Silence grew over the glade as the doors began closing, she was wedged between the glade and the maze. "Now!" Shouted the leader, and they pressed forward, spears aimed at her. It seemed as if the sky darkened, and hatred filled the glade as they forced her into the horrid maze. She fell back onto the freezing concrete, sobbing. "Stop!" Screamed two familiar voices, almost in sync, dropping their spears and attempting to run after the sobbing girl. But the doors slammed close before they could reach her, and the two boys slammed their fists against the walls. She was alone. Two months ago, she was banished. Two months of nightly griever stings, nightly torture. Those months passed, and the light in her eyes faded. She completely collapsed on the freezing concrete. She had so many illnesses, wounds, pain, her body couldn't possibly function anymore. Her heart stopped on the maze floor. Her body laid lifeless at last. Unfortunately, WICKED still needed her, she was an essential to the trials. They ripped her from the maze, and brought her back to life. It took four years, four years of being in that building, slowly healing. And today, she'll have no idea that she ever went to the laboratory, that she was ever healed, she will be placed back in the maze, believing it has been four years since her banishing, still in pain, still hurting. Today, they throw her back to the glade, where everyone still remembers what she did, where no one spoke of her, the place where she regretted everything. A few months ago, a blog from an anonymous account was released, calledInto the A dvity, which spurred a multimedia multiverse because of the mysterysurrounding it. It had fascinating insights about Life, The Universe, and Everything through its ability to personify things in a way everyone could connect back to. The way it painted conspiracies was so compelling that it caused most readers to question their own reality and thus become a part of the story as well. The blog was only 13 chapters long as the original blog has gone on hiatus after growing this cult following incredibly fast, it has become the largest internet sensation because of it's fascinating ability to connect back to every show, movie, book, religion, and musician for that matter. Essentially people treated the blog as a master key to understanding the interconnectedness of all things, especially since it used language most nerds reading would relate to.The gang had no idea, but the blog has already sparsely followed the highlights of each of their lives. Painting them as archetypes for the readers to see themselves through. Thousands of people knew their past already and knew what was about to happen to them. However, Alex was never a character. She was the spectator of a great play who has suddenly become an actor in it.The rogue fan theorist made the bold move to take the group towards the center of the vortex, opening their world to a fan convention designed in their image. Still the overlooming threat of what mysteries unfold from the Advity rings closer. Now the group must do what they can to save not only themselves but the fate of the universe itself.
The Decameron 2.0
Modeled after Giovanni Boccaccio's classic from the 14th Century, this collection similarly brought 100+ short stories to Wattpad readers. The original's premise was simple: ten individuals entertained themselves over a span of ten days by telling a different tale while hiding out from the plague outside of Florence. Each day had a theme, leading to an end product that was both cohesive, yet unique. This Wattpad collection aimed to give readers a similar experience. The Decameron 2.0 originally appeared on Wattpad in 2016, but was moved to draft form when I joined the Futures Program. Now that the FP is gone, this collection can be reposted. Participation was by invitation only with each "day" having a Group Leader, otherwise known as the King or Queen for the day. They had the great responsibility to not only pick the other nine authors in their team, but also the theme that they wrote around. Awards were given to the best story within each theme and the overall best story from all the shorts, each chosen by Guest Judges. Readers also had a chance to vote for their favorite to get a special Readers' Award. Stories are between 1,500 and 3,000 words each. They are the sole properties of their respective authors.
