lot along with her promotion.

With Jungkook arranging her day-to-day needs, she didn't need to spend too much.

She didn't touch a single cent of Jungkook's monthly salary.

Although Jungkook didn't want to send his wife home to her mom, he could understand her feelings.

So, even if he was going to miss her dearly, he didn't want to tell her. He wanted to make sure that she was happy.

The couple both enjoyed the meal. When they arrived home, a phone call from the company pulled Jungkook back to work.

As for Lisa, she took a shower and immediately got into bed, lying there as she flipped through some books and enjoyed some light music, relaxed as could be.

The next day, when Lisa got off work, she bought a few baskets of fresh vegetables and fruits and headed straight for her mother's house.

Due to his night classes, Haruto hadn't returned home yet.

Her mother cooked an entire chicken and made her some stir-fry dishes. The mother and daughter enjoyed a very rich dinner.

Suddenly, the door was pushed open and in came two people.

The person in the front was auntie Song, their next-door neighbor. As for the person behind her, Lisa couldn't see clearly enough to recognize their face.

"Oh? Did you just start eating?"

"Yeah." Lisa's mother got up and pulled up a chair for her to sit down in.

"Lisa, you're back!" Aunty Song gave an especially friendly smile to Lisa.

"Auntie Song!" Lisa greeted.

"Just in time! My son is also off for a couple of days and he's been complaining about being bored. Now that Lisa's back, the two of you can keep each other company."

"Your son came back?" Lisa's mother looked towards the man standing behind Auntie Song.

Lisa also turned to look and was surprised by the huge change Auntie Song's son had gone through.

As neighbors, they've known each other ever since they were little and she had always known him as a very quiet boy.

Because he was older than Lisa by quite a few years, they weren't very close.

Later on, Auntie Song's son left the city for university, only returning after he graduated. Apparently, he was now working in a bank.

Now that he was 30 and still single, Auntie Song was very worried.

"Hello, Auntie," her son greeted Lisa's mother with a smile.

He was 178 cm tall and looked very proper. He was handsome and had clean features.

His black suit embodied the characteristics of a bank employee and he was pale.

Plus, with Auntie Song's above-average means, her son was born with a little sense of pride.

"Have the two of you eaten? Care to have some more? I made chicken stew. Lisa bought the chicken today and apparently, it's organic chicken fed with corn. I do like the taste." Lisa's mother was especially friendly.

"It's alright, we ate already. Oh right, is the white car parked outside your home yours?" Auntie Song was surprised by the white Sedan parked outside.

Before Lisa could answer, her mother said, "That's Lisa's car."

"Oh wow, incredible, Lisa bought a car," Auntie Song complemented.

Lisa didn't want to seem high-profile, so she only nodded in response, "I took out a loan to buy it. I live too far from work, so it's easier for me to get around with a car."

To her surprise, Auntie Song's son interjected, "That's not just any car, it's an imported model. The engines on this thing are much more high-end than those made in Korea, and it's worth around a million atleast."

"That's expensive, Lisa, you've done well for yourself."

Auntie Song didn't know cars that well, but she knew that her son's Audi A4 was a little over a million, so she was impressed to hear that Lisa's car was around the same price.

"I don't know much about cars, and a friend introduced me to this model, so I bought it." Lisa was unwilling to show-off her car. After all, that wasn't her style.

However, her mother was quick to interject, "Lisa is now a head nurse at her hospital and earns a lot more than before."

"That's great! I heard that South Side is filled with rich people. Lisa, you didn't find yourself a boyfriend from all the rich heirs?"

Auntie Song was a big gossip, and Lisa didn't know how to answer her. She didn't like to deceive others or lie, but as of that moment, she couldn't tell her mother the truth, because her mother couldn't know about her and Jungkook.

Therefore, she shook her head, "No, I didn't. Those admitted to South Side are all patients, and as medical professionals, we don't really interact with them outside of work."

"You're right, Lisa had been an honest and humble kid ever since she was a little girl. She's not like other girls her age who wear short skirts and heavy makeup. That's a good thing."

They chatted until Lisa was full from all the food…

Just as she was about to go into the house and tidy up the bedroom, Auntie Song said to her son," Son, go take a walk with Lisa outside. Didn't you say that you had some medical questions you wanted to ask her about?"

"Yeah, Lisa, go take a walk with him. You guys should have a lot to talk about after all you guys know eachother since childhood." Lisa's mother said, after receiving Auntie Song's signal.

This was such an obvious setup…

Lisa felt speechless…

However, Auntie Song's son took the initiative. He said to Lisa, "Let's go."

Out of sensibility, Lisa had no choice but to get up and go with him. Auntie Song immediately said secretively to Lisa's mother, "Hey, what do you think of my son?"

"He is a good kid, but… our family conditions aren't that good, and we're no match for your family."

"What are you talking about? We've known each other for so long, do you really think that I'd look down on you? Originally, I didn't think too much about this because Lisa had a boyfriend, but last time, I heard Haruto mention that they broke up, so I began thinking about introducing Lisa to my son. A few days ago, I called to ask him what he thought of Lisa and, to my surprise, he liked the photo of Lisa I showed him. And, here we are. He took some time off work to come back to meet her, and I had plans to ask you to call Lisa to come home so the two of them could meet, but she came back herself today. Look at that, it's fate, I know it."

Auntie Song had a quick mouth and was a chatter bug. She also liked to play matchmaker and always made things sound much better than they actually were.

"I have no objections as long as the kids like each other. I've known your son since he was a baby, and I know that he's a good kid."

"That's good, let's sit here and wait for their good news." Auntie Song was exhilarated.

She was almost positive that Lisa was bound to fall for her son…

As they walked around, Lisa didn't speak much. She hadn't seen him in years, and all her memories about him were from when they were kids.

"My mom said that you work at South Side Recuperation Center?"

"Yeah." Lisa nodded.

"Is it a lot of work? How's the overall work environment?" All of his questions were well measured. She could tell that he was a proper person.

"It's not bad, work isn't too tiring. South Side is a high-end hospital, so the work environment and facilities are pretty modern."

"That's great! My mom told me that you're a really hard-working person, and although you didn't go to a top university, you worked diligently since your graduation and was promoted again and again. I enjoy being around people like you, it gives me positive energy."

"Um… thanks for the compliment."

"You know what I do, right? I'm currently the Deputy Manager of our bank's Credit and Loans Department, and I've gotten a couple of raises. But that isn't my ultimate goal – I plan on becoming our department's director within 5 years. I know it'll be hard, but I won't give up."

"That's really nice, it's good to have a dream. I hope you can succeed in it."

Although to her, Auntie Song's son was no more than a passerby, Lisa was still impressed by his positive outlook on life.

He laughed, "Whales and sharks swim upstream; dead fish float downstream."

"Haha… that's an interesting way of thinking."

"Oh right, I heard that you broke up with your boyfriend."

"Yeah, we broke up. Your mother have met him before."

"So, do you plan on dating or getting married anytime soon?" he probed.

"Not yet." Lisa realized where he was going, so she immediately nipped his thought in the bud.

"Really? That's a shame, my mom said that we would make a good couple. After all, we've known each other since we were kids and are aware of each other's' characters. Plus, our jobs are both stable, so if we get married, our quality of life won't be bad."

"Haha… thanks for thinking so highly of me, but… relationships are complicated. Sometimes those who don't seem to match end up dating, while those who seem to match don't end up going anywhere."

"There's a pub up front, do you want to go in for a drink?" Auntie Song's son was still in high spirits.

"I'm sorry, but I'm a little busy tonight. I need to leave now."

"Oh, okay, what's your WeChat number? I can add you," he said as he took out his phone.

"I don't use WeChat, and don't have time to use it anyways."

"What about your phone number?" he didn't want to give up.

"Um…look, I'm sorry, but I don't think we should exchange our contact information. I don't think it'll work out between us."

He was surprised by Lisa's upfront rejection.

During his previous set-ups, it was the women who took the initiative. After all, he had a good job and came from a good family.

He originally thought that getting Lisa to date him was going to be easy as pie, but to his surprise, Lisa immediately rejected him.

"Nothing is certain; what if a possibility opens up in the future?" he was still unwilling to give up.

"There's no possibility, I'm really sorry if I sound offensive. I know that Auntie Song did this out of the kindness of her heart, and I know that you're a good person. However, I should be able to make my own decisions, and I hope you can understand." The truth was, Lisa really wanted to tell this guy that she was married, but if he told his mother, she would definitely tell her mother. Therefore, after a lot of consideration, Lisa decided to keep her mouth shut.

"Haha… okay then, if that's what you think, then I don't want to force you into anything." he smiled bitterly.

"Let's head back." Lisa didn't want to waste any more time since everything was already out in the open.

After a while, Auntie Song's son along with Lisa arrived back at her mother's house, and Auntie Song left with her son.

Lisa sat down beside her mother and helped her with laundry.

Her mother rubbed at a dirty shirt while she nonchalantly asked, "How did it go?"

"Mom, he's not my type."

"How old are you? Not your type? Does that matter when it comes to sharing a life together? By the end you become family, that's how life is. Haven't you heard? After marriage, the couple becomes a pair of hands. All the love between them will be slowly scraped away by the small details of life."

"That may be the case, but I don't want to get married because it's right; I want to get married for love."

Upon hearing what her daughter said, she wasn't happy, but she didn't insist.

That night, on her bed, Lisa posted on a heartfelt sentence on her WeChat friend circle.

"If you get married one day, I hope it's because of love, and not because it was right."

However, Haruto immediately shattered her romanticism completely into pieces.

He replied, "Noona, I think men are like the food at a school cafeteria. It's disgusting, but if you get there too late, you might end up with nothing and then sleep on an empty stomach."

Chaeyoung had Haruto's WeChat as well, so she could see their conversation.

She immediately replied to Haruto, "Why do I have a feeling that you're saying this to me?"

"Of course not, noona, I don't have the guts to talk about you."

Lisa smiled and replied, "Are you guys having fun replying on my post? Have you paid posting fees?"

Before she had a chance to look at their replies, someone suddenly sent her a video chat request…

The ID on her screen was 'My dearest Mr. Husband', along with a photo of Jungkook, who looked dashing.

She doesn't remember noting Jungkook like that; how did that happen?

Nervous, she accepted the video chat and lowered the volume.

The good thing was, Lisa's room was quite far from her mother's. Or else, if her mother suddenly came into her room, she would be in big trouble.

"Hey." Lisa greeted him.

"Have you had dinner?" Jungkook's voice was gentle as it always was.

It seemed like he was still at the company. He had on a dark grey shirt; the diamonds on his cuffs were especially eye-catching.

Anyone else dressed like that would seem like no more than a rich hillbilly.

However, Jungkook wore it like royalty; she had to admit that clothes didn't matter, the face and the aura did.

"Yup, my mom made broiled chicken. It was delicious, I ate a bowl and a half of rice."

"Not bad," Jungkook said, his eyes smiling.

"Are you still at work?"

"Yeah, I have a meeting later."

"Why did you transform into a workaholic the minute I left home? Don't you know to go home early and get some rest?"

"Even if I go home, I'll still be alone." Jungkook's answer was short and to the point.

He sounded like a poor little housewife who was wronged.

His tone was full of sorrow...

"Ahem… don't worry, I'll be home soon."

"I miss you," Jungkook suddenly said as he stared at Lisa through the phone.

She had on a lilac sleep dress with a mickey mouse on it; she looked adorable.

Upon hearing what Jungkook suddenly said, Lisa's cheeks felt a little feverish.

"Isn't there anything you want to say to me?" Jungkook was obviously unhappy.

His dopey wife made no reactions after he told her he missed her, seriously?

"I kinda miss you too."

"Just kind of?" he objected once more.

"Hm… a lot. I miss you sooooo much, I miss you to death. Does that make you happier?"

"That's much better and hold your phone away from you, it's too close to your face right now." Jungkook instructed her.

"Why? Did you get sick of looking at my face for so long?" Lisa laughed.

"A little further."

Upon hearing Jungkook's request, Lisa had no choice but to increase the distance between herself and her phone.

She tried her best to fit her entire body on the screen…

"Pull down your collar," Jungkook said in all seriousness.

Lisa, "-_-"
